Supermarket when you’re covid positive

Not to start a bunfight, I just want to know. Would you go supermarket shopping when you were testing positive?

I see a few people saying they wouldn't go to shops with flu. I have to confess, before covid I would have done. I just went on how I felt. I've learned through covid that that was quite a selfish attitude really but I had just never considered how my illness could badly affect others. But now I know that something minor for me could be devastating for someone else. It's certainly made me more aware of others and I have changed my behaviour accordingly.

ilovesooty · 15/04/2022 16:35

@Chooksnroses

I'm very interested in the people who say they would , and I'd like to ask if you would visit a vulnerable relative if you knew or suspected you had Covid?
I'm not interested in them. Some are posting true to form and I don't think they're worth anyone's headspace. Some of them are on record as anti maskers too and consistently mocking any mitigation measures.
GrimOutHere · 15/04/2022 16:36

Good grief!
To all those who’ve had covid and it was mild, just like a bad cold, lucky, lucky you.
It’s so selfish and arrogant to simply assume that others who may catch covid from you while you pop to the supermarket while infectious for milk and bread, or whatever, will get it as mildly!
Stay at home until you are well again. Get food delivered or ask someone to help.
Sod the government which has wimped out on us and stopped free testing just because it suits them to save money. Sod you if you don’t even care.

I think that's a really considered and honest post.
EwwSprouts · 15/04/2022 16:39

No. It might mean it was baked beans three days in a row but I wouldn't.

LampLighter414 · 15/04/2022 16:43

I wouldn't even know if I was positive as zero point testing now if you have a sniffle or a cough, especially when you have to pay for a test from the supermarket

There’s not always zero point testing. We visit an elderly, vulnerable lady once a week for two hours indoors. I wouldn’t want to give her covid when there’s a way to minimise the risk.
LostOrFound · 15/04/2022 16:47

I wouldn’t if I could possibly help it.

I had covid recently and couldn’t pick up my anti depressants from the pharmacy so went with out for a few days and felt pretty shocking as a result.but I really didn’t want to go to a pharmacy of all places while infectious.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 15/04/2022 16:47

no,
but if it couldnt be helped

CharityShopChic · 15/04/2022 16:49

Yes I would, if I had to. And wouldn't feel in the slightest bit guilty about it either.

Zotter · 15/04/2022 16:50

Only as last resort then with a N95 or FP22 mask.

Overthebow · 15/04/2022 16:52

Is everyone saying they wouldn’t go out with covid still testing them? I’m not so I genuinely won’t know if I have covid or not and wouldn’t stay in with a slight sniffle.

Once a week before seeing someone vulnerable
LampLighter414 · 15/04/2022 16:53

@PurpleDaisies valid point but I have no such arrangements in my life so haven't tested myself for a couple months. Used to do them routine every couple weeks in case I was asymptomatic and of course if I had been in contact with someone. But now I'm not hearing about anybody I know having covid so I can't help but think I'm not the only one who isn't testing. Lots of coughs and sniffles at the gym and people at work complaining about them though, I wonder who much is covid. Oh well.

Suzi888 · 15/04/2022 16:54

No.
Some people have no choice but to go to the supermarket (elderly/vulnerable).

It is legal to do so though and I can assure you some people go everywhere with covid. Those people are arseholes.

Motnight · 15/04/2022 16:56

No. But I am lucky - have husband and dd and friends who would deliver anything essential plus a great choice of home deliveries.

I do wonder though how some people would manage without going to the shop.

Bpdqueen · 15/04/2022 16:57

Pls don't do this im CEV and work in a supermarket 😔

Pop175 · 15/04/2022 16:59

I wouldn't unless I was totally desperate. I had a friend who said she did masked up, as she doesn't like online shopping, she didn't trust her hubby to go for her! 🤷‍♀️

Yes, I am, before I meet up with clients, vulnerable friends or groups of people I don't know well.
Fulmine · 15/04/2022 17:00

Certainly not.

tkwal · 15/04/2022 17:01

No. There are so many other options whether online or asking friends/family to go for you and leave the bags outside

DaffodilHead · 15/04/2022 17:01

I wouldn't know if I had it or not, as not testing. Time to move on.

starsparkle08 · 15/04/2022 17:02

Yes

I get free LFTs at the moment due to health so we have plenty available for free.

I'm classed as vulnerable and Dh sees vulnerable clients as part of his job some days. He tested mainly this time as we were due to visit his mum and go out for dinner in a restaurant we know is used by a lot of older customers. So it made sense.
He's also poorly so I wouldn't have been happy to mix with vulnerable people regardless today.

DaffodilHead · 15/04/2022 17:02

But yes if I had a cold I would go to the supermarket if I needed to.
