Dulcolax gave me horrendous stomach cramps to the point that I passed out, but it definitely worked.
Dulcoease is gentle on your stomach and just as effective.
Keep moving, walking around and wait a while after everything you've taken, it takes a while to work.

Junipercrumble · 14/04/2022 09:00

Check out the reviews on Amazon for dulcolax before you buy it Shock

justme2022 · 14/04/2022 09:04

Hot strong coffee followed by glass of ice cold water. The runners pre run shit trick. Oddly, for me pesto works as well

DragonOverTheMoon · 14/04/2022 09:06

Prunes and prune juice.

Lots and lots of water. Like 6 pints minimum in a day.

Andrews salt before bed and first thing in the morning.

Sennacots work well for me. Don't stay still, keep moving and keep drinking water.

DragonOverTheMoon · 14/04/2022 09:07

Dulcolax is awful. I took one and spent a night on the loo feeling like I was either going to throw up or pass out. Awful.

choosername1234 · 14/04/2022 09:08

Have a stool (Smile) underneath your feet whilst sitting on the toilet. Raining your knees a bit is a more natural position for pooing

Incapacitated · 14/04/2022 09:09

Thank you for all the advice. I took all those things yesterday with no result. It seems more like impaction. I have a doctor's appointment this morning.

You need suppositories then OP. They're not actually that bad and work quickly.

Incapacitated · 14/04/2022 09:12

@Toothsil

I'm sorry to hear you're having more surgery. I hope it all goes well for you Flowers

Kiwis, dried apricots and a walk

gingergiraffe · 14/04/2022 09:19

I would second Holland and Barrat’s slimatee before bed but you say you have already tried all the suggestions.

Arlophinius · 14/04/2022 09:30

I've suffered with chronic constipation my whole life and if you've tried all of those things when it does eventually happen you will be very very loose. Suppositories are usually really good to get things moving if it's too hard and dry at the end (sorry if that's tmi!) but if they haven't shifted it you may possibly need medical intervention worst case scenario? Saying that how long did you leave it in for? When I was younger to increase its efficiency I'd drink about 2 pints of water and wait at least an hour, it would help to lubricate up the blockage (again so sorry for the tmi!) I know it stimulates the bowel though and that can be incredibly difficult, but because the nerves there for me are basically numb I couldn't feel that need to go, unless it was really really 'could end up in hospital' bad.

Herecomesthesun2022 · 14/04/2022 09:34

If it’s compacted presumably you’ll need a stool softener like lactulose, to soften what’s already there and blocking the way

Herecomesthesun2022 · 14/04/2022 09:36

Ps a very highly qualified bum doctor (bowel specialist) recommended a combination of fybogel and lactulose

kittykarate · 14/04/2022 09:38

2 marlboro and an espresso.

IStandWithMaya · 14/04/2022 09:44

If you're already eating enough fibrous foods, then consuming additional fibre will add to your problems by causing a blockage.

Please see your GP to try to ascertain the root cause.

enema??

Google description - Overview. An enema is a method of clearing out your colon using an injection of fluid — basically, loosening up impacted bowels to help make yourself poop. Typically, an enema is given to help treat constipation. First, a small bottle or container is filled with a safe fluid, such as soap suds or a saline solution

I never knew there was such a thing until I went to hospital for a procedure and they give me one. It was great. Apparently you can get them in ur local pharmacy. I suffer from constipation too a lot and never have I heard of this til recently.

energywavering · 14/04/2022 09:53

Have you tried Fibre Ones?
I ate 2 birthday cake ones one day last week and they gave me a really bubbly lower tummy!
I think it must be because they contain the same artificial sweetener that sugar free sweets do!

DragonOverTheMoon · 14/04/2022 09:55

My friend did a coffee enema not long ago. She had great results that I won't post to entertain the poo troll Grin.

housemoveslowmo · 14/04/2022 09:56

Fresh prune juice

fruitcakepie · 14/04/2022 09:57

Acupuncture and a good Chinese massage . Works wonders

5zeds · 14/04/2022 10:03

Water and walk

GeorgiaGirl52 · 14/04/2022 10:04

Kentucky Fried Chicken (regular not extra crispy) three thighs will get things moving!!

Cotswoldmama · 14/04/2022 10:14

Lactulose, strong coffee, running. Fail safe for my kids is going on the trampoline! We used to make them have a jump before leaving the house!

Incapacitated · 14/04/2022 10:51

These are all so helpful and I'll try them in the future. The combination I had tried was successful! Just before my appointment with the GP who confirmed it was all fine. I'll take laxidol daily after this.

Thanks again and Flowers to all who suffer.
