AIBU or is my cat BU?

Dcat has decided it no longer suits His Fluffiness to exit the house through the doors. Instead he wants to come in and out via the living room window. This means I have to stop what I'm doing, open the window and pick up whatever he has knocked off in the process of wriggling out. If I try to guide him through the door, shake food at the door, etc he just sits on the windowsill and screams.
This is new, and very annoying.
Is he BU? Or am I?

I can see a common theme amongst our furry overlords! I have accepted my fate emptied the windowsill. He treated my apologies with the expected disdain and has now gone for a nap, the adorable little tyrant

You are the slave, stop complaining!

Dog owners? Grin
SecretSpAD · 10/04/2022 18:13

Of course YABU. How could you even consider that your Lord and Master and Centre of the Universe could possibly be wrong 😱

SecretSpAD · 10/04/2022 18:16

@DimplesToadfoot

I have a dog, no cats here and even I think yabu, I'm to see you've seen the errors of your ways :-)
I have a dog who was brought up by a cat.

🤦‍♀️

My DMs cat refuses to drink from her water bowl. Instead she sits in the bath and silently glares until you fill a specific jug with water and put it in the bath for her.

The jug of water now lives in the bath. If you dare to use the bath and stupidly forget to replace the jug, she will stubbornly sit there and wait until you put it back.

As she spends 99% of her time asleep on DMs bed, she is conspicuous in her absence and you know exactly where to find her Grin

MissMaple82 · 10/04/2022 18:20

Of course you are being totally unreasonable here. Cat is the master, you work for cat. Remember that and know your place human!

Ericaequites · 10/04/2022 18:21

It’s worse when the Queen stands on the door jamb, thinking about whether Out or In is preferable. Holding the doors open means the human head of household will complain about letting in every bug in town.

Ursula4007 · 10/04/2022 18:22

@DinosaurDuvet

Is this a reverse?
😂
violetbunny · 10/04/2022 18:23

Don't you have a cat flap?

sillymoo64 · 10/04/2022 18:27

afraid cats do what they want and when they want you are their servant!

Hope90x · 10/04/2022 18:48

You should really just be thankful that Dcat allows you to remain in residence 🤣

SadButTheTruth · 10/04/2022 18:49

I think you know the answer and I’m worried that you needed to ask massive eye roll. If this advice was to the cat it would clearly be LTB!! Wink

If for whatever reason you insist on not being available at all times to open whichever window needs opening, I suggest you spend a day changing the layout of your whole ground floor to facilitate the window access. This will absolutely ensure that your cat ceases using that window and chooses another one to demand access through….probably one that is now completely inaccessible…

Shush!🙊 Don't attract more Dog owners 😂

🐱🐈

MrOllivander · 10/04/2022 19:01

I opened the living room window to allow access. Said cat trotted down the hall and demanded to leave from another window. Of course I obliged

It's not even my bastard cat Grin

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 10/04/2022 19:02

Nice to know you have recognised the error of your ways OP.

We are here to serve...

😻😹

RightOnTheEdge · 10/04/2022 19:03

Sorry! I was one who voted YANBU!
It was in sympathy with the OP because my cat is driving me mad going out of one door and then sitting and shouting outside the other door until someone gets up to let her in even though the first door is wide open!

RagzRebooted · 10/04/2022 19:08

YANBU, if you let the cat get its way, it will escalate. DH is fully under the paw, he opens the patio door for DCats, despite the cat flap being a foot away. If the cats see him sitting there, they will scratch/shout/glare until he opens the door.
I'm a bad cat mummy because I refuse to let the heat out just to let the cat in, so they don't do it to me.
DH also hand feeds them tidbits from the table...

Ellmau · 10/04/2022 19:13

There's a lot of Stockholm Syndrome on this thread.

Of course DCat is BU, DCats always are. However, he will probably win.

OkPedro · 10/04/2022 19:20

YABU alone for not providing a photo of your dcat!

Suzi888 · 10/04/2022 19:21

@MurmuratingStarling winning post 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lamujere · 10/04/2022 19:24

You know very well that you are being unreasonable if you expect to win with a cat!

Vallmo47 · 10/04/2022 19:27

LMAO.

100problems · 10/04/2022 19:37

It's a battle of wills. You will lose.

Stigsmother · 10/04/2022 19:47

I voted YABU before I even read your post.
