What age did your looks start to fade?

Do we really become less desirable as we get older? Why is this?

Rupertpenrysmistress · 09/04/2022 18:54

I will be 45 this year and honestly, apart from that natural looking youth in younger people, I am very happy with how I am aging.

I think it's as others have said, I now don't really care what people think about how I look, I look after my skin which is now better than in my 30's.
I exercise including weights, drink plenty of water follow 16:8 fasting but still eat plenty of chocolate, I sleep well, take supplements and am currently tee total. I was plagued with acne for years but dermatica has changed that. My skin genuinely glows. I don't suffer fools and do things that make me happy.

I fleetingly look at younger people and see their flawless skin and just think, how lovely they look but not in an enviable way. Youth is wasted on the young. I didn't appreciate how good I looked when younger, but, age is inevitable and I don't plan on letting it hold me back.

Annesally2 · 09/04/2022 18:55

I still turn heads at almost 40, if I dress nicely anyway.
I'm slim and botoxed up to the eyeballs though, that probably helps. Grin .

tkwal · 09/04/2022 19:01

Do our looks "fade" or do we end up with the face we have earned ?

LoisLane66 · 09/04/2022 19:05

About 63

Octomingo · 09/04/2022 19:05

People, very kindly, say I don't look like I'm in my 40s. I look better than I did in my 20s, but that's only becauseI'm more groomed. Stick me next to younger me and younger me would still be more attractive. I am slim and generally quite bouncy, so I give off a younger vibe.

What I'm interested in is weight. If you were slim all your life, without dieting, did you still get bigger in menopause? My mum and nan didn't, but I suspect they ate like birds and sniffed half a sherry once a year.

Fluffmum · 09/04/2022 19:06

35

Darbs76 · 09/04/2022 19:06

I’m 45 and I’m definitely starting to age, even though I don’t look my age. The last few I’ve noticed wrinkles on my neck and one side of my face sagging a bit

PinkAndViolet · 09/04/2022 19:07

I find it so depressing.
'I still turn heads and I'm almost 40.'
OK it's not young anymore but it's hardly ancient is it? I'm 40 in a few months and am not haggard and old looking by any stretch. Got a few more years before that surely Confused

Picoloangel · 09/04/2022 19:10

I have to agree with others that it’s liberating - I felt much more pressure when I was younger. Agree also that I look at old pictures of myself and can’t believe how hard I was on myself and how little I appreciated how lovely my skin was and how swishy my hair was. Youth is definitely wasted on the young!

No I'm still slim at 51. 5' 9" and 64 kg. I've always exercised, and eat healthy food most of the time. I do find it harder to maintain weight. I gave up 🍷 and increased workouts.

LoisLane66 · 09/04/2022 19:14

Never had any work done, no eyelash extensions, brows, nails lips Botox lipo, lifts, no gym either. Occasionally do 6 months of 16/8 fasting and cycle quite a bit on my own. Vegetarian, tee total, non-smoker. Never wear make-up, always good cleanse and moisturise routine + SPF 50 even in winter. No stress, positive outlook, finances good. Live alone. OH 22 years younger. Been together 9 years in June. Being contented is key.

StScholastica · 09/04/2022 19:15

Do looks fade?
My NDN is in her 90s and looks amazing, neat little snow white Bob and the sweetest smile.
My DMum is 88, wrinkly, but with the kindest eyes and the gentlest demeanor. She shines goodness. She looks so cute with her hair in 2 ponytails.
I'm in my 50s, everything still bouncy and working. I'm happy with how I look (much more so than my 20yr old colleagues are with themselves).

Nogoodusername · 09/04/2022 19:16

Late 30s I started looking old. Covid years added about 10 years to me so look super past it now!

Serialbreeder · 09/04/2022 19:17

I didn’t really age for a long time, then I hit 40 and turned into an old hag. Still, there’s always Botox and fillers. The reason old women aren’t desirable is because in nature they’re no longer sexual beings, they can’t have children so they have no need to be attractive.

loadofcrap10 · 09/04/2022 19:17

I'm 51 and IMO, look the best I ever have

wentworthinmate · 09/04/2022 19:17
  1. I'm 49 now and have gained weight which I loath but have no energy to do anything about. Luckily people still think I'm in my 30's but I have definitely peaked!
LargeglassofRosePlease · 09/04/2022 19:17

I'm 45. Not nearly as pretty as I used to be but still not bad in the right light.

Is what it is .

Husband still calls me beautiful though ❤️

Mamabananananana · 09/04/2022 19:21
  1. With first DC ! I always looked waaaay younger and fashionable Now im haggard AF. Considering " help" with my face for the first time!
Poopootatty · 09/04/2022 19:22

I started to get pretty bad under eye hollows in my
mid 30s…then had a child at 37, late loss at 40 and another child at 41. The sleepless nights and the mum-tum that’s appeared and won’t shift second time around have been very ageing. I have a plan though! I spend time to endure j have decent skin and I’m getting back in shape. Once I stop breastfeeding I’m going to treat myself to a few facial tweaks. No desire to look young, just to look less knackered and generally well put together.

DrSbaitso · 09/04/2022 19:22

I still turn heads at almost 40

Me too.

Sorry, I meant "stomachs".

hassletassle · 09/04/2022 19:23

Kids, early 30s. Aged about 10 years in about 3.

FannylovesDick · 09/04/2022 19:25

50, coincided with menopause and the stress of being redeployed to ITU during covid. Twice.

fetchacloth · 09/04/2022 19:25

Early 50s for me around the start of menopause.
Prior to that I easily looked 10 years younger than my real age, but now I look my age 😒

WildOnce · 09/04/2022 19:26

I’m 34 and have had 2 kids in 3 years and have definitely aged. I don’t think I’ve lost my looks just yet but having lost some weight recently after baby number 2 I’m reminded I look a lot better slimmer. On the plus side. Pregnancy and breastfeeding means no hormonal acne!

Benjispruce4 · 09/04/2022 19:30

Late 40s. Lines are ok, sag is hard to cover up. Having said that , I still feel young in my outlook and have no health issues at 51. I’m happy with my look and don’t want to do Botox.
