Neither @MaidenSpeech

In maintained schools in England the Burgundy Book says that deductions for teachers on strike should be calculated on the basis of a day's salary being 1/365th of a year's salary

It's a failry recent decision, 2017 (so after I had left and would have paid 1/195) , and was something of a landmark case and has knock on effects in many industries, apparently

I haven't RTFT but I think there unrealistic views on both sides.
Some ill informed people think teachers work 9-3.30 and get 13 weeks holiday a year.
Some naive teachers think teaching is the only job that is underpaid, undervalued and you are routinely asked to work longer than contracted hours.

Neither are true
From what I read on MN and know (admittedly I don't know the minutiae of the individual jobs) about teaching it sounds very stressful, and I know I couldn't do it. I get stressed out doing a party for about 10 children!!Blush (and I know the classroom aspect is only part of it) I was hugely impressed with my DC teachers during lockdown/home learning periods and I feel fortunate at the level of teaching that was delivered, compared to some other schools.

However I am friends with several teachers, and they (quite reasonably!) have family lives, weekends away, have time for hobbies (a lot are in the same sports club as me) and socialising...just like people working other jobs so i wonder why it is singled out? Even on here there is teaching v "the private sector" when the other job could be anything from Lawyer to retail worker to farmer!Confused
