Porn star martini Pizza Express

Why are Pizza Express advertising 'Porn Star Martinis' on every table at their restaurants? AIBU to find this disgusting for a family restaurant? I don't really wish to explain to my 6 year old what it is.

It’s absolute bollocks that it’s named because of the cut passion fruit looking like a vagina, it clearly doesn’t and a quick google will tell you why it’s named as it is. 🙄

The more common name is Passion fruit martini

@Pinzotti No it's not. Pornstar martini was its original name when the cocktail was created. Passionfruit martini started to be used to make it more family friendly.

I can't say I've seen many 'open vaginas' or images of such in my time however none looked anything like the inside of a passion fruit. I'm struggling to believe that one 😆

For those saying people are 'pearl clutching' about this, this is quite different to a drink being listed on an adult alcohol menu. This is right in the middle of every table in the restaurant full of children and teens. I'm not a prude but this is 2022, not the 90's. They should know better. Porn is a revolting industry that exploits women. Why on earth choose to promote the only drink which glamorises this industry?

Despite my reservations, that is a terrible flyer. What are they thinking 🤦

Although as I mentioned earlier, is there a campaign to get rid from Pizza Express and bars in general? Otherwise it does smack of faux outrage.

I won’t be going to Pizza Express any time soon because I’m not in the UK.

‘Not going’ isn’t much of a solution if you’re already there, and your 12YO is reading the flyer.

The main takeaway from the average, non-stupid 12YO after such a convo with their parent would surely be: porn can’t be as bad as Mum goes on about, if they’ve named a cocktail after someone who stars in it.

Porn = no big deal.

But it's not on the menu. It's a 3 sided vertical flyer which sits on every single flyer at eye level. You'd have to ask them to take it away or put it under the table to be out of eye shot and then you'd still be able to see the others on every other table. If it was in a bar where the clientele are over 18s it would be slightly different but it's not.

Would be no great loss IMO to take this off the menu or change the name. Most people read the ingredients of a cocktail before ordering and isn't passionfruit martini more descriptive anyway?
