Jamie Wallis, The Conservative MP for Bridgend has come out as Britain's first Trans MP, having been diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria.

This is really big news on its own. However Jamie's statement contained lots of other things as well. He was being blackmailed, his blackmailer is in prison. He recently suffered rape. He has PTSD from the rape which caused him to leave the scene of an accident last year, where he crashed his car.

AIBU to feel a bit discombobulated at Jamie Wallis' statement? There is so much information.

If JW is Trans, fair enough, get on with it, say he IS trans. By saying he is not ‘yet’ trans he is the one saying that, for him, Trans is not an innate quality but an acquirable quality or choice.

Anyway, the main issue is his obvious unfitness for office, and sadly (for all of us, not him) he is a long way down the field to be ‘first MP to be a sleazy, criminal liar with a track record as a politician who does not even attend a basic level of meetings’.

Exactly - a possibly abandoned trans widow and small kids; dodgy connections to the “softer” escort side of the sex industry; probably some interest in porn and kink buried under there if he’s been running sugar daddy websites; record of less than wholesome business dealings - it all checks out.

No wonder Tatchell is not keen to make “he/him” the face of “the trans community” for the public…!

Yet twitter was full of NHS staff taking time from their busy days to point our how they would ignore the new guidance from the EHRC on women's single sex spaces. don't you get it the misogyny - ignore women's health, ignore women's concerns - is the same?

I wonder when the court case will be heard and how much this announcement will help his case (from past knowledge of other trans women on trial it should certainly get the judge on side…)

I will be honest , my initial reaction listening to the news on the radio was sympathetic, but it just kept going, 'I am trans, but not quite yet, or may not be but think I would like to be, probably in the future, who knows, I was raped, I have PTSD, I crashed my car and fled the scene'

As a parent of teenagers over the years, your bullshit radar kicks off quite quickly, all it needed was for the news reader to end the story with 'and then ....' add in an assortment of even more highly unlikely scenarios to explain why they did the thing they shouldn't have

With a double centre spread on the extent of his very questionable behaviour. The RW press played a blinder on the trans issue, highlighting what other parties say and being very quiet on Tory support.

When people say at least the Tory's know what a woman is, that is not true, it's the impression given to them by their media.

Could understand him better if he was actually transitioning, taking hormones, planning surgery, growing his hair, dressing as a woman etc etc. To present as a man and say I'm a woman is ludicrous.
