How many times should I be having sex?!

Stupid question..

How many times is the 'ideal' amount you should be having sex to conceive?

Extremely naive - I've been ttc but only having sex 3-4 times a month and only during my 'ovulation week'. Wondering if I'm literally just not having enough sex!!

Am I being unrealistic? How many times is the ideal amount?

Your welcome, I went to the doctors as I was so depressed about it all and made a bit of a scene about it all as before I’d been fobbed off and I wanted to make sure there wasn’t anything physically wrong down there. Luckily had a very young female doctor who seemed to actually have empathy (suppose you loose it eventually as a go!) that worked with me. She suggested epimax cream for the shower as apparently even body washes for sensitive skin can irritate down there and this was adding to dryness. I have PCOS in one ovary so I was worried I wouldn’t conceive but once we started having sex again I got pregnant using the preseed lube on the second month trying (first month didn’t dtd that much).

Let me know how you get on.

@kaleidoscope123

Thank you - I'm so grateful for your response. The lube has been ordered!
I am also bad for excessive amounts of bubble bath which I know is bad as it is!!

My last pelvic screening I actually concerned the gp which upset me further as she couldn't understand my 'pain'!

Will definitely keep you informed

I've only glanced quickly over the responses, but ensuring you are doing the things under your control are important, frequency, timing, preseed lube, orgasm, exercise, general health, relaxation and so on. Been there done that!

Give those a certain amount of time, but I wasted a lot of time and should have went for medical advice earlier with respect to myself and DH. Don't delay on that!

Has your DP/H had children previously? If not, then he should also arrange a GP consultation asap.

OP, make sure the lube does not contain spermicide, as this will improve the sex but hinder your chances of getting pregnant.

You may want to look into a brand of lube which is specifically for people trying to get pregnant, such as Preseed.

Every other day over your fertile period. Recommended by a top obgyn and worked for us.

Yes, this is very important! Either PreSeed or ConceivePlus.

@strawberrysurprise I think there was a thread the other day that contained research showing that even "sperm friendly" lubricant actually hinders conception after all.

I wouldn't normally recommend using it but if the OP needs lube in order for the sex not to be painful, it will still probably help rather than hurt her chances of getting pregnant.
