Sleepy86 · 21/03/2022 21:34

Mine is "reach out" makes me cringe every time I hear it!

Glorieta · 21/03/2022 21:34

"Your good selves"

Said about 15 times in the space of an hour by someone trying to sell their services/expertise to our company

I wanted to scream "actually Stephen (not real name) you don't know us, ....Read the room and our faces....we are not fucking good, in fact we are a bunch of evil bastards inwardly sniggering at you cos you've blown it by being an ingratiating twat. So bye bye now"

Georgeskitchen · 21/03/2022 21:35

When a conversation starts with "I'm not being funny but........"
It almost certainly means that said person IS being funny 😄 😆

futuremoneyinbank · 21/03/2022 21:36

Anything for your 'best self' and "living my best life"
Ridic instead of ridiculous
Anyone who foists their opinion/wisdom/'truth' on others on SM in an aggressive way.

BoldMove · 21/03/2022 21:39

Showcasing.
Moving forward.
Moreish.

Gilly12345 · 21/03/2022 21:42

‘My other half’ phrase irritates me as we are all a whole person surely.
Hun

ClafoutisSurprise · 21/03/2022 21:44

“Do better” - manages to be both infantile and either self-righteously chiding (when said to others) or grovelling at the same time. I imagine the speaker pulling an I’m-disappointed-with-you face and wagging their finger.

I’m sure there is a more adult, sincerer and less childishly smug way of expressing the need to tackle discrimination and the other serious problems this phrase tends to be deployed for.

Katya213 · 21/03/2022 21:46

Own it.

I’m going to put My big girl pants on.

WhatICallMyUsername · 21/03/2022 21:46

Rock up

I rocked up at the shops
She rocked up at my house
He rocked up at the gym

I mean what does that even mean?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 21/03/2022 21:49
@2old2beamum omg yes!

I got pulled into the office the other day because I had upset a colleague by referring to my mother as dead when explaining why I don't have mother's days plans (I don't have kids either). But she is dead. Super dead. It's been 14 years. We cremated her. I've asked to be referred to HR. Maybe they can put me on a course.
Shock

I agree with just about all of these, especially 'Can I get ...'.

'I'm not being funny' is always a truthful statement, and always followed by 'but'.

'Does that make sense?' I had a colleague at one point who said this after almost every sentence, usually unnecessarily, as what she was saying was rarely complicated.

midsomermurderess · 21/03/2022 21:49

'I've been here since it was green fields' seems to be cropping up here with a certain frequency.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 21/03/2022 21:50

To be fair.....friend's husband says it about twenty times a day really annoys me.

Shinyandnew1 · 21/03/2022 21:50

‘I’m not being funny, but,’ is often followed by something that is offensive, racist or both.

Lightningrain · 21/03/2022 21:53

‘Boy did good’
‘Making memories’
‘It is what it is’

Tiredmum100 · 21/03/2022 21:54

Just seen on another thread - boob monster. Makes me feel gross, sorry.

My bad- annoying.

ASeriesOfTubes · 21/03/2022 21:54

"By far and away the [superlative]". It's either "by far ..." or "far and away ...". Not both.

MrsLegend · 21/03/2022 21:54

"Date night" (with your spouse) ... I'm just going out for dinner with my husband.

"They've been on a journey"!!!!

"Nom Nom" ... makes me feel sick

Ginandtonicbiatch · 21/03/2022 21:55

Boobing. This verb is absolute fucking twattery.

HyacynthBucket · 21/03/2022 21:55

"In point of fact"
"Not as such" (meaning "No")
"Have to let you go", (meaning "You are fired").

Why can't everyone just communicate clearly and state what they mean openly?

byuppin · 21/03/2022 21:56

Everything has its time

Good things come to those who wait

DoWhatYouLike · 21/03/2022 21:56

Anything that includes "guys" or "folks"
Starting a sentence with "So"
living my/his/her best life
at the end of the day
my bad
can I get
D'ya know what I mean
anything to do with furbabies/hubby/bestie

HyacynthBucket · 21/03/2022 21:56

And,
"If I am being honest". Well yes, let's hope so. Aren't you honest all the time, then?

Ginandtonicbiatch · 21/03/2022 21:57

I have to confess the word partner really gets on my tits.

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 21/03/2022 21:57

Hi lovely
Speak my truth
Comfort break

I say a lot of the phrases that are mentioned. The preposition one has me Sad. I don’t think I can change.
