Because he was doing me a favour and now I have black splotches around my roots :(

WalkingOnTheCracks · 20/03/2022 16:56

Well, I suggest that you let him do it regularly until he gets good at it.

But I suspect you won't do that.

MichelleScarn · 20/03/2022 16:57

Bleach?! Confused was thinking bad enough with just hair dye that is fixable, but bleach?!!

SheWoreYellow · 20/03/2022 16:58

Can you now do that bit?

Gazelda · 20/03/2022 16:58

So he did you a favour. Didn't do it very well. And now you're annoyed that he doesn't think it's fair I be annoyed at him.

I think he's got a point.

But looking at your pic, I'm surprised he missed such an obvious patch.

I think you need to either do it yourself in future or find a hairdresser who'll do it for you.

@Vapeyvapevape

If I asked my unqualified friend to service my gas boiler and my house blew up I would have no one else to blame but myself for asking someone unqualified to do a job that needs qualifications!
Ah but its not entirely legal to let someone who isn't CORGI reg to service your boiler .

Hair ? Nah , anyone can buy dye and wayhay , havoc awaits !
Some things really are best left in professional hands .
At least he didn't get it in your eyes , OP

betwixtlives · 20/03/2022 16:59

Why didn’t you do it yourself? Confused it’s not like you can’t reach those bits

toomuchlaundry · 20/03/2022 17:01

What is his day job?

Onlyrainbows · 20/03/2022 17:01

I would normally do it myself, but last time he did such a great job, that I thought amazing! But no.... And yes I can fix that bit myself, I should have checked. He's a boat detailer/finisher

I’m all for analogies

But I think this is slightly pushing it!

Blossom64265 · 20/03/2022 17:02

He isn’t trained and you wanted him to do the job in a way no trained hairdresser would agree to do? You really are being unfair on him.

WomanStanleyWoman · 20/03/2022 17:02

If he’d turned it bright green, that’s one thing… but he’s just missed a bit. Any reason why he can’t just do that bit now?

Hoppinggreen · 20/03/2022 17:02

Unless you are actually a boat then YABU

Are you angry with him? Pissed off with him?

If he was messing around / not concentrating - you might have a leg to stand on

But otherwise - he just proved that the previous success was a lucky one off and now you go to hairdressers

Ie not his fault

Takeawaytonight · 20/03/2022 17:04

I love that your username is Alwaysforgiving!🤣

LaurenKelsey · 20/03/2022 17:04

Oh FFS, just fix it. It’s not wrecked, it’s just that the job is not finished. A lot of drama.

Canyoujustgotobedplease · 20/03/2022 17:05

I do my own too and the back is hardest. Next time get him to do the back and then you do the top from ear to ear and above as you can just part in straight lines and do it as you can see it.
He's missed a patch but you can easily do that bit again.
It's not as bad as I'd imagined from the first post.

iklboo · 20/03/2022 17:05

How is boat detailing anything like dying your roots?! It's not like what he's done isn't fixable - he's not hacked lumps off.

Onlyrainbows · 20/03/2022 17:12

The problem is that with such processed hair you gotta be super careful or it can easily break... There's a few random spots at the back/crown too. I did ask him a few times if he got it all because I could tell he wasn't being as thorough as the previous time.

Surely all the more reason you go to a professional?

You took a risk
It didn’t pay off
Unless he was intentionally messing around
Then he can’t be blamed (although I’d be silently fuming, knowing I was being unreasonable!)

This is why you pay a professional to do the job.

@NewYearCalavicci
You MUST weigh in here!

LBFseBrom · 20/03/2022 17:23

It'll grow out quickly enough, onlyrainbows. Nobody died so not worth getting upset about it - but don't let him do you any similar favours in future!

TabithaTittlemouse · 20/03/2022 17:31

He’s not wrecked your hair, he just missed a bit. Your hair is wrecked but not by him.

Walkingalot · 20/03/2022 17:31

Do you think he might have done a bad job on purpose, so you don't ask again?
That bit in your pic is pretty obvious. If you're careful, re apply the bleach careful not to overlap. Annoying though.

MuggleMadness · 20/03/2022 17:31

@Onlyrainbows

Was that you posting as 'always forgiving'??

If so, I'm not sure what the problem is? Why can't he just do the bits he missed?

I've never bleached my hair, so no idea if that's a problem or not?!
