What does your normal Sunday look like? Any tips on not getting that urgh it’s Monday tomorrow feeling?!

Sundays here are lovely. We have a long lazy breakfast followed by getting everything prepared and packed up for the week ahead, then a sunday lunch and chill out. Sounds really boring but our week flows so much better if everything we are likely to need like gym bages etc are all ready to just pick up and go, Its a lazy day really! I have found a solution to the sunday night/ monday morning ugh feeling and that it to plan something nice to look forward to in the week it seems to make it bearable if I have something good to look forward to!

tigerbear · 20/03/2022 09:23

Sunday roast
Board games and Lego if staying in
Walk in the park
Go bowling
Just pottering about, getting a few little jobs done - clearing out mine and DD’s wardrobes to sell stuff on Vinted is my current obsession. So satisfying!

Theoldwoman · 20/03/2022 09:25

As little as possible. I grew up where we didn't mow lawns or garden on Sundays, of course shops were shut (70's) it was a day of rest. We went to my Grandmothers for lunch every Sunday, in the afternoon, we got ready for the week ahead (ironed uniforms, got bags ready etc)

rifling · 20/03/2022 09:25

Go out for a long walk in the morning - but she couldn't today and instead of going on my own, I'm on here! Dh goes to mass - occasionally accompanied by a child. I potter, cook lunch or we go out for lunch. Afternoon is often football related - either watching or someone playing. Pizza for dinner.

rifling · 20/03/2022 09:26

*Go out for a walk with a friend

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 20/03/2022 09:31

A long lie in (no children)
DH takes the dog for a walk

And that's about it Grin

Sometimes we go for lunch or the pub, but generally Sundays are very lazy Smile

dudsville · 20/03/2022 09:31

We wake up at the same time every day, but weekends are lazy long stints in bed with breakfast, coffee, etc. Always followed by a dog walk. Usually followed with random spontaneous stuff. The pandemic gave us our time back so we're no longer scheduled up. Occasionally we have things booked in, but usually we're free. I read and sew more, we sometimes have a matinée. I just don't focus on Monday. Mondays happen, but so do Sundays!

confusedofengland · 20/03/2022 09:33
  • Lie in with tea & a good book in bed
  • Football for DH & DS1 - I often take the other DSes & find a park near to where they are playing, there is no way they would stand watching for over 2 hours. Maybe pop in & see my parents if we haven't on Saturday
  • Perhaps a nice walk - planning to go to a place renowned for its daffodils today
  • Homework
  • Roast dinner or similar

I absolutely love Sundays. Possibly value them even more as I work all day every other Saturday

Chely · 20/03/2022 09:33

Same thing I do every day.... wait for the washing machine to finish

Lolalime · 20/03/2022 09:34

Take sons to football which can take some juggling as sometimes they are in different locations. Then home to cook lunch and after that could be gardening or park visit.

Pascha · 20/03/2022 09:37

Lazy early morning then when dh takes Ds2 to football I generally finish sorting school clothes for next week. Tidy the kitchen, beds etc.

Then we go out somewhere, occasionally a pub roast, more often just take the kids bikes and go for a wander.

Usually a mix of necessary, fresh air and laziness.

Templeblossom · 20/03/2022 09:37

Prep everything for the week ahead, bake etc in the morning.
Quiet and peaceful afternoon either doing hobby or gardening.
Quick and easy dinner absolutely NO slaving over a massive roast.
Relax with nice , gentle tv in the evening.

This has massively helped with going back to work anxiety.

thatsnotmyname43 · 20/03/2022 09:38

Chill day. Weekdays and Saturdays are so busy. Always somewhere to be or something to do. So I really relish having a lie in and lazy breakfast on a Sunday. I can't stay in all day so we usually go for a walk or potter around the shops but by late afternoon we are usually home, cooking Sunday tea, ironing uniforms and packing bags for the week ahead. Occasionally we will go out for a pub lunch.

I don't get that Sunday night dread since working from home!

OfstedOffred · 20/03/2022 09:38

Kids sport activity in the morning - whoever doesn't do that goes to the supermarket for weekly shop.

Lazy afternoon. If weather is nice kids will play in garden while we pretend to faff about with the plants etc, or we'll go for a walk. Roast dinner for tea, or bbq in summer!

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 20/03/2022 09:41

I hate Sundays, always have.
Now I’m retired at least I don’t get that ‘Monday tomorrow’ feeling but Sundays always drag for me.
Today I have walked DDog, put the joint into the oven to slow roast, I’m about to tackle a big pile of ironing then I will do some more gardening.
At least the sun is shining and it’s not the cloudy and cold day they forecast a few days ago!

cobblers123 · 20/03/2022 09:44

Get up and have tea or coffee while reading gardening page on Guardian online, go up to see dad in care home 10 mins walk away, then just faff about in the garden, today I will make some fairy cakes and a lasagne as well.

Sometimes friend comes round and we have tea and chat about anything and everything for a few hours.

Christmas1988 · 20/03/2022 09:47

Sunday is our ‘Fun’ family day, the children have ballet and swimming on a Saturday so we like to do family days on Sunday.

We all have a lie in and a lazy morning then a planned activity, today we are going to the Zoo we have a membership so go often. Other things we enjoy on a Sunday are, swimming, out for Lunch, soft play, arcade, walks on the cliffs…. It’s nice that Sunday’s don’t feel flat to us, we look forward to them the children think Sunday is the best day of the week!

AbleCable · 20/03/2022 09:49

Mornings are generally the same - Tram to the zoo around nine, for a wander and usually have breakfast there. Walk home along the river then have a coffee and the weekly family zoom call (family are in three different countries). Followed by lunch around 2.
Afternoons vary, gardening or read in the sun if weather is good - or crochet and listen to a podcast/watch a movie if it’s wet. Usually do a bit of a tidy as well, though try and do cleaning during the week if I can.

TeenPlusCat · 20/03/2022 09:51

Ironing whilst listening to the radio Archers
Gentle stroll in the afternoon.
Storing up energy and calm for the coming week.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 20/03/2022 09:54

We start with brunch. Then do as little as possible. Some leisurely tidying or sorting out. Get ready for the week ahead. We might go out to Legoland or the climbing park when the season starts.

FelicityFlops · 20/03/2022 10:17

Up early, breakfast, walk the dogs, prep lunch, go to church, come home to Sunday Lunch, often with guests.
After lunch a good brisk walk. Everyone then has a couple of hours to themselves then supper, bit of tv or something similar. Sort out things for the week ahead and bed around 10pm.

TimBoothseyes · 20/03/2022 10:26

This morning I'm having a "virtual coffee morning" with my sisters (1 lives overseas so we do this every 3rd Sunday of the month), then later DP will be doing the housework while I mow the lawns and wash the car....no gender role stereotyping in this house. Grin

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/03/2022 10:28

DS does hobbies on Sundays do they're pretty routine. One at 11am, the other at 2pm. We have a lazy morning, pancakes for breakfast, then go to hobby 1. Then we go to a café for a drink and something to eat, then off to hobby 2. We get home around 4pm, DS reads some of his reading book for school, then we chill and watch a movie together.

I do cleaning during the week as I finish work early on Wednesdays and Thursdays, fuck doing cleaning on a Sunday.

charliebear78 · 20/03/2022 10:40

My Eldest plays football so that's Dads duty! I stay in with the youngest, who usually watches tv or plays out if his friends are about-I do a workout/shower/do housework until they come back from football.
Then we go for lunch and some kind of activity with the youngest.
Elder Son meets friends for the afternoon.
Squeeze in a decent dog walk too.
MIL always comes round on a Sunday-sometimes we make a roast/other meal and she stays for tea.
Or we have a later tea with wine and once kids are in bed/watching tv we also watch a tv series with more wine!!!
I don't mind Sundays and in a way look forward to the routine of the coming week.
I have to go out and do things over the weekend though-could not stay in all day(it annoys me having to wait in whilst they are at football, but it does give me time to do a few jobs I probably wouldn't do)

bruce43mydog · 20/03/2022 10:42

Up at 7.45am, went for a Sunday drive in car this morning, had a breakfast with a large coffee. Ive cleaned the house this morning for 20 minutes, just to keep things ticking. having a quick cup of tea before cleaning the car inside and out. Taking the 2 dogs for a walk latter and waiting in for my oximeter parcel from amazon. Had a health scare this week and was in hospital. Cant seem to relax until I get my results back from my heart scan.
