To be annoyed my FB ‘friend’ is cheating at Wordle

Just that really. Everyone gets the word in 4, 5, 6 tries, 3 on a good day, 2 once in a blue moon. Everyone except for one ‘friend’ who gets it in 2 tries nearly every day. How is that even possible? Go ahead, tell me to get a life.

It just means she’s insecure.

I think each player's approach to wordle is like a mini personality test.
Some like to start with a different word each day others have a tried and tested starter word.
Some use a scatter approach and hope to get lucky where others are planned and strategic. Some are happy to use a strategic 'burner' word to increase the odds of succeeding others just want to risk it for the chance of a lucky strike.
I've really enjoyed doing it (although this particular one frustrated me because there were 8 possibilities after getting 2-5 in place including 2 possible repeat letters).
I actually prefer quordle and now realise there are other games too. I do Nerdle every day but am hopeless at worldle

I watched a youtube video of a maths channel where a computer was programmed to solve it as efficiently as possible, using information theory. It achieved an average score of 3.1. So I would say anyone with a long-term history scoring less than that is cheating.

I wonder if we have the same friend.

I can get it in one by doing it on my phone and then on my laptop!

It is impossible to get it in two every single time without cheating. Anyone who sees her Facebook post who plays wordle will know that. I'd feel sorry for her for feeling the need to cheat in the first place and for being daft enough to think she can get away with it. It sounds like she's never played it properly else she'd know that no-one will believe her.

I love these games (am now hooked on Nerdle and Quordle also). But I play for myself, never share and would derive no pleasure at all from cheating.

I normally get it in 4, 3 on a good day. Love playing against dd and dh although dh has progressed to one with 16 words at once which is too much for my tiny mind!

Sedecordle is easier in a way as it uses most if the alphabet!

Then I got addicted and do it every morning, set my alarm early so I can have a coffee in bed and Wordle, worldle, Quordle & octordle

I don't see Semantle anywhere on your list...

My history has just been wiped so I could play twice today. Even having done it once before I still did it in 2

When lockdown quizzes were a thing, we had one couple who would win every week. It was so obvious what they were doing, I was embarrassed for them.

Not tried Octordle but do the others and also Globle (though the last few days have really pushed my stats to high amounts - have unlimited guesses though - one the other day was Nauru, who had ever heard of that?

Same here. So if after 3 goes you've got ?ight, there are lots of possibilities. If your next word is 'first', that tests fight, right, sight and tight. You don't need to bother about the ight, you know where they go. Hopefully you'll be lucky. If not, you're left with light, might and night. Lemon or melon will test those, and on your sixth go you know what the first letter is so you complete the word.

you can also play in 'hard' mode, which stops you doing that :)

(you have to use the clues you've had in previous guesses)

No point in cheating at wordle it’s so obvious. I got the last four letters in two today but who knew there are so many words ending in those letters. I failed😟

Same here. So if after 3 goes you've got ?ight, there are lots of possibilities. If your next word is 'first', that tests fight, right, sight and tight. You don't need to bother about the ight, you know where they go. Hopefully you'll be lucky. If not, you're left with light, might and night.

You'd have to make a slight adjustment here. Because you know there is already a t in there, using "first" won't help confirm or rule out tight. I'd use "trust" instead.

It's the easiest thing in the world to do. Do it on one computer. Take as many goes as you need. Then redo it on a new computer and cheat.

Because it's so easy I am not in the slightest bit interested in people who do it. They are showing themselves to be absolute twats not worthy of a second thought.

Playing Wordle is absolutely fine. Being a prick who thinks it's cool to show off your cheating skills is not cool.
