Good looking and a good voice - I'm not on tiktok so this singer is new to me!
Even the song seems ok!

don’t think you can enter established singers but if we did we’d win every time. I think the difference is that the Eurovision entries are played on neighbouring countries radio stations and well, we don’t have any neighbours

You can enter established acts and lots of countries do. But it seems to be a BBC policy to enter unknown singers most of the time, which is nice

Andreax4 · 10/03/2022 19:48

Have known him since before he was famous. His voice is amazing but we will probably come last!

ldontWanna · 10/03/2022 19:49

Just saw it. There's no way in hell that will do well, even ignoring al the politics involved.

ldontWanna · 10/03/2022 19:53

They should send Nathan Evans with the Wellerman or similar and really put on a show.

FoxyFoxyLoxy · 10/03/2022 19:55

Ukraine could turn up and not play a note and they'd win.

axolotlfloof · 10/03/2022 20:02

I like it.
Obvs we don't have a chance though. Ever.

Sunshinedreaming2022 · 10/03/2022 20:10

Ukraine will win. Their act isn’t too bad as well. Norways is epic though.
For the first time since 2016 we are not the most hated country in Europe so, even though Russia isn’t in it, we still have half a hope of some points.
Although I thought our song was rather dull. A bloke and a Ballard. Same for the last 2 contests. And both of those we came last, can’t see why this one will suddenly be any different.

SheldonsStainedSpot · 10/03/2022 20:18

Ukraine won’t win just based on the current situation. If they had a good song at the same time they might have done. Politics and war just don’t seem to affect the results much. I mean, Russia came third the year Ukraine won with their song about past wars (the song Russia complained about to the competition organisers because of the implications it was about the current issues) even while tensions were high about Crimea. You’d have thought Russia would have been near the bottom if outside events had any effect on the results. Israel won despite what was happening with them and Palestine.

Well, if you think the UK sends dull songs that's probably the reason we're losing Wink, not the fact that " everyone hates us"!

I don;t know OP its always political voting! However what I do know is my son and his partner are off to the Eurovision village and I am so so jealous!

Could you Please explain what you mean by political voting and show some proof? If the UK won would you still think it's political?
MrsTerryPratchett · 10/03/2022 20:37

Malta always gave us douze points until we crapped the bed. Now nul points.

It's not all political by any stretch but some is!

Iputthetrampintrampoline · 10/03/2022 20:45

What I mean by political voting is not so much as it sounds but I guess what I mean is Spain always votes for portugal, Ireland used to always vote for us, Denmark and sweeden etc ...the countries seem to form an alliance,Terry wogan could always tell you who would vote for who and 9/10 he was right sure enough it happened. I personally think its the best part of the comp the voting bit, I cannot ever remember apart from AbbA being my exception that the best songs ever won! More tactical voting than political I guess really in my opinion.

SallyCinnamon3009 · 10/03/2022 20:50

No chance- unless we suddenly get rid of the visa requirement for Ukrainian refugees

lljkk · 10/03/2022 20:54

It's quite possible no on else will get any points if Ukraine enter.

CharacterForming · 10/03/2022 20:55

I want the "it's all political and nothing to do with the song" people to explain why everyone hates Spain? And why everyone hated Germany for year after year after year except the couple of years that randomly coincided with the years they happened to send catchy songs. And where Israel dug up all those hordes of neighbours. Likewise Portugal's random new neighbours in 2017 although they seem to have lost them all in the next twelve months and everyone hated them again for the next two years..

And why Australia, Israel, Azerbaijan, Russia, Switzerland, Norway, Armenia, Albania, Iceland, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and Moldova are meant to give a bollocks about Brexit.

The big five rarely score well unless they've got an absolutely massive banger. Not being in the semi-finals obviously gives you a risk that you won't make it through to the finals but it's a huge disadvantage when you get there.

CharacterForming · 10/03/2022 20:56

You're not a keen Eurovision watcher are you?

But each country votes for 10 (?) countries though.
lljkk · 10/03/2022 20:59

Ah, I guess I don't know the rules! I didnt' know the votes from any one country had to be spread out over minimum 10 other countries. I wonder how they do that (well, not really, but sounds tricky)

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 10/03/2022 20:59

The song is fucking awful! But not in a so bad it's good Eurovison way. Just in a miserable warbling kinda way.

We will never win Eurovison.

I believe Bill Bailey threw his hat in the ring after last year's effort.

The UK need to inject a bit of British humour and compress if we ever want to get anywhere.

Yes, I take it very seriously 😄

Jellybean23 · 10/03/2022 21:01

We don't have a snowflake's chance in hell of ever winning Eurovision again.

Why are you even on this thread? Grin
SuitcaseOfWhine · 10/03/2022 21:02

@KatherineJaneway

I heard the song and am not a fan but we'd come near bottom anyway even if Adele entered.
I think we should send Fat Les to sing Vindaloo. That's the British stereotype in Europe surely?

We do send shit songs, but I also think it's that with just not being liked in Europe. It's a bad combination.

CuteOrangeElephant · 10/03/2022 21:03

Where does this idea come from that everyone hates the UK? No one gives a shit about the UK. People vote for the songs they like best. Don't want to come last? Start sending better songs.
