To think I've scraped a pass?

Recently passed my driving test first time with 4 minors, DH has drove for the past 25 years so it was about time i got it done.

But the question is aibu to think it was just a Lucky day?

I was absolutely crying when I had passed as all my hard work paid off but recently while being in the car with DH hes picking up on things I'm doing wrong "constructive criticism" and I take on board what he says and Try to resolve it but part of me feels like should I have passed?

DH passed before we had kids so he was a young driver and had noone criticising his driving whereas now we have 2 young kids who will be in the car with me at all times so I am very cautious.

I'm not sure if it's normal to feel like this or if it was just a lucky day for me to pass.

Mistakes are putting the car into the wrong gear (couldn't seem to find 4th gear from 5th) not being in the right gear going around a corner, stalling a few times and being hesitant at junctions.

YABU - all new drivers feel quite nervous and make mistakes it will all come to you.

YANBU - you shouldn't be making mistakes gear are something you should know inside out.

"Mistakes are putting the car into the wrong gear (couldn't seem to find 4th gear from 5th) not being in the right gear going around a corner, stalling a few times and being hesitant at junctions."

Apart from the being hesitant at the junction if those are your 'regular' mistakes then I think you were lucky to pass on the say.

I don't think he needs to point out your mistakes though as it seems can point them out to yourself anyway.

It probably doesn't help and you maybe nervous in the car with with him which Is why you are feeling nervous but i know its a bit more money but as you'll have kids in the car to give you that reassurance why not do a pass plus?

@poppins2016 I didn't have the struggle with the instructor as his car only had 5 gears so the placement of 4th from 5th was easier whereas DHs car has 6 gears x

@mrsbitaly this is something I'm hugely considering.

I have been driving for a decade and still sometimes can't find a gear - I just go into a different one. I set off in 3rd IN MY DRIVING TEST and still passed. Don't stress about that sort of thing - sometimes my car is a little grumpy and just won't go into first (have had 3 cars with that particular quirk) so I regular start in second. I didn't feel like I had got the hang of driving until I had driven 10k miles honestly so don't stress - you'll get more confident.

@gladioli23 it was a pain when I wasn't getting the right gear at the start as I was getting flustered but now I feel more confident I try twice and if I still can't get it I bring th speed down a bit more and put it in to 3rd. I've been doing around 70 miles a day since Monday so definitely clocking up the miles and experience and becoming more and more confident
