Child scared by dog.

My daughter who is five was walking along a low wall when I dog barked at her and made her jump so she fell off onto her wrist. To be fair the dog was stationary and sat with the owners next to the wall but they made no attempt to see if she was alright and seemed almost smug that she got what was coming her for getting close to their dog. If they knew their dog was a barker why didn't they move to side? Aibu to be mad at the owners? Why are some dog owners so entitled? Perhaps it's just one of those things but at least a look of concern wouldn't have gone amiss.

God grief, how precious - is never assume that a child would be so incredibly sensitive that a dog bark would send her flying into the stratosphere

@VelvetChairGirl

so she was on the wall, walking along the top of it and you were not holding her hand while she did so, when she is only 5?
You hold the hand of a 5 year old!?

Sorry OP but you are massively overthinking this. The dog and your child likely startled each other. Have you ever had a dog? Even the most obedient dogs bark at times, that’s their way to communicate. Is your child always perfect, or does she once in a blue moon do something a bit out of character? Come off it, this is not a big deal at all.

However. If I had seen my dog bark and the child fell over as a result of being scared. I’d smile at the child nicely and say “Are you okay? Dog is harmless really, but sorry he scared you”.
I wouldn’t really be that sorry as it was not a big deal, but good manners would kick in. :)
I’m sure your daughter is perfectly fine now.

Dogs bark. Your dd can fall if walking on a wall. If she doesn't want to fall don't walk on the wall. Yabu and abit OTT

I’m struggling here. How was the dog both so big as to not be below her, but also so tiny that none of you could see it before she was right there?

I need a diagram.
