Just that really. Sociopathic Patel refusing visas. In a time where we need leadership & empathy & intelligence there's a ducking idiot at the helm & Rees~Mogg making a fortune with insider trading.
Who the hell will admit to being so sociopathically selffish & grabby to still vote Tory?

The protests supporting Hamas/Palestinians in London should have been broken up, Hamas have been killing raping, torturing, beheading, burning alive men women and children, they have kidnapped 150 people, its likely they have a very bleak future.

I'm all for protest in normal circumstances but not in this case, once again, the rhetoric of the Govt doesn't match the realities of peoples lives, the Govt passed laws recently, allegedly to prevent this type of protest... why was it allowed to go ahead????

You really don’t understand

Forcing someone to do pointless work is an authoritarian thing. Left wing.

I did my best to give
mine information to make their own decisions, and to enable what they wanted. That’s a freedom thing. Right wing.

Utter bollocks.

I think you have your answer.

And there aren't many of them.

verdantverdure · 12/10/2023 15:46

Is it people who care so much about the rights of women that they're ok with rapists getting no jail time?

Princessandthepea0 · 12/10/2023 18:56

I mean seriously - read the fucking room. Something bad happens to Israel and British Jews are now fearing for their safety. Schools closing, guards needed. Riots and people with these views attracted to conferences of Labour. The previous, very serious history of this party and the people it still clearly attracts. The absolute front of people to tell other people that their fears aren’t valid and deserve to be argued with. Disgusting and the typical self absorbed behaviour of people right now.

OMG12 · 12/10/2023 21:42

R37sraY · 11/10/2023 23:36

So do I. Those feelings are valid.

Wonderful work colleague terrified for her family right here in the UK.

Yes, even the slightest indication of anti semitism needs shooting down in flames. How can people not see this as a priority? Can people not learn a single fucking thing from history. Jews have been being threatened in the UK for many years. Hamas have stated they want to Annihilate all Jews. They think beheading babies and burning families alive is ok. Hamas is scum. Who the fuck in their right minds supports these people?

And therein lies the problem. And the excuses that will be peddled by Labour should they win the next election.
If something 'good' happened under Labour and was continued under the Tories, the credit is all Labour's
If something 'bad' happened under Labour, we ignore that fact and blame the Tories for not putting it right.
Your argument would be a lot more credible if you could just remove your blinkers and accept that Labour is not the answer to every problem we have.

You've missed the point. My post isn't claiming that Labour would have got everything right. It's pointing out that putting up posts of things Labour got wrong over 14 years ago doesn't help the Tory cause when, in the intervening period, they have simply made the situation considerably worse.

Retire? 19 year old kids know they can earn twice as much in America and Middle East.

Not really, there are one or two issues like getting visas and green cards, and actually getting jobs. To say nothing of the cost of living in those countries if you don't have health care pretty firmly sewn up.

R37sraY · 13/10/2023 00:00

Alexandra2001 · 12/10/2023 07:40

Why is forcing people to do pointless work "Left Wing"? that's just your opinion and very much incorrect.

Far Left or Right is about control and zero to do with "Freedom"

Left = big Govt = more control

Right = small Govt = more freedom

How is that not obvious?

These are the kids it’s better not to lose. The ones who could get jobs anywhere.

Nah thats just what you believe or have written.... small low tax Govt means less public services, less GP appointments, longer waiting lists, crappy schools, potholed roads and less freedom, there is no freedom for the 8m, in pain, on NHS waiting lists.

Many centre left Govts in Europe have far more local control than we do, with our very centralised top down Tory nanny state Govt.

Me too, all the labour voters slating Conservatives but no one can give me any labour policies etc which will rectify any of the problems, they just slag the conservatives off, give me some hard facts please, change my mind.

I’m not remotely interested in attempting to change closed minds. It would be a waste of my time and energy, simply so you can pick holes in whatever I say. We’ve just had the Labour Party conference and the media has been wall to wall coverage, if you’re really interested just read this week’s news.

‘Not just dishonest but deeply hypocritical’
after Sir Keir Starmer went to 21 meetings of the Sentencing Council, it decided not all child sex offenders should go to prison.

Don’t you think it’s terrible that Govt restricts access to pain relief? They don’t do that in much of Europe.

Eating and heating are more important than Govt “services”. Cuba used to boast of its medical services while lifestyles tumbled.

Dont feel secure that the wealth capitalism has given you will last as freedom retreats. Argentinians and Venezuelans also thought it couldn’t happen there.

BIossomtoes · 13/10/2023 09:34

Don’t you think it’s terrible that Govt restricts access to pain relief?

It doesn’t. You can buy pain relief, including cocodemol, in any supermarket and if you need stronger drugs they’re available on prescription.

Prescription is restriction. Your complaint was people waiting in pain.

I agree with you on these Tories though. They are not capitalists and have increased the state horribly.

The one area of state that is actually useful to small producers and service providers has fallen apart. These Tories do not protect them against theft, damage, fraud, non-payment, inflation. UK living standards can’t survive if this persists.

Crikeyalmighty · 13/10/2023 09:51

@R37sraY no, that's just what your own political viewpoint is. You are perfectly entitled to that viewpoint but it's not a fact. I've lived in Denmark, yes it had more control over public services and has higher tax, but you know what everything functioned and worked, more couples worked full time and incomes were higher because high quality childcare was £240 a month - right from 3 months up to 5. It was a totally different mentality and actually very refreshing. It felt uplifting and industrious. No council tax, no national insurance, just higher tax covering it off. Good health care, good public transport. A big emphasis on young people, high end social housing and young families. Not everyone going down the dog eat dog route . I don't ever think it will go like that here but I think it would suit a lot of hard working families,

Shame this isn’t a conversation over coffee.

I would love to understand more about Denmark.

When I was there visiting my cousin, a huge number of people seemed to be pregnant, which is good.

I pay my taxes. They buy me civilisation.

BIossomtoes · 13/10/2023 15:34

It wasn’t, that was someone else. Do you really want more drugs on the streets? Because that’s what not restricting some to prescription use would entail.

Crikeyalmighty · 13/10/2023 16:08

@R37sraY it's a very interesting way of doing things. I do accept it wouldn't suit everyone and there are winners and losers- you end up paying an awful lot of tax for less return if you are older with no kids for example. However the overall mentality is that it's more about society as a whole. It's not quite what people think though - it doesn't encourage laziness- in fact you can see a lot of school children in at breakfast club at 8.15am -and the people do like to make money - it's quite capitalist- it just has a strong social underpinning for all - and those that want to make more than just enough build on that underpinning. Tax is high as are prices, but so are wages , so it kind of balances- they don't allow Amazon- so you tend to get more retail thriving (but I used to order from Amazon Germany too) and they don't allow Uber either. In some ways it's quite old fashioned and yet in others it's the most digital based place I've been too. I was impressed with their covid handling- and yes for months we had to be tested very regularly (2 or 3 times a week) and have it on an app if you wanted to get in anywhere at all - even going for a coffee.
