Where would you flee to if war came to us ?

Sorry really not wanting to sound alarmist. But just pondering on the thought of which country we could seek refuge in, should the worst happen?

Our European neighbours would be out, as they'll have their own issues.

So where could we go ? Interesting to think about with all that's going on and how the general public view refugees...

Just out of curiosity to all the people saying they would flee to the countryside, where would you actually envisage staying? Would there be massive refuge centres in Scotland, Wales and Cornwall or are you all going to buy up Go Outdoors and head off with tents etc? And for all those saying they have a friend/relative in these areas, don’t you think all their other friends and relatives would have the same idea? Their homes are going to be bursting at the seems. And when we all get to the countryside where are we getting food and clean water and what about sanitation etc?

Well dp still goes on about the time I growled ' who the fuck do you think you're talking to?' during a row about 20 years ago and he's never dared repeat said behaviour. So I'll be on the front line, scaring the Russians with my face and the now menopausal version of me. 😬

Our problem is we can’t just walk over the border to other countries! Can’t just load up our cars and drive as far as we can go. We would only have limited boats and planes which would probably be stopped in a full scale war scenario.

That's exactly what I was thinking - we are an island and it wouldn't be that wasy to leave.

I'm not sure I'd go anywhere really, my family all live further away from cities than me so perhaps I'd go and stay with them for company as much as anything.

I have family in Australia and ds has family in America so possibly we could make our way there but I can't see it really.

we've already thought about this. We will head to Scotland. Take the tent and try live in outdoors for as long as possible.

I live in the arse end of Wales, just between mountain ranges, beyond the sheep around us we’re isolated and not worth bothering with so we’d be staying put. I would expect us to be inundated with evacuees from the cities if the shit hit the fan in the UK, but if anyone wants dibs on the left wing of the cellar let me know and bring gin with you!

@bagelsandcheese I can't see the locals welcoming you with open arms, most land is owned by someone and is worked to provide resources, so you would most likely be directed to a camp of like minded people full of makeshift shelters.

I'm in the middle of Wales. If there's an invasion here then realistically will anywhere else be safe? My parents have a place in Italy but I'm assuming that if I'm under attack in the UK then Italy won't be much safer.

My DH is Irish so Ireland I suppose but would have to stay with the outlaws so I might take my chances and stay out with our dog and cat!

I wouldn't leave. I'd stay and do what I could.

Ummm...if we end up getting nuked then there isn't really a safe place that exists in the world, surely?? We're in Scotland and we will stay put.

Right next to Salisbury Plain trading area and Middle Wallop. I can see that area being blown to smithereens pretty early in any attack on our shores.

Everyone is welcome to come to me. We have a cellar with a well in it, it’s a bit damp but we keep the wine down there.

Nowhere to go really. However, I do have family on the Westen Isles, so would probably look to head there with the kids if need be. (Note to self, chat with sibling and reserve our space now!!)

I’m already in rural-ish Scotland so it sounds like a few of you are coming here? Will get the sofa bed ready… although I’m not sure what kind of global crisis you’re picturing where most of Europe is a blazing warzone but you’re safe with a quick run up the M6!

I'd stay and fight - 100%. I'd like to be able to get the DCs to safety, so if NI was safe, then I'd get them to my family there but otherwise I'd keep them close and fight to the death.
