AIBU but isn't it a bit daft to end all Covid restrictions so soon.....

I'm pretty worried TBH, particularly the move from people not having to isolate if they have Covid. Let's face it a lot of people won't be able to afford to isolate! Surely this will simply allow the virus to circulate more widely - so more people with Covid, and more vulnerable people with Covid. What happens when the vaccine immunity starts to wane? What happens if we get a really dodgy variant? Why can't the government impose mandatory mask wearing on transport and shops? This would stop spread, I'd really like to hear views on this please.

@Curiousmouse

Ridiculous to end testing for covid and isolation with it. That isn't lockdown.
But YOU can still do all that if YOU want to!

Ridiculous comment ignoring the fact that spread depends on collective behaviour and CAPITALS don't change this stupidity

Where can you still PCR test please?

I have covid at the moment. I feel a bit sick and that sore back of nose thing when you're getting a cold. Only tested as DC has it and I had been administering to what I thought was a migraine for them.
However, if I were to pass it in to my friend who is CEV it could kill them as they have issues with lungs, heart, kidneys, liver and pancreas. We were due to meet this week and I would have assumed that I was just a little 'below par' had I not checked.

At present, DC and I are mask wearing and keeping to set areas indoors. DH has remained negative having kept away from us.

Quite frankly I wasn't prepared for the spleen exhibited by some responders on this issue. I was only outlining my concerns and just wanted some reasoned opinions. One poster saying that mask wearing makes no difference to contagion is just plain silly - er...so why do surgeons wear masks? My view is that we have to take individual responsibility to stop ourselves and others dying - so:
  • we should wear masks wherever we can.
  • self isolate if you have Covid

But thanks for your opinions. It's given me a true snapshot of the state this country is in.

With anything you will get people with differing views. Covid seems to bring out extremes from not worried at all to overly cautious.

The mask thing is strange. I think if people want to wear them carry on, if they don't fine also. Many wear and constantly adjust or touch and some wear incorrectly anyway so a bit pointless really.

The important thing is are hospitals able to cope with covid now - it appears they are. More treatments and with the success of vaccinations then less people actually need hospital treatment.

Are you particularly vulnerable @Diamondsareforever123 or just over worried? I am CEV but I have tried to keep some sense of perspective throughout and now fully vaccinated trust that will help. I want to life and not hide away anymore.
