ASDA having no checkouts that are not self serve is stupid

So it's a rant really , I've not been to the ASDA I normally go to for a few weeks and in that time they have removed all tills that are not self serve 😞 it's absolutely ridiculous it's so incredibly slow even when you don't struggle but older people who were struggling had to have staff help them anyway so why not at least keep 1 or 2 tills normal I honestly can't understand why this is supposed to be better .
Yabu nothing wrong with this it's better
Yanbu there should be normal tills available if you don't want to scan your own shopping.

I don't go into any supermarkets that don't have mostly person led tills.

It is bad for customers and bad for staff who will eventually be made redundant.

The only way to stop it is to

a) ask for a till to be opened
b) write/tweet the Head Office and tell them that you won't be shopping there any more.

If millions do this, that will be an end to self serve tills.

exactly as above.

I'm not a lawyer but given the nature of some disabilities, is no tills really compliant with disability laws? My late father could not have managed a self service till with his limited sight.

I asked for a till to be opened and they declined. I am sorry to say that I left my shopping at the till and will never use Asda again.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Asda does have checkouts that aren't self-service.

I love this kind of comment. I feel sure that if I were to start a thread by saying 'When my recycling was picked up this morning ...', someone would be sure to tell me I must be a troll because their recycling isn't collected on a Tuesday.

I hate self serve with a passion. They always play up when I use them. Either not registering things in the "bagging area" or claiming there's an unexpected item. Then I have to wait for a member of staff to sort it out.
My ex loved them and they only played up for him if i was stood with him. Not even if I scanned it, just if i was there Hmm

They always play up for me, too.

In fact, my powers of disrupting self-service checkouts can even affect other shoppers. I was using one when a man at the adjacent one was trying to to scan a multipack of underpants.

Every time he scanned them, the checkout's robot voice told him to put his produce on the scales!
