Would you leave your kids poop at someone else's house?

AIBU to think it's ill mannered to leave your child's dirty/poo nappy in someone's house or bin?

I just had a event in my home with a few families and someone threw their child's nappy full of poo in my bedroom bin without it being in a nappy bag and I felt abit annoyed by it. The nappy was folded but still.

Personally, I wouldn't throw my child's poop nappy in someone's bedroom especially withou a nappy bag and in a bin that has no lid. If I had to get rid of it I would put it in a nappy bag and either take it with me or throw it in a kitchen bin or something with a lid.

Do you guys think I'm being unreasonable here?

@CatherinedeBourgh

This thread reminds me of an interaction I had with a friend well before I had dc.

She had changed her dc's nappy, and asked me what she should do with the dirty one. It was clearly disposable, so somewhat confused I said 'er, bin it?'.

She happily nodded and said 'where?', while standing next to a bin.

I answered 'erm, in the bin?'

She happily nodded again and put it in the bin.

I had never until this moment understood what the hell that conversation was about. I cannot believe that someone would be unhappy that a disposable item should go in a bin. That's what bins are for! Just empty them regularly, what's the big deal?

I used reusable nappies, so never had to face this dilemma myself.

Wet nappies - no problem with it going in the kitchen bin.

Shitty nappies - in a nappy bag and into the outside bin before the eh stink the whole house out.

Why is this hard to comprehend?

If it's in a nappy bag it won't stink the whole house out. That's the point of a nappy bag.

They still stink, even in a nappy bag. I am of course talking about children on solids, not newborns.

Gross

BasicBinaryBltch · 21/02/2022 11:51

People saying outside bin- do you think people in flats are going down 15 floors every time their baby poos? It's not gross if you actually change your bin regularly like you should be doing.

Indoor bin is fine, wrapped if possible. The problem is using a bedroom bin, that's just nutty. Ask the host where they want the nappy to go.

BasicBinaryBltch · 21/02/2022 11:53

Oh yes, and taking it home is completely ridiculous. Shoes indoors is uninviting, but you can sit in my house with a shitty, leaky nappy in your handbag.

All the flats I lived in had a rubbish chute so no need to go down

Thanks for the replies everyone!

I wasn't 'upset' or 'angry'. I understand it's not a huge deal. I put the nappy outside myself. But I was just wondering if I was unreasonable to think that it's not a nice thing to do in someone else's house especially a very stinky one and especially in a bedroom bin with no nappy bag!

Personally at someone else's house I would put it in a outside bin/ask the host. I do the same with period pads tbh.

Next time you have such an event tell people as soon as they enter with a baby or a child under 5, where they can change their child and what to do with their dirty nappies as it is clear some people are too thick or ill-mannered to ask what to do.

Also make sure you have some spare nappy bags around.

Clymene · 21/02/2022 13:39

Shit smells. It's why we flush it down the loo.

dottymac · 21/02/2022 17:14

Worse still when they leave and unbagged shitty nappy on your kitchen counter. Be gone and never darken my doorstep again 😵

FairWindClearSailing · 22/02/2022 14:16

I'd bag it and put it in the bathroom bin. I mean that's where period pads go, right? Cotton buds, floss. It's a gross bin anyway.
I'd likely tell my friend too to double check that was ok or ask if she wants me to put it straight outside.

SartresSoul · 22/02/2022 14:32

I’d bag it up and ask to put it in the outdoor bin. Putting it in a bedroom bin especially when unbagged is disgusting.
