To ask what you wear to go to sleep?

Ok, I know this might be an odd question but I have wondered this for a long time and I’ve finally decided to ask.

I am 39 and for my whole adult life my bedroom “attire” has been the very attractive combo of over sized men’s t-shirt and pants 😬😳 Ever since I was a teenager, every night, come rain or shine, heatwaves and snow storms this is what I wear when it comes time to close my eyes and actually sleep! I am very happy with my outfit of choice and won’t be changing it but I do realise that perhaps it is more of a “young persons” sleep style. I can’t imagine that I will be wearing the same when I’m 80 BUT I don’t feel comfortable in anything else so have no idea what I would wear!!!

So ladies (if you don’t mind sharing) what is your sleep suit comprised of, and if you are feeling really brave what age are you? Am I still living my best teenage life in my dreams (literally) or am I completely normal and all the adverts for silky, fleecy, penguin covered items are fake news for those of us —nearly— in our 40’s

Usually just in knickers. If it’s absolutely freezing I’ll wear a massive t shirt too, but this is rare. I get very hot at night.

BennieAndBert · 21/02/2022 08:29

Nothing unless I’m ill or it’s really staggeringly cold. Then I wear some really warm brushed cotton pyjamas.

dotmckee · 21/02/2022 08:37

A secret support vest from m and s, pants and either a pair of pj shorts or long trousers depending on the weather. I am a 36DD and like the extra support the built in crop-top gives.

DontWiltMySpinachPlease · 21/02/2022 08:47

Wearing full length pyjamas doesn't seem that common but it's the only way I can sleep! Fleece, cuff-legged, cotton, it doesn't matter, that and a long sleeve t-shirt and I sleep comfortably

QuinionsRainbow · 22/02/2022 23:01

Nothing, even through DCs "early morning visiting" phase, now long since passed. Been that way for yonks. DH ditto, but he's a bit of a furnace anyway.

newfriend05 · 22/02/2022 23:03

PJ bottoms nothing on top

TheChosenTwo · 22/02/2022 23:10

Nothing usually, occasionally when it’s absolutely freezing knickers and a vest. The idea of wearing pyjamas in bed makes me feel claustrophobic! I fidget in my sleep, I can imagine myself mid nightly death crocodile roll getting all snagged up in pyjamas and bedding and somehow suffocating myself Grin
So no, no clothes for me!

Avarua · 22/02/2022 23:14

I sleep in the Nicky Nude. Airs everything out, lol.

Keladrythesaviour · 22/02/2022 23:18

Pants and a pair of loose cotton 3/4 length pj bottoms. Nothing on top unless we are staying away when I wear a soft bralet just in case someone my mil let's themselves into our bedroom in the morning.
DH would prefer I wore nothing but I can't sleep without pants on Confused in summer I might lose the on bottoms, or occasionally wear his boxers.

AncientofMuMu · 22/02/2022 23:21

I sleep in the nip unless I'm staying in a hotel or at a friends house and have done since my teens - I'm in my early 40s.
I move about a lot so any nightwear gets twisted or rides up and it's so uncomfortable.
I don't understand how people find clothes comfortable to sleep in but dh seems happy sleeping in shorts.

lisaandalan · 22/02/2022 23:22

John Lewis pjs. Love them, x

Everley · 22/02/2022 23:22

Pajamas that are leggings and an oversized short sleeved t-shirt (from ASOS) In winter I may swap the t-shirt for a long sleeved, oversized t-shirt (men’s range from M&S or ASOS). In summer I wear a t-shirt and pants.

Always socks though. I physically cannot sleep without socks on. Even in 35 degree heat.

I’m 35. Can’t see me ever changing my PJ preferences. It’s taken me this long to find what I’m really comfy in and what I hate - vests, shorts, nighties.

narcdad · 22/02/2022 23:23

Soft cotton vests and big knickers, how anyone wears pj's I don't know, I've tried in the past but the legs get all twisted and night dresses end up all scrunched round my top / neck.

lioncitygirl · 22/02/2022 23:29

Nothing.

YouCantTourniquetTheTaint · 22/02/2022 23:31

I'm 36, and I wear thin elasticated shorts and thin vests, or just my knickers if it's hot. I am like a human oven, and still have my fan on, so can't be doing with fleecy Pj's, onesies or sweatpants.

I can't wear socks in bed because they make me too aware of my toes, I don't wear slippers or any other type of house shoes, because they're foot prisons. I'd go barefoot in Sainsbury's if I wasn't concerned about catching the foot version of the clap.

Ibizafun · 22/02/2022 23:42

Anything pure cotton

MidnightMeltdown · 22/02/2022 23:46

@Comedycook

A slip nightie...I think they're sometimes called a chemise. I wear them whatever the weather. I detest wearing pjs in bed.

I would like to wear one of these but have yet to find one that my boobs don't fall out of in the night! Blush. I also find that they ride up around my waist at night and are generally really uncomfortable. Do others not have these problems with flimsy nighties??

I tend to wear PJs. In winter it's usually leggings and a long sleeved top, or velvet ones if very cold. In summer it's shorts and tshirt style.

MrsSugar · 22/02/2022 23:50

A t shirt style nightie and knickers. I hate pyjama trousers all twisting round my legs

Ballsaque · 22/02/2022 23:53

T-shirt style nightie. I buy about 3 sizes bigger though. No knickers,I think it’s good to let it breathe a bit!

singlepringlenotbychoice · 22/02/2022 23:58

Pants 🩲 that actually look like that emoji and a vest top or just pants if it's too hot.

I can't bear nighties that ride up and get all bumfled round your waist and jammies just get all twisted.

Iluvfriends · 23/02/2022 00:00

I dont wear anything to sleep. If just chilling on top of the bed I'll wear short sleeved mans t- shirt with regular pj bottoms cut down to my preferred length. I hate full length or too short bottoms so i buy full length and cut down.

OrganisedChaos22 · 23/02/2022 00:01

Pj top, pants
Or night shirt and pants.
Absolutely can't have anything on my legs or long sleeves. It panics me for some reason
