To ask what you wear to go to sleep?

Ok, I know this might be an odd question but I have wondered this for a long time and I’ve finally decided to ask.

I am 39 and for my whole adult life my bedroom “attire” has been the very attractive combo of over sized men’s t-shirt and pants 😬😳 Ever since I was a teenager, every night, come rain or shine, heatwaves and snow storms this is what I wear when it comes time to close my eyes and actually sleep! I am very happy with my outfit of choice and won’t be changing it but I do realise that perhaps it is more of a “young persons” sleep style. I can’t imagine that I will be wearing the same when I’m 80 BUT I don’t feel comfortable in anything else so have no idea what I would wear!!!

So ladies (if you don’t mind sharing) what is your sleep suit comprised of, and if you are feeling really brave what age are you? Am I still living my best teenage life in my dreams (literally) or am I completely normal and all the adverts for silky, fleecy, penguin covered items are fake news for those of us —nearly— in our 40’s

Men's pyjamas, for the past three decades. I sleep with windows open or slightly ajar for most of the year so prefer to keep warm. Can't stand most women's nightwear - might change my mind if it ever came in something other than ridiculous candy colors.

pawpaws2022 · 20/02/2022 23:52

Legging type pjs
Currently wearing these Grin i like that the top is oversized and the bottoms don't ride up

To ask what you wear to go to sleep?
Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 20/02/2022 23:52

Dh boxers and a vest top. Sometimes a tee-shirt of I'm cold.

Hellorhighwater · 20/02/2022 23:52

Oversize t shirt, leggings if one of my many dependents is going through an insomniac phase. I’d prefer to sleep bottomless, if I didn’t have to keep getting up (I do).

Can’t sleep in socks, even though I wear two pairs in the day. I have heat pad down near my feet for if it’s cold (I don’t like a full electric blanket, but warm feet are blissful)

ISpyCobraKai · 20/02/2022 23:53

Pjs, either thin t shirt material, or fleece in winter.
If it's v warm then shorts and vest type.

In winter I also have on the electric blanket.

I'm aware this is rude, but do you really need help with sleep clothing as an adult?

ChazzaGirl · 20/02/2022 23:56

Nowt usually, unless I’m staying over at someone’s house. I’m 51.

Lamont77 · 20/02/2022 23:59

Depends how I feel.

Sometimes fleece PJs, sometimes just top or bottom, sometimes naked, sometimes light PJs.

Never boxers weirdly though or just pants. Can't wear underwear to bed for some reason lol.

NewYearEveryYear · 21/02/2022 00:00

Whatever it is, has to be cotton, I'm like a static monster, turning over causes sparks if I wear manmade fabric in bed.

Usually from M&S or John Lewis. Usually long sleeve and long legged. Mainly in shades of blue or grey. Often mismatched, but as they're all so similar it kinda works anyway.

Not entirely sexy. But comfy, and thoroughly respectable if I need to answer the door early in the morning.

NewYearEveryYear · 21/02/2022 00:00

Oh and I'm 42.

I'd love to wear fleece like some of the PP, but it be a horrible, sparky, prickly, disaster.

Woahthehorsey · 21/02/2022 00:01

Over sized t shirt. When I was breastfeeding in the night it was buttoned PJ top and sleep bra.

Pyewhacket · 21/02/2022 00:02

Mans PJ top in the winter , nothing in the summer.

PrinnyPree · 21/02/2022 00:02

Used to be just knickers (or naked), since breastfeeding a comfy cotton night bra too as I just leaked everywhere without something to hold breastpads in place (and I've got used to them now after 21 months of breastfeeding so they've stuck as part of my bed attire). I'm 39. I've tried to wear PJs but I hate wearing clothes in bed even if its freezing. I wear cotton shorts and a vest top if I'm staying at someone elses house though.

NeverChange · 21/02/2022 00:02

Nothing and it's been that way for as long as I can remember. Just get too hot.

If staying in a hotel I will wear a light nightie or slip.

Only time I were pyjamas is in hospital or if staying in someone's house but I find it so hard to sleep with them on.

Hydrate · 21/02/2022 00:10

Soft cotton nightgowns/shirts, sleeveless preferred.

Anniegetyourgun76 · 21/02/2022 00:12

Just pants, nothing else needed 😍😍

musicviking1 · 21/02/2022 00:21

Vest tops and knickers. Sometimes PJs but I feel restricted.

EBearhug · 21/02/2022 00:24

Usually nothing, but I do have silk or cotton pyjamas if I go away.
49. Been the same for decades. I took silk PJ'S with me when I went travelling in my 20s. They dry quickly, which is a benefit.

HoldenCaulfieldismyhomeboy · 21/02/2022 00:35

I sleep naked. If its particularly cold I wear an oversized tshirt. I'm naturally a warm person and constantly feel uncomfortable in clothes. Mid 30s.

Aria999 · 21/02/2022 00:41

Nada

evilharpy · 21/02/2022 00:44

Always pyjamas. Warmer ones in winter, cooler ones in summer (but even then usually full length rather than shorts). Socks if it's particularly cold. I'm incredibly cold blooded and if I tried to sleep naked I'd spend the whole night awake and shivering, even with a heavy duvet. I'm early 40s so maybe this will change when menopause hits.

littlesnowdropfairy · 21/02/2022 00:56

Sometimes a vest top, usually nothing. I'm 38.
Dh wears boxers but only since we had our son who is 6 and wears pyjamas!

Hugasauras · 21/02/2022 01:02

Jammies! I love PJs. I have two whole drawers of them ❤️

FloatingAlien · 21/02/2022 01:05

Pjs around the house but at bedtime I take the bottoms off and just wear pants with a pj top, occasionally a huge t shirt instead

ToniLaRoni · 21/02/2022 07:11

I sleep best when naked.

But if it's too cold then my first choice is a long sleeve soft nightie. (Kind if hard to find but thankfully have a couple and my DM keeps an eye out for me too)

But I have a selection of most sleepwear and can sleep in most things - just never a bra. And only knickers if I'm on my period.

UnsureAndUnsteady · 21/02/2022 08:21

@ISpyCobraKai not rude at all but I’m not sure you understood what/why I was asking. I don’t need people to tell me what to sleep in, as I said in my first message I have what I like and I won’t change. But I questioned if I had a case of “Peter Pan” syndrome when it came to PJ’s and what other fashionable ladies were wearing these days. It was more a bit of fun because I’m interested and I never get to see what other people my age wear in bed (except DH who is 1) male and 2) clear related to a radiator the way he gives off heat so sleeps naked)

I have to say I’m surprised so many sleep naked. I can guarantee I will have nightmares if I sleep naked but have always liked the idea
