to be so sick to death of being embarrassed by Boris Johnson

Just watching him speak at the Munich conference now. Having spent the week following the Russia/Ukraine situation, and having heard numerous world leaders speak, including Joe Biden last night, I can't help but wince at the contrast. Johnson's speech is typical; peppered with clever-clever public schoolboy humour, facile metaphors and smirking, bombastic jingoistic rhetoric. He looks and sounds like an utter mess. This is who we are now, as far as the rest of the world is concerned. My toes are fucking curling Sad Angry

Hunt wouldn't have won over the neanderthal red wall Brexit supporters.
Red wall voters, predominantly in the Midlands and the North and you're calling them neanderthal?

You don't get it do you. This snooty sneery attitude is the problem, it's Brexit all over again. Funny that.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 19/02/2022 19:01

Of course Johnson is an embarrassment to us. But the funny thing is, people in other countries are cringing at their leaders and wishing they were more like the others and yes those others do include Johnson. It's the flip side of exactly the same Little Englander exceptionalist mentality ultra-jingoists have that makes people think every other country is laughing at us rather than focusing on their own problems.

Oh I don’t know - Boris is a particularly bad joke

The country's hero worshipping of the NHS leviathan would mean Hunt is a no-go, the unions hate him so there is no way any of the red seats would go blue for JH.

All of the Tory MPs who haven't submitted their letter of no confidence - and they are the only ones who can change this- are also now partly to blame. Writing to - or emailing - our MPs is all anyone can do. Hopefully they are just a few letters away now.

Mischance · 19/02/2022 22:42

I have contacted my MP. He is as pissed of with BJ as I am - and he is a Tory.

longwayoff · 19/02/2022 22:54

Me too, Mischance, I wrote mine a testy letter stating my feelings about Johnson very clearly and was surprised to receive a lengthy reply agreeing with me rather than the 'thank you, contents noted' I expected. Fingers crossed awaiting the revolution.

@TheHateIsNotGood

Until more perfect/uncringeworthy people like me not me stand for political office then we get what we're given.

Are we such a total bunch of back seat drivers and sideline experts that all we can muster is a bunch of critique from our sofas without offering ourselves to the scrutiny and criticism involved by just getting 'involved'?

I wouldn't do it myself, please step forward anyone here would....
