to be so sick to death of being embarrassed by Boris Johnson

Just watching him speak at the Munich conference now. Having spent the week following the Russia/Ukraine situation, and having heard numerous world leaders speak, including Joe Biden last night, I can't help but wince at the contrast. Johnson's speech is typical; peppered with clever-clever public schoolboy humour, facile metaphors and smirking, bombastic jingoistic rhetoric. He looks and sounds like an utter mess. This is who we are now, as far as the rest of the world is concerned. My toes are fucking curling Sad Angry

@TerraNovaTwo

YANBU. What's even more embarrassing is the large proportion of the British electorate who voted for him and voted for Brexit.
I bet the Venn diagram for those two groups would have a bloody big overlap.

I know. Biden is a very poor speaker I've no idea why they wheel him out. He looks like you could knock him down with a feather.

BJ in comparison looked like a strong leader. He's getting on with important stuff isn't he. At least the UK media have finally caught up.

Here we go again...
1dayatatime · 19/02/2022 14:36

It has certainly come as an outrageous shock to the 14 million people that in December 2019 voted for a known selfish serial liar buffoon to discover that he has in fact turned out to be a selfish serial liar buffoon.

You can't blame Boris for being what he openly is. It's a bit like buying a tiger as a family pet and then complaining about the tiger when it eats the children.

Maybe the 14 million who voted for Boris should in future keep their voting activities limited to Strictly.

whitewashing · 19/02/2022 14:38

@AdamRyan

Well English specifically. I think the other UK nations can be comforted that at least they didn't choose this bunch of clowns the English have foisted on them
I have the SNP foisted on me…😩. I didn’t vote or want them either!
Acheyknees · 19/02/2022 14:38

To be honest, I don't think we have any admirable world leaders now Angela has gone. Biden is far too old, the US keep getting old, rich white men elected (with the exception of Obama). A 79 year old is no where near capable of the demands of the job. Macron is on his way out and the new German Chancellor is instantly forgettable.

baroqueandblue · 19/02/2022 14:41

it was america and uk that decided that russia would invade

Nice try. But you can't blame the US/UK diplomacy (sic) and media for what, in the end, amounts to a Russian directive to fire the first shot. Johnson, Truss, Biden et al are useless, you won't hear any argument from me on that sorry score, but they're not Putin. Opening fire is down to him and him alone Hmm

SueSaid · 19/02/2022 14:44

'Maybe the 14 million who voted for Boris should in future keep their voting activities limited to Strictly.'

Such an awful sneery comnent.

Just be grateful for those who did vote for BJ. You did know what the alternative was didn't you?!

Rathgar · 19/02/2022 14:45

Yes im still waiting on just one example of something good since leaving europe, the great british brexit a complete disaster, and its definantly going to get worse, but not for all those politicions that were only interested in feathering there own nest and will ride off to the suset with there huge saleries and pensions, while we are left with the awful consequences

HeadPain · 19/02/2022 14:45

This one? m.youtube.com/watch?v=VxAHLRtwXLY
If you look through my post history you can see I am not a fan of him at all, to put it mildly... but I don't see what was wrong with it tbh. I think he was better than Biden. Kamala Harris was great though. m.youtube.com/watch?v=RgaW8wcuxDM They should have her as President .

Siepie · 19/02/2022 14:52

YANBU. I was on a call last week with some former colleagues from a few different EU countries.

Almost the first thing said was "oh Siepie! Your prime minister's parties, it's just so funny!" and the others joined in laughing at Boris and the UK (Brexit, energy prices, covid parties, etc). I actually agreed with most of what they said, but it was embarrassing to see how we're perceived on the world stage.

Rathgar · 19/02/2022 14:52

trade deals on the other side of the world ha!!ha!!!,when europe is our nebour,no seat at european table which means we dont know whats going on and no control, its a complete and utter shambles boris and his stupid frends

1dayatatime · 19/02/2022 14:53

@JaniieJones

"Just be grateful for those who did vote for BJ. You did know what the alternative was didn't you?!"

++++

There were three potential outcomes:

  1. A Conservative victory (as happened)
  2. A Labour victory under Corbyn or
  3. a hung Parliament with no one party able to form a majority

The fact that you could only see the first two outcomes only reinforces my point about Strictly.

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/02/2022 14:58

Countries no longer trust the UK to negotiate and reach trade agreements in good faith after the shambles that is Brexit.Sad

GirlOfTudor · 19/02/2022 15:02

Totally agree. I'd love to know what the people who were praising him relentlessly over his Covid handling would say about him now 😂😂

ilovesooty · 19/02/2022 15:11

Some of them are so blinkered that they'll carry on defending him - evidenced on this thread.
Rathgar · 19/02/2022 15:29

the only people that are praising boris over covid are his tory pals.they cannot keep hiding behind covid as the shelves are empty, and household prices are at all time high, along with fuel along with more regulations in july, get brexit done ha!!ha!!,brexit wont be done for years, until next generation gets us back in european union, farmers, fishermen thought they were all getting a good deal for themselves, they get what they voted for no sympothy there

Thanks for giving me a good laugh!

'important stuff'. You aren't addressing a class in a primary school.

camperqueen54 · 19/02/2022 16:03

He's a joke. Many of the Tory inner circle are. I'm embarrassed to live in the UK to be honest.

Childrenofthestones · 19/02/2022 16:06

"It has certainly come as an outrageous shock to the 14 million people that in December 2019 voted for a known selfish serial liar buffoon to discover that he has in fact turned out to be a selfish serial liar buffoon."

BoJo's life is an open book. His affairs, his lying, his bufoonery. He has been a running joke for years.
Do you not think that it says more about what most people thought of the alternative that they went with BJ.

SirChenjins · 19/02/2022 16:13

Do you not think that it says more about what most people thought of the alternative that they went with BJ

You have to remember that “most people “ didn’t think that of the alternative. The voting system gave us this clown, not the votes cast.

SueSaid · 19/02/2022 16:16

'I'm embarrassed to live in the UK to be honest'

Yes, places like Canada and NZ are doing sooo much better.

itsgettingweird · 19/02/2022 16:18

Just be grateful for those who did vote for BJ. You did know what the alternative was didn't you?!

I often think that's why he did get voted in.

Not because he's a great representative of England/Britain.

But because he wasn't the worst one.

Doesn't really say much though does it?!

FatFredsFriedEgg · 19/02/2022 16:21

Johnson has announced that we're going to be flying RAF surveillance planes over Belarus 'very shortly'.

Whether that's a deliberate or (as I suspect) accidental provocation it makes Johnson definitely guilty of ramping up tension in the area.

VladmirsPoutine · 19/02/2022 16:24

My European family always speak of how embarrassing he is to the UK as in on the world stage. A lot of the UK's gravitas has all bad disappeared over recent years with brexit, covid responses etc. We are absolutely seen as a joke nowadays.

baroqueandblue · 19/02/2022 16:29

@FatFredsFriedEgg still isn't the first shot though.

Of course Johnson is a dangerous, self-serving moron.
