He should have resigned. They should have made him. Instead they’ve kicked it all into the long grass of a shitty unpublishable enquiry, and then kicked that into the long grass of a corrupt police enquiry and are attempting to cover it all with bluster and shite on the world stage, posturing about like bad actors. And playing upto to the crowd by removing restrictions to distract. It’s so so fucking depressing. Is anyone actually falling for it? It feels like nothing matters anymore.

And then the billions wasted on Cronyism, corruption, post office and PPE. Letting our energy bills go up when in other countries the energy companies have paid. Councils cut to the bone everywhere. Libraries closed. Town centres desolate. Folk not being able to buy houses, afford to live. But bankers bonus’s at a high again. I just feel desperately sad.

Same here. His time will come though.

Cornettoninja · 17/02/2022 09:29

It’s an absolute shitshow isn’t it?

planningtomakeaplan · 17/02/2022 09:30

People need to stop voting Tory!

I don't know what it'll take before people realise they're parasites in suits.

I'm hoping they lose badly in the May local elections but not holding my breath.

A lot of people aren't very well informed and still think Labour were responsible for the global economic crash, that the economy is better with the Tories, that Brexit was a good idea, that Boris Johnson is a decent guy, deep down. None of those is remotely true. But people believe them.

Nobody could have predicted this

MorrisZapp · 17/02/2022 09:32

Most of the press are calling this the fag end of his leadership. Then he'll be replaced by someone worse so enjoy this while you can.

Hmm
StillWeRise · 17/02/2022 09:35

What we need to do is remind people of all this every time there is an election. I know I am almost forgetting what the sever lockdowns were like and how much we sacrificed (personally I feel I got off lightly)- we need to keep that memory alive and highlight the massive injustice of so many people compared to those privileged wankers

ClaudineClare · 17/02/2022 09:36

What, that a proven amoral, bigoted liar would not change if he became PM?
deeedeee · 17/02/2022 09:37

It’s fucking hideous. I don’t know anyone can defend it. I don’t know how anyone can shrug it off.

OP posts:
deeedeee · 17/02/2022 09:40

And that the Conservative party are attempting to shrug it off is so disgusting. I’m really surprised at how angry and sad it makes me feel.

Are they just banking on all the folk who voted for brexit being the same folk who broke the rules themselves and therefore won’t care and will still vote Tory. And the rest of there voters will hold their noses through financial self interest ?

OP posts:
Whatwouldscullydo · 17/02/2022 09:40

Tbh I'm not bothered abiut the parties. Of course they did. Loads of people did. Like all the other humans in the country some stuck to the rules, some madebup their own rules stuck to them and had a go at anyone who didn't follow their new improved rules involving sticking cheese in coffee ir Eating the bird seed next door rather than venture out even once fir some milk and bread. Some mostly did what they were supoosed to but disnt swear about the odd breech. Amd some just didn't give a shit.

I dont expect that lot to be any different in their behaviours.

What pisses me off is the lying about it now. Like own it mate.

BoodleBug51 · 17/02/2022 09:40

People voted Tory because they were the lesser of 2 evils.

The last 2 Labour leaders were simply too terrifying a prospect to take the helm and I don't understand why on earth the party as a whole aren't doing something about it.

Cornettoninja · 17/02/2022 09:42

A lot of people aren't very well informed

I’m not sure I agree with that. I think it’s more a case of people don’t want to be informed outside of their current stance.

To borrow a phrase from James O’Brien, it’s the footballification of politics. People pick a team and stand by them, changing their opinions in line with the party rather than the other way around. To diverge away from the party line is seen as admitting a personal failure instead of the party failing the person.

Imho we need to foster much more fluidity with the general publics party loyalty. There are still so many people who vote how their parents did and always will because that’s their ‘team’. You see it all the time with sneery ‘oh I bet you’re an xxx voter’ and other variations on that theme. Politicians change but voters tend to stick to their colour no matter who is in post. It’s bonkers really.

Narutocrazyfox · 17/02/2022 09:47

What we need is a strong opposition party.

People will continue to vote Conservative while Labour is an absolute joke of a party. I have written (many times over the years) to our local Labour team and explained the issues local people face and what we want from our MPs and the responses have all been patronising, defensive, mud slinging nonsense. I give up. At the moment I'd vote Conservative to keep Labour out, as would most of my family and friends as they are upsettingly the lesser of two evils, even with the parties and corruption!

deeedeee · 17/02/2022 09:48

How the hell can you shrug it off?

It brings us all down if those that make our rules don’t have to follow them!

Polyanthus2 · 17/02/2022 09:49

Has the police report come out??

deeedeee · 17/02/2022 09:50

Why the fuck are labour the lesser of two evils? I do not understand atall. How can you still say you’d vote for these corrupt money wasting lying cronies?

OP posts:
OhWhyNot · 17/02/2022 09:54

When it comes to voting people believe what they want to believe

They want to believe X party or X solution we all do it to some extent regardless of how much information is there

And voters are very very forgiving (I include myself)

Labour need to be looking to the next election as the Tories certainly are

I agree
AllisoninWunderland · 17/02/2022 09:57

I agree op.
And no apology. No admission of error. Just bluster and cover up. They must think we’re all stupid.
How refreshing it would be if someone in politics actually admitted wrong doing and apologised. Imagine that!

Cornettoninja · 17/02/2022 09:58

I actually can’t comprehend how the tories are still seen as the lesser of two evils given the damage they have done in the last few months alone.

They’ve proved themselves as liars and utterly without morals. That’s not even opinion, it’s a fact.

Labour/liberals/green etc aren’t perfect and have weaknesses but the tories are only as strong as their latest lie/spin. They’ve corrupted politics to extremes I wouldn’t have predicted possible ten years ago and the general publics standards have fallen dramatically.

derxa · 17/02/2022 09:59

To borrow a phrase from James O’Brien, it’s the footballification of politics Says the man who is obsessive in his hatred of Brexit. He never changes his mind about anything.

WeatherwaxOn · 17/02/2022 10:00

It's not even just that. It's riding roughshod over medical advice. It's not considering public safety. Its ignoring the environmental crisis. Its not helping people who can't afford heating. It's allowing prices to increase when people are using food banks. It's stopping free lateral flows. Its underfunding health health education. Its not protecting women's rights. Its not caring about children the elderly, the vulnerable.
The whole lot of them make me furious. Enough money to give banks a tax cut and allow energy companies to take it it. Enough money to write off millions wasted. Not enough money for gran to heat her flat.

They shrug it all off because they think they’re entitled to. Eton breeds them to believe they are entitled to whatever they can get, no matter how many people they have to screw over to get it. They ( Tory politicians) have nothing but contempt for ordinary working people in this country. They see governing as one long power trip and networking party, favours here and there to line up further fortunes for themselves in the future. After all when you’re already a multimillionaire you need more don’t you.
