Not exactly an aibu but I want some units put in my bathroom, 0 clue as to how much these things cost.

I’ll add some Pics pre crap so you can see what I’m working with. Atm I’ve got an under the sink and wall cabinet from ikea and a tall boy that’s not bolted to the wall. I’ve got 2 kids so I doesn’t seem safe, so was thinking about getting some uni to put in for storage. I’m thinking built in toilet thingy (with easy access) running along to the bath with some cupboard space and then a wall Unit. Maybe a tall boy sort of thing on the back wall. Not sure on the last part.

Anyone care to show some Pics for inspo?

Thank you :)

Nothing to add but here for other people's info! Currently trying to price up / decide on a new bathroom and I'm so confused by the whole thing.

Getoff · 16/02/2022 17:01

I'm not sure where storage would go, there's not much spare space in that picture.

I have two bathooms that are 2m square and have units along one wall in each. I don't want to post pictures but I would recommend my cabinets. I have handleless units from Paramount Bathrooms. (Don't think mine are the same as the range they currently have on their web site.) They offer some of their units in multiple sizes, and made a WC unit in a custom size for me at no extra cost, If I remember correctly.

Getoff · 16/02/2022 17:03

They have lots of customer photos on their web site, so you might get some ideas there.

Nc4post99 · 16/02/2022 17:30

@Getoff it’s slightly more spacious in real life, but realistically could only really be under the sink storage and maybe a small thin cupboard either side of the loo? And then some above?

Something sort of like this maybe but using the space either side of the loo, if that’s event possible. Think it means new sink and new toilet though. Then I’m not sure how it works with the splash back part, do we get rid, would it look weird? In my head you’d need all the negative space tiled but no clue where we can get these tiles from. It’s a minefield

I don't have exact figures but roughly:
£1.1k for tiles & grout
£1.5k for tiler
£2.2k for suite, furniture, radiator etc
A few hundred (can't remember!) for an inline extractor fan + electrician to install this and spotlights
FIL very very kindly fitted it for us, so we saved on installation costs.

Also @Getoff how much did it cost to get them fitted?

If your aim is to achieve storage - you won’t get much just by boxing in the lower level - would need above counter wall units maybe? One with a mirror door above sink?

Getoff · 16/02/2022 17:50

I had my whole bathroom re-built, so the cabinets were an insignificant part of the cost.

MojoJojo71 · 16/02/2022 18:13

Here’s mine. I had it fine last year and I love it. Cost just over £6k

We don’t need a tremendous amount just some place for some creams and our cleaning supplies but I think you’re right, we’d need something on the wall too! Sort of like the pic i posted up thread

Not more grey! That colour has been done to absolute death!!

Spot lights x4 installed £300
Plastic ceiling fitted £650
Towel radiator £193
Vanity unit £240
Tiles including bath panel tiles £1800
New shower head £25
Plumber £800
Tiler £1050
Taps £150 (friend had 45% discount I used, should have been around £260 full price).

I didn’t replace the toilet, bath or shower and I got a new shower screen from a friend for free.

This was done at the end of January this year.

Nc4post99 · 16/02/2022 19:42

@BlondeWidow it’s the tiles on the floor and part of the wall tiles on the bath side and I’m not looking to re do the whole bathroom as it’s relatively new (we have a new build bought in 2019) so makes sense to go with grey to match what’s we already gots :)

@MojoJojo71 and @User0908 LOVELY bathrooms!

Also, kittie. Grin

Hasselhoffsheadband · 16/02/2022 19:47

There have been a couple of 'show me your bathrooms' threads in the last couple of days, and it's interesting (and reassuring) to see that 'normal people' don't have super trendy Instagram bathrooms but just lovely normal bathrooms!

Hasselhoffsheadband · 16/02/2022 19:49

I thought everyone but me had brass or black (eeeek!) fittings, fixed shower heads, wall mounted taps etc!

@MojoJojo71 I'm not a huge grey person but the wall tiles are rather nice. What colour towels and accessories did you go for?
User0908 · 16/02/2022 19:50

@Nc4post99 thank you :)

I was in a similar position by the sounds of it, I bought a new build in 2016. While the bath & toilet wouldn’t have been my first choice is seemed silly to change them. The shower is also still working perfectly.

Mine was only half tiled around the bath so the paint started flaking off because of the steam (didn’t help that the extractor didn’t work, I should add the £300 for new spots also included a new extractor fan).

Not sure of your bathroom layout but the plumber said I’d be able to get a vanity unit max 600mm wide in really I should have opted for 400mm or at a push 500mm. As you can see from the pictures there isn’t a lot of space when you’re sat on the toilet. Bit of an oversight on my part too as the old sink was just a normal pedestal type sink so it didn’t occur to me that it might be a bit of a squeeze.

What colour scheme have you got in mind?
