Not exactly an aibu but I want some units put in my bathroom, 0 clue as to how much these things cost.

I’ll add some Pics pre crap so you can see what I’m working with. Atm I’ve got an under the sink and wall cabinet from ikea and a tall boy that’s not bolted to the wall. I’ve got 2 kids so I doesn’t seem safe, so was thinking about getting some uni to put in for storage. I’m thinking built in toilet thingy (with easy access) running along to the bath with some cupboard space and then a wall Unit. Maybe a tall boy sort of thing on the back wall. Not sure on the last part.

Anyone care to show some Pics for inspo?

Thank you :)

@User0908 plastic ceiling? Not heard of this. Would it stop issues with mould etc do you know? (We have a lot on the ceiling of our en-suite and are going to be renovating it this year). We also want to take out the spotlights as we hate them.

User0908 · 16/02/2022 20:08

@PissedOffNeighbour22

It’s basically plastic cladding. They slot together kinda like laminate flooring? And siliconed where the tiles meet the ceiling so in theory should be more or less water tight. (Spot lights are bathroom specific spots too).

I honestly couldn’t say if it would help with a mould issue? I’m not a tradesperson but it is much easier to clean than a painted plaster ceiling is IMO as I just use a flash speed mop type thing.

I have attached a picture isn’t the clearest as there is some glare from the spots. I’ll try remember to take a picture in the day light and re post.

Extra height toilet w/soft close seat £169
1900 x 900mm deep bath £249
1200 x 1000mm Shower tray £299
Shower and taps/plugs, etc (bath and sinks) £185
Double sink, 2 drawer unit inc sink fittings £399
Tall free standing unit w/door × 2 £180
Wall hung 2 drawer unit with bamboo worktop £65
Hidden shelf storage £37
Granite floor tiles £600
Wall tiles £1200
Grout/tile edging ,etc ~ £170
Tall 1600mm Radiator £103
Towel Radiator 1200mm high £55

Comes to around £3700, plus electrician to fit 8 spotlights and fan and plumber to fit bath, shower, sink and toilet.
Electrician and plumber... hard to remember cost as it was done as part of a larger renovation, but I think that portion of their work came to around £2000 to £3000.

Total price would've been in the region of £5700-£6700.
Bathroom is approx. 3.4m by 3.6m, so quite a decent size.

Mirror cabinet with lighting was £179

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 16/02/2022 20:19

@User0908 Thank you! It looks really good - I've put it on my DP's list of things to look into as I think this is the way to go for our en-suite. The easy clean nature of it definitely appeals.

BonnyandPoppy · 16/02/2022 20:22

Here’s our en suite. Got the stuff from Victoria plum. Cost about £4500 in total.

I have a unit on the side of the tall ones facing into the bath where I keep shampoo etc in handy reach. There were meant to be shelves built into the tiled wall, but they got forgotten until the tiling was almost done and by then it was too late.

I was really gutted about that and do wish we'd had it redone as it would've been a useful space to have.

My solution was to add the hidden shelf, which I've bolted to the side of the tall cupboard for stability......you can't see it in the photos, but it helps mitigate the loss of the inbuilt shelving.

This is before it was accessorised, was about £9.5k but we're in the home counties and that includes replastering, underfloor heating and Burlington suite plus I had to go for the brushed brass fittings (DH has no idea how much they were from the budget...)

That's beautiful

No problem, I would definitely recommend getting one.

I think I was ripped off though, I just asked the plumber that I had booked to do it without getting other quotes as his quote for the bathroom was reasonable. (I had the bathroom done in Jan but the ceiling was done in Dec). My friends who have similar paid much less (£250 - 450ish for a similar size room).

Attached another photo with less glare.

Ok I had mine done last year. It was a FORTUNE I can’t lie. But I love it and I hope to never have to do it again… (these were taken just before painting as completed)

You can't really tell from the photos but the mosiac tiles and grout are glittery. We used tiles left over from other projects in other parts of the house, hence the 4 different colours.
The floor tiles also have different coloured sparkles in them depending on the way the light catches them.
We always get a 'wow' reaction from people when they 1st see it.

The one thing I really regret is the waterfall tap on the bath. Mainly because we again forgot to put a shower attachment in the bath, mostly just for ease of cleaning the bath after use. Just didn't think of it at the time of everything being fitted.

The waterfall tap means we can't even add a shower attachment as an afterthought as it won't fit over it.

@Nc4post99 it’s the orchard derwent stone grey range from Victoria plum. We put two wall hanging cupboards next to each other but also added some extra internal shelves as they were a bit far apart, been in about two years now but still holding up well. The sink is the 1 metre wide one and the drawers are really useful. There are narrower sinks though in the range.

MojoJojo71 · 16/02/2022 21:37

It’s actually not as dark in real life, the tiles are paler with a slight hint of blue and the floor tiles have blue in them.

These are the wall tiles www.toppstiles.co.uk/attingham/attingham-mist-tile

@ouch321 I’ve gone for ‘peacock’ a dark teal colour for the towels and bath mat www.habitat.co.uk/product/9347812

Nc4post99 · 16/02/2022 22:39

@User0908 I’m thinking grey and white, not imaginative I know but I’m trying to work with what we’ve got lol. Maybe a slate grey as the tiles are a light grey?

These are our tiles, we’ve got them in grey and white
