We’re moving house and I’m 8 months pregnant so he’s been doing the majority of the work; but he’s gone and hoovered something up he shouldn’t have as when he turned the hoover on this morning a really strong chemical smell came out that start burning my nose and throat. I did ask him what he’s hoovered and he said nothing unusual! But now my chest hurts (could be me overthinking it though) and he’s opened the windows in the house.. and he was sheepishly washing the filter in hot soapy water 5 minutes after I asked him what the smells was and that it was burning my nose/throat.. he still denies hoovering anything that could have created the smell, but he was scrubbing the bathroom yesterday with all sorts of cleaners despite me telling him not to mix them and to use them sparingly as the whole house spelt of bleach at one point I thought it was going to spontaneously combust at one point Grin
I’m very grateful for him doing all the heavy/dirty work however.

AIBU to not want him to make headlines for accidentally killing off the whole family with a mixture of chemicals?Grin

Ps. I am never moving house again.

Method of suicide,probably.
They wouldn’t ban mentions of Method cleaners. That would be like banning Boden or Zoflora on here Grin

I know 🤣 I thought it was done new anti advert thingy!

Surely telling people that vinegar and baking powder can be dangerous if mixed with some household cleaners is a good thing? I did this by accident and didn’t realise it could be fatal.

@Mollysocks I had no idea so thank you

OP a similar thing happened to me a week before my DC was born! In my nesting phase, I was cleaning the bathrooms and poured bleach down the toilet. It ran out so I grabbed another bottle (assuming this was also bleach) and used that too. Turned out the other bottle was toilet cleaner Blush and you should never mix bleach with toilet cleaner. I didn’t realise straight away and carried on cleaning until the smell and the fumes hit me. To cut a long story short I ended up calling 111 who had to get someone from the poison centre to ring me back. I was so embarrassed. They said I would have created a chlorine gas but seeing as I got out of the room quickly and into fresh air, they wouldn’t be too concerned. I learnt my lesson!!

Ok, methods of suicide makes sense.

I was a bit gob-smacked we can't discuss methods of cleaning the toilet!

I think accidental death while cleaning the toilet is a pretty sad way to go but at least they'd have plenty to talk about at the funeral.
