Polls plummeting. She is completely nightmarish tho 53 deaths is amazing. Nz is now so woke no one with any brain or indepent thought will go there to holiday / work. She is on a power trip to end all. Poor kiwis

@Radyward

I typed this in bed last night without my specs hence the typos. After 2 yrs in a pandemic keeping restrictions going longer than is necessary feels powertrippy. Thats why Trudeau and Ardern are under fire. It fits their narrative to cast all protesters as loony anti vaxxers when a significant number are anti mandate. Mandates which are being unceremoniously dumped in other countries. Why continue it -why pursue it when over 90% vaxxed. It just feels power and control under the umbrella of omicron Keep that fear going. Keep it ramped up .

We all lost freedoms which are being restored BUT pursuing vaccination of kids and excluding kids who arent from sporting events is another kind of sick .like what planet is she on
.oh follow the science well kids fare very well without vaccination with covid. Parents must be at their wits end in NZ Keeping up the fear is a joke and she is the ultimate purveyor of that.
Be kind is her mantra when she is the exact opposite of that .
As for my woke thing
She is the ultimate political correctness . Talks alot. Says nothing. Anyones other opinion not tolerated and cast as crazies when some are actually in dire straits with genuine concerns..
The ultimate Dodger of questions- Smiling mother of the nation turning the screw. Like when is normal going to be in NZ ??when will it be right. She maintains there will be no back to life before covid. Omg terrible .
Media comtrol at its best. If you arent with us you are against.

We are all equal but some more equal than others ie the vaccinated. I find her horrifically creepy .53 deaths at what cost nuts . She is undemocratic and power crazed . So many in NZ have enjoyed their bubble of normality for 2 yrs good for them. Thats fab but comparing 5 million to 60 million is daft. Comparing an island nation miles from anywhere with the uk is daft . Her covid fatalities is freakin amazing but that lovely bubble has to end .she must be terrified to fully open and lose all powers thats the corner she has backed herself into. Interesting times ahead for the NZ poster girl

Seriously. You sound unhinged. Why are you so so bothered, foaming at the mouth and inventing scenarios about a PM and a country thousands of miles away from you? Why? What about the actual human rights abuses in the Middle East or India? They seem much more worthy of your earnest angst or are you mainly looking for a woman to blame something on? Bloody jumped up wimmin with their lofty ideas that they can govern better than any man has over the past two years?

And as for the 'poor Kiwi parents' you are lamenting about, believe me every single one I know is beyond grateful for the freedoms and relative safety they have had over the past two years. I know of two families here who happened to be here on holiday from the UK when the first lockdown happened (each has one kiwi/one Uk parent and children born and raised in London) and both families are still here looking on in horror at the UK and arranging to sell their UK homes so they can resettle here. Each of them have thanked their lucky stars they were in Nz when it all happened.

@ SmorgasBorb
I seriously wouldn’t bother responding to the OP as they are either trolling or entered loony la la land. In either case, responding to their “discussions” isn’t going to shift their mindset. They will continue to believe what they want to believe regardless of any evidence to the contrary.

OP doesn't live in NZ and doesn’t seem to be personally affected by NZ’s current Covid policy so we don’t owe them any kind of explanation.

DryOldCaper · 16/02/2022 02:56

It is kind of fun to keep the OP engaged, because if s/he/it is the same person as all the other ones, they’ll just work themselves up in an apoplectic state of hysteria. Which is always fun to watch.

Let me guess - they came here on holiday once, and are now an authority on all things NZ.

Grin that is a very good point. It is very entertaining.

I live in Australia some media outlets (I’m looking at you, Guardian Australia) have a similar narrative about how TERRIBLY the government have done by opening things up, how people are DYING and it was all TOO SOON.

The online comments are full of people for whom any death is unacceptable, who are triple vaxxed but still isolating because they will aim for “zero covid, even if the government is abandoning them”.

However, what I read on there is very different to what I see, which is people enjoying or getting on with normal lives and grateful to have international travel back again.

Where I live hospital outpatients are functioning, I can see a GP fade to face, ICUs have space and elective surgery will recommence be soon. Cases are high but the peak is thought or have passed. Within the last month my children have seen the orthodontist, dentist and a psychologist, had several swim meets, played other club sports and gone back to school.

Australians had time to get vaccinated before state and National borders opened - there have been about 50-80 deaths/day over the whole country since then, mainly older and/or not vaccinated people.

Some people think that is way too many and the government is s disgrace, most people would not tolerate another lock down.

SquirrelG · 16/02/2022 05:08

NZ is culturally like the UK in many, many ways

Not as many as you might think. We are actually very different.

Sorry about multiple typos, typing without glasses.

BoredZelda · 16/02/2022 10:05

I often wonder what people who hold this view think when they are forced to put their pronouns on their emails, called transphobic for misgendering someone or called a white supremicist for existing

Those people are imaginary so you can imagine they think whatever suits you.

BoredZelda · 16/02/2022 10:10

I tend to keep away from these threads but I am very concerned about policies worldwide and glad to be in England.

With the shitshow that is our government, you’re glad to be here? That’s quite the statement.

Yeahthat · 16/02/2022 10:15

@BoredZelda

Oh I know. Life is veritably falling apart because someone ate some cake in the garden of No.10 six months ago.

This is meltdown of a scale perhaps never seen in human history.

BoredZelda · 16/02/2022 10:16

And the problem is, you think that's the only problem. Try paying attention.

The problem is, you think problems such as inflation and cost of living squeeze are unique to the UK. Try paying attention (and getting some perspective).

Incidentally, since we're in a thread about NZ, have a look at the insanity of their housing market - I believe circa 1.5 million average house price in Aukland.

Quite right. Similarities include a predilection for low quality meat pies, shit soap operas and a slightly common language. After that, very different. Look at how they serve their BBQ'd sausages for a start and what dip everyone expects at a gathering... I'm still boggled nearly 10 years later.

Nope. Try again.

How do you serve BBQ'd sausages in the UK? Just curious .......

Cookerhood · 16/02/2022 19:51

And I want to know what dip? I went to many gatherings in NZ but wasn't aware of any strange dips

Tinned reduced cream and dried onion soup. 'Kiwi Dip'

The sausage slapped in a slice of white sliced in true sausage sizzle style was an eye opener for me. That would definitely raise eyebrows in the UK where it would be served in a hotdog type bap. The white sliced makes complete sense to me now. Less ' bready' and you can shovel in far more of them.
TacCat49 · 16/02/2022 20:04

Actually I went to a NZ National event and there was a BBQ later. Jacinda, her fiance and other Labour Party members cooked it up ie sausages, bacon etc etc. A good feast was had by all.

Cookerhood · 16/02/2022 20:08

Ah, my mum used to make dip in the 1970s with onion soup mix & sour cream. Similar I suppose.

CheekyHobson · 16/02/2022 20:31

Ahem, there is also a dash of lemon juice in the Kiwi Onion Dip. A minor but essential detail.

FenceFuckery · 16/02/2022 23:59

And you have to make it a couple of hours in advance and chill it too. Unless you are me, and always have a can of reduced cream just sitting in the fridge ready to go for immediate gratification!

SmorgasBorb · 17/02/2022 00:35

Kiwi dip is an abomination. Truly the grossest thing I've ever eaten.
I'm going to be barred from citizenship aren't I?

Mypathtriedtokillme · 17/02/2022 01:13

Why mention the Dip?? Now I have a craving for dodgy dip and chips.
