Nowt, we don't bother. Married 22 yrs. I think we may have bought cards in the early days but not for years.

mrsbyers · 14/02/2022 18:44

Nowt , exactly what I wanted and got him - didn’t even bother with an M&S meal deal tonight. He got a card each from his guide dog and donkey (sponsored) and I got one from the puppies I sponsor

peaceanddove · 14/02/2022 18:47

We used to do the whole flowers, cards, candle-lit dinner etc. But to be honest it's really not something we do anymore - and we go out for dinner all the time anyway.

DH has just presented me with a cup of tea and a large bar of Dairy Milk though, and informed me that I can be his valentine, so I am perfectly content.

dementedma · 14/02/2022 18:47

Bought myself a bunch of daffodils. Married 35 years.

Moltenpink · 14/02/2022 18:49

My boss bought me a cupcake. My husband & I don’t do gifts but I forgot my lunch today and he drove it in for me Smile

Ragwort · 14/02/2022 18:49

We exchanged cards & enjoyed an M & S meal deal (married 34 years Grin).

Those who say 'it's a commercial rip off' - do you say the same for Mother's Day and other 'celebration days'?

endofthecorridoor · 14/02/2022 18:50

We agree not to waste the money. Do stuff randomly or on our anniversary. I bought some awsome new glasses though with amethyst transitional lenses for myself

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 14/02/2022 18:50

I got a Fitbit charge and a ukelele, well chuffed. I got my fiance a Jim'll Paint it book.

Minniem2020 · 14/02/2022 18:51

Nothing. By mutual agreement

IsItTooHotInHere · 14/02/2022 18:52

Acard. Married 41 years, together 44.

IsItTooHotInHere · 14/02/2022 18:52

a card

MakkaPakkas · 14/02/2022 18:53

Galentines day with my DD. We had KFC like the true lady bosses we are 😁 hope you enjoyed your stuff op

Blue4YOU · 14/02/2022 18:55

A day spent alone with my seriously disabled DD, after he left all the breakfast dishes for me, didn’t walk the dog, had a five hour break between clients and rang me to tell me he was going for coffee in town but wasn’t planning on going to the shop so I had to do an online order for essentials.
Oh and it’s twelve years since he proposed.
Guess what I wish I’d said?

Groovee · 14/02/2022 18:55

The gift of sight... I had my cataract removed. That's a good ❤️ gift.

listsandbudgets · 14/02/2022 18:56

Nothing.

E.on sent me an electric bill though does that count?

WonderfulYou · 14/02/2022 18:56

Do people give balloons now?
I’ve never heard of that.

emmylousings · 14/02/2022 18:56

2 boxes of jasmine green tea from lidl (my favourite and he knew I'd run out), a mini dark chocolate bounty (another fave) and a home made CD. Pretty chuffed with that.

elp30 · 14/02/2022 18:57

Nothing because our wedding anniversary is soon.

However, I just saw an ad for heart-shaped, cherry-flavored gummy candy on sale. I may pick up a bag and share with the husband.

Enjoy all your goodies, OP

Stellaris22 · 14/02/2022 18:58

Was the lobster biscuit the 'be my lobster' biscuit from Co Op? Those looked awful, saw a giant cookie at Morrisons that said 'marry me', imagine if that was your proposal, an uninspired mass produced cookie.

I work in a supermarket and the amount of stuff that's just reformatted for whatever the current holiday is, is tragic. Imagine buying into that?

ohhooh · 14/02/2022 18:58

I got a giant bunch of flowers (he got the florist we used for our wedding to do me a huge bunch of the same flowers as my bouquet, I cried!) and some sentimental jewellery. My DH is the best man I've ever met!

givemeallthecheese · 14/02/2022 18:58

Nothing

I got him a card but didn't bother to write it Grin it's still in the drawer

We went for a nice lunch but tbf we do that quite often anyway

ChiselandBits · 14/02/2022 18:59

I really dislike the sneery tone on here from people who choose not to "do" Valentines, or Mothers Day etc, as those that do are "sheeple" being duped by Hallmark and who clearly have less developed sensibilities than the clever ones who don't "need" it. If you don't fine. If someone is on here pouring their heart out feeling sad and alone and you want to tell them its commercial nonsense, also fine. But we do actually get it - I doubt many posters are reassured that otherwise shit partners are really actually lovely because they got a 50p card and some petrol station flowers. Those of you who are clearly so much more evolved than us that like it, why don't you go and pat yourselves on the back somewhere else.

Lyricallie · 14/02/2022 19:00

This is our first valentine's as a married couple which is cute. My DH (finally!) Gave me some lovely roses and candles and I've made fresh pasta which is resting in the fridge to make for dinner tonight (plus we have some prosecco left over from the weekend).

narcdad · 14/02/2022 19:00

I've asked for nothing (as usual) but will get flowers, bottle of booze and some chocolates, every year for the last 20 🤣

DebiNewberry1997 · 14/02/2022 19:01

A mug with Idris Elba on it. It was very romantic. 😘
