What things are you guilty of nicking from hotels?

I'm definitely guilty of stealing things from hotel rooms. I never go for anything overly big, usually teabags, toilet roll and the toiletries when I leave.
What are you guilty of nicking from hotels or your workplace?

@SirChenjins

You said it. So you do know what people think of you. And you obviously care or you wouldn’t spend so much time defending it

She also very clearly said But I do not care what anyone thinks. Did you miss that?

No, I didn’t miss it. I just don’t believe her.
SirChenjins · 15/02/2022 13:09

I don’t believe you don’t believe her.

Blossomtoes · 15/02/2022 13:13

OK 🙄

KarmaStar · 15/02/2022 13:14

@flowervest75 but this makes you a thief,a criminal,untrustworthy,does that not bother you?
I guess not then.
It's likely not the only stuff you steal from your entitled attitude.

SirChenjins · 15/02/2022 13:14

No, I don’t believe that either.

SirChenjins · 15/02/2022 13:16

That was to the little 🙄 face up there
@Sparklingbrook I do not have dinner in the hotel. I do have an evening meal out. Is that not normal?
A hotel providing a packed lunch would provide something more substantial than I want. Why would I pay for food I do not want and would not eat?
I do not think this is about practicalities. I think you just think this is vulgar and common. But I do not care what anyone thinks.
And lots of people do it. I see others doing it.
I'm the same, we have a mid morning substantial breakfast then a meal either out or in hotel restaurant that we want to be hungry for so no actual need for lunch. A couple of mini muffins and some fruit is perfect and saves tine having the source a light snack too. Most people won't make a big performance of it so unlikely you'd see anyone that wasn't with you doing it unless you were especially nosey

Silversprinkles · 15/02/2022 13:19

@TheRealityCheque

Had a few towels. Bathrobes.

Two particularly comfortable feather pillows.

Radio / CD / MP3 / clock thingy.

A funky waste bin, oh and a beautiful looking stainless steel fan.

ShockShockShock
Yikes. That's pretty bad.

Sparklingbrook · 15/02/2022 13:26

I'm going to look out for it now. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 15/02/2022 13:31

@Silversprinkles I read that as a joke response to the super long comfy towel thing. Am I wrong?

DrSbaitso · 15/02/2022 13:32

No, I didn’t miss it. I just don’t believe her.

I believe her. She seems pretty unapologetic about it.

And I definitely believe loads of people do it. That's why it costs £8.50 or whatever for a breakfast buffet of bread, cereal, fruit and yoghurt.

TheHaka · 15/02/2022 13:37

Years ago whilst on a coach trip to Paris quite a few of the younger couples stole the keys to their hotel room, but staff boarded the coach & called them all out 😆

In the past I may have taken shower caps as they're useful to cover a camera during a quick sharp shower, or you can slip them over the bottom of your shoes for packing. I don't take anything these days, if I want something I'll ask if they can sell it to me. One hotel gave me loads of toiletries. Some hotels will have a price list up in case of breakages, others will have a price list to sell you stuff. I wouldn't lower myself to steal anything, imagine being up in court for nicking a towel that loads of other people had used. The very shame of it.

SirChenjins · 15/02/2022 13:44

I really don’t think you’d end up in court for nicking a towel Grin

JollyHolly30 · 15/02/2022 13:48

@flowervest75

DP and I always take a couple of big towels just because we can😂 they’re always super long and so comfy. I love them lol

You're an absolute bottom feeder. Honestly, pathetic.

Monopolyiscrap · 15/02/2022 13:49

Yes lots of people do it. Agree they just don't make a big performance of it. Making multiple sandwiches to take away is I suspect pretty rare. But taking a few things for a light lunch is common. I have walked past staff carrying a banana and apple out of the breakfast room. No one cares.
As I said I would never do it in a small B and B or independent hotel.

And it is not someone taking a roll that makes breakfasts expensive. It is the person with an enormous cooked breakfast piling up 4 sausages that pushes up the price.

I would not do it either if it meant taking a jam sandwich. But a smoked salmon roll with cucumber slices is tasty.

Make a good ep of Judge Rinder maybe? Grin
SirChenjins · 15/02/2022 13:51

Definitely @Sparklingbrook Grin

Sparklingbrook · 15/02/2022 13:52

@SirChenjins

Definitely *@Sparklingbrook* Grin
I'd watch any of these 'nicking stuff from hotels' confessions on Judge Rinder TBF. Grin
TheHaka · 15/02/2022 13:56

@LouiseOuiOui

I don’t think slippers are stealing as I’m pretty certain they are single use? If we’re talking about the terry cloth ones with a thin plastic sole.
When we boarded our flight from HK most of the Chinese on that flight were wearing their slippers 😆

Why did they steal the keys?
Mo1911 · 15/02/2022 14:07
@LadyGagagagaga123 I’m not ashamed at all hence why I posted it🤷‍♀️
Well you should be. They're not yours to take. Would you go into someone's house and leave with their towels?

Silversprinkles · 15/02/2022 14:11

@NeverTouchWarmPants

Can someone please clarify if you can take the slippers sealed in plastic please? Ive always left them as I thought they could be reused
As far as I'm aware, if the plastic wrap is still sealed they will be left for next guest. If opened, they will be binned.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/02/2022 14:12

Why did they steal the keys?

Concerning. I wonder if they would be happy to know that any number of previous occupants still had the key to 'their' room. I can't think of any reason for stealing a key unless you intend to gain illegal/unauthorised entry at a later date.

Does nobody just take photos any more?

Sparklingbrook · 15/02/2022 14:12

@flowervest75 does have a point. All the confessions of nicking from hotels on this thread are hardly going to be from anyone that cares too much about it.
OP asked the question. People answered, and they would have known they'd get some grief over it and most likely be disappointed if they didn't. As they wouldn't get to say over and over that they don't care.

DrSbaitso · 15/02/2022 14:17

If it was the younger couples taking the keys, I guess they're supposed to be a memento of their night in a Parisian hotel.

Pretty horrible because presumably the locks will all need to be changed for security reasons.
