How Many Women WFH are Actually Going Back?

Reading the NAMALT thread is depressing as a man but unsurprising, given the lived experience of my wife and stuff I've read elsewhere.

For those currently WFH, AIBU to wonder how many will choose to stay at home to avoid the BS of having to physically share office space with men?

I ask as I recently read an article about WFH and how offices post covid could turn into straight white male spaces. The rationale is that minorities (whether ethnic or sex/gender) generally don't have a great time so many will opt to stay at home. If women do the same (to avoid harassment) then the only group left will be straight white males. This could then set back years of progress as we'd be back to straight white males running things (oh joy).

A doom/gloom prediction perhaps but would be interesting to know if male behaviour will form part of the decision making process.

I'm British but of Chinese origin and am not really looking to go back, bar 1-2 days/week. Fortunately my colleagues are ok so is down to personal preference.

@AlexaShutUp - I said women because ultimately that's what I see (more women speaking about these benefits of wfh) and because my own situation means it's only me that has the flexible option to wfh - DH is a teacher so absolutely no flexibility to help with drop offs as he's already at school at that time!

OP asked about women returning to office vs wfh. I answered about women. Obviously I hope men take up the option too and that the mental and physical load of children and house is shared more equally going forwards.

Mrs. Hr likes working from home for the benefits.
Mainly work-life balance, plus money saved.
No commute can be 3hrs plus.
No office bullshit, too many people think the office is a real-life ok magazine. Her office is mainly women with the odd man-let.

She never mentions harassment, I don't think it happens.

I got pregnant during the pandemic and I don't think I would have been able to do it without working from home. I had some pretty nasty work politics and I don't think I could have dealt with it.

I worked from home long before the pandemic, as an active choice. Though I have experienced sexism at work, I wouldn't say it was specifically to avoid being around men. Rather, it's that the inflexible model of work involving putting in the hours in a specific place doesn't suit me, and of course that's something that evolved with male as default.

As a mum of two boys (and soon to be 3) I find this post really sad. Of course there are awful predators out there but I'd like to hope that most men are nice, decent people, like most women! IME they are!
