What is expensive but worth every penny?

Following on from the previous thread about expensive purchases that weren't worth it, what is expensive but actually is worth it? What do you own or have done that is very expensive but you don't regret it at all?

Cozee home bedding, the angel fleece one, it's like sleeping in a cloud.

peaceanddove · 13/02/2022 19:38

A 100% pure goosedown quilt. We bought it over 15 years ago and I think it was about £ 350 even back then? But it's Heaven to sleep under - I find normal quilts horribly uncomfortable.

Range Rover Sport - I used to scoff at them. Far too big & totally unnecessary in an urban environment. Then we got one. God, I love it so much. Silky smooth to drive and you just feel utterly cocooned in luxury.

changenametimeagain · 13/02/2022 19:42

Ooh agree with laser eye surgery. 12 years on and still the best money I ever spent.

Also travelling. That's worth the money!

MouseyMoose · 13/02/2022 19:42

Another saying Elemis!

Particularly the cleansing balm and night cream, I keep the other parts of my skincare routine as cheap as possible so I can afford these two products because I have just never found anything as good.

Had one as a child so from the age of 2 upwards - would never have anything else

@MischievousBiscuits

Well *@maireas*, I like it. You can think what you like 🥰
No problems if you like it! Go for it!! I didn't think it was a luxury product, but hey. Whatever. 😉

Keeping it real here, what with not being well off...

Today I made a special journey to Waitrose (not my usual supermarket) to stock up on their No 1 Lemon curd. It's SO much better than anyone else's lemon curd (Tesco finest is acceptable but still way off) and it even has bits of lemon zest in it)

I love lemon curd, me. A spoonful stirred into 0% strained greek yoghurt...or just onto a soft wholemeal roll. Mmmmm.

@Teadrinker11 you’ve caused a 25 page thread!! Great question, but I think you owe it to us to do a “summary” post of the top mentioned items Grin

Grenlei · 13/02/2022 20:31

Certainly not a luxury but something essential IMHO albeit increasingly expensive to run, is a tumble dryer. My mum bought her first one a few weeks after I was born. We had very little money growing up, but always had a tumble dryer, as have I since I moved out in my 20s. I can't imagine not having one...the inconvenience of always having to wait hours for things to dry. Definitely worth it.

Cartier Must perfume.

The Shard. We stayed there a few years ago, not long after it opened. I was a little sceptical that it would be worth the money, but it really did feel like a truly luxury experience. Expensive but worth it.

JoanWilderbeast · 13/02/2022 20:31

I haven't even heard of many of these things, lol.

Ais234 · 13/02/2022 20:34

Another IVF one.

5 years, 7 cycles, £40k but very lucky that it was successful on two of those cycles and now have 2 beautiful children.

Meant we couldn't afford alot of the other things mentioned here but all worth it!

I love that this follows my £2 lemon curd!

TNTX Numbing cream for a wax/epliation. I used my epilator all over my legs and bikini line after using it and literally couldn't feel a thing. Amazing stuff and means I can do it myself!

ufucoffee · 13/02/2022 21:26

@StoneofDestiny Proper 5* hotels, don't want to stay somewhere less comfortable than my home

That is the richest thing I've ever heard anyone say. I'd love my home to be as comfortable as a 5* hotel Smile

offered my children the latest iPhone etc for Christmas or a smaller present and memories! They chose the latter. So £20 for Xmas day and then I’ve taken one to Harry Potter world (other doesn’t like hp) one paddle boarding for the day (again other one doesn’t fancy it) a swimming course for one and a painting course for the other etc we call it investing in ourselves.
Have just returned from all day course with eldest foraging and cooking our own stuff and she cried on the way home and say I love these days and I’m learning so much as well
As having time on my own with you.

@Nailsbythesea this is lovely!
