What expensive purchase do you regret spending money on?

Or purchases, whatever it was you spent money on and was so expensive, why do you regret it? Impulse purchase in the heat of the moment? I think the most expensive things I regret spending money on are expensive beauty products which I didn't need. I enjoy using them, but regret spending precious money on them. What expensive things do you regret spending money on?

Wedding. Loved it but spent more than we should have ..

I know a lot of people who have bought houses since covid that are regretting it now. (Relocated- but now they need to be back nearer to workplaces)

buckeejit · 12/02/2022 21:39

@SunflowerSmith you need latex, it's awesome

Ilikewinter · 12/02/2022 21:39

Dyson fan/air purifier...... bought it because of a hot night in lockdown 1, plus id had to cancel my holiday...... at the end of the day its just a bloody fan!

Also dyson hairdryer but i returned it after a few days....lesson learnt, dont buy expensive dyson stuff!!

Woahthehorsey · 12/02/2022 21:40

Our bath.

It's too big. I know. You're probably thinking "that's impossible" but it is! Can't lie comfortably in it. It'll cost a fortune to replace it. We love baths.

squishmycherry · 12/02/2022 21:41

One of these ar home ipl hair removal things. It was around £300-400 and did nothing - spent loads of time doing it too.

@NutellaEllaElla

Oh and the Phillips Lumea. I don't have time for that.
Oh I love mine! Yes you have to put the time in but I now don't have to shave my underarms, bikini line or legs ever again!
Fittleswade · 12/02/2022 21:42

@NoneOfYour32Potatoes

Some jewellery a long time ago that now is just a burden because we have to insure the jewellery and I will never wear them again, the resale value is poor and I seriously doubt my DC will “treasure” them since I don’t.
I feel this. And Hiscox the only one that'll insure outside the house. Costs a fortune in premiums.

Not massively expensive but got gardener to save time. He was terrible- left grass all over the lawn, didn't strim or edge.

buckeejit · 12/02/2022 21:42

Some beauty products but I usually research meticulously before big purchases & can't think of any glaring duds-love some of the stuff listed like instantpot & big hair!

@Fiftysixthnamechange

Dyson hairdryer, I don't get it, am I missing something?! It's crap, leaves my hair Crispy too.
I love mine. My previously frizzy, unruly hair looks fantastic every single day with almost no effort.
1415isgreat · 12/02/2022 21:44

A pair of Valentino heels. I managed to wear once, got pregnant and had a baby and my feet were never the same size again. And didn’t fit in the shoes again 😔 still not over it

Iamthedom · 12/02/2022 21:45

@VodselForDinner
Same I bought the oak Bayswater irs so heavy and awkward and i can’t fit all my crap in it
I think I bought it 4 - 5 years ago
It comes out for funerals & weddings
It’s been to both of my parents and a friends wedding in that time

I also bought the matching purse

Cost £300 and it’s been used every single day so much more useful and it’s lovely well designed and gas loads of credit card slots

alfagirl73 · 12/02/2022 21:45

Bondi Boost hair wave thingy... used it once. Started out okay but by the end of the day I looked like Crystal Tipps after a bad encounter with a plug socket and it took several washings and much time with straighteners to calm it down!

Foodie Ninja... I just don't get what the big deal is. I still prefer my normal slow cooker!

Fittleswade · 12/02/2022 21:45

@Itshothothot

Miele washing machine (had loads of issues with it)

Wool rugs (they never stopped shedding)

Trampoline (barely used)

Bosch cordless hoover

Loads of high end beauty products

Lazer hair removal

I love my Miele. It's always the first thing I buy for any new gaff I live in and laser hair removal worked brilliantly for me. Last sesh about 5 years ago and I'm still completely hair free.
DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 12/02/2022 21:46

Put an expensive-ish bathroom in a cheap-ish house then moved a couple of years later. Now live with a cheap bathroom & been here nearly 20 years.

Fittleswade · 12/02/2022 21:47

I love too @mizzo I wonder if they work best on curly/frizzy hair?

Oh I am glad I have read this I have been hankering as had read they were quicker than normal dryers
SiliconDioxide79 · 12/02/2022 21:51

A car which happened to have my kids initials in the numberplate. It felt like fate! It was a shit car and the turbo broke after a month!!!

buckeejit · 12/02/2022 21:51

I think I might want a lumea actually. I never shave my legs, get them waxed a couple of times a year so they're not too thick but would happily put it in a few hours to get rid of them for good.

I bought the Air Wrap and felt the same. Such a waste. Dyson have no quibble returns if you haven't had it long.

@Fittleswade

I love too *@mizzo* I wonder if they work best on curly/frizzy hair?
My DD loves it too and her hair is poker straight.
MagicMatilda · 12/02/2022 21:53

Brought a house, as I put the key in the door I massively regretted it and knew it was all wrong.

The Lumea doesn't get rid of them for good, but it will slow down growth. You'd be better off going to a clinic. Much quicker and it will be permanent.
TatianaBis · 12/02/2022 21:56

Portable sauna.

Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Smallkeys · 12/02/2022 21:57

Dyson cordless useless:-(
