Abit outing but nevermind
I've been bidding for a property thur council for nearly 8years. I'm sharing a room with 2 children(6 &8) eldest(14) has own room.
I'm currently 2nd on 3 properties never ever been so close.
Aibu- to actually stand a chance I can't sleep with thinking!
Ainbu- not 1st probably won't happen.

Well, yes, if the figures used are incorrect, then it needs recalculating.
I think you'll be ok, because you can prove you only failed the check because of errors.
There are strict procedures that have to be followed.

If it's any consolation (I'm sure it isn't!) I had numerous hold ups, due to incorrect information and poor communication. It was very stressful and took 7 months from the offer to moving in. But it has been life changing. Literally.

Incidentally, the laminate flooring was left throughout the downstairs and the stairs and 2 bedrooms were carpeted. I received an email from the HA informing me that the previous tenant was 'gifting' them to me. I actually replied saying I didn't want them, as I'd had no viewing (despite the 7month wait) and I didn't want to be lumbered with the cost of removing and disposing of hideous carpets, but when I moved in, they were here, anyway.

I'm rooting for you, OP.

I know this has knocked you for six and is grossly unfair but don't let them away with it. If she has miscalculated your paperwork put your complaint in writing and ask for an immediate review. Hopefully your appeal will be successful. I worked in housing many many years ago so am totally out if date re the benefit system and how HB/UC works and I feel gutted for you and everyone else in this situation as the whole point of social housing was that it was affordable and HB covered all of the rent or some of the short fall. This government are truly despicable. I'm rooting for you and hope you get a good outcome.

I've asked her to recheck and go from there she said all this at 5.15 last night and probably went home from work.... I hope its sorted today I can't go thur all this everyday. I'm off to work with no phone signal so can't even ring her. Positive thoughts I will appeal and complain my arse off!

Shit, that can't be right. Will be thinking of you and keeping everything crossed she corrects the errors today

christmaskittenincoming · 25/02/2022 08:49

You have to get the corrections made, this seems extremely unfair.

GingerFigs · 25/02/2022 08:59

Rooting for you OP!! Fingers crossed you get the house.

NervesAreSettingIn · 25/02/2022 09:09

Hope you get somewhere soon, I've been in temporary for 6 years now it's so hard.
In that time I've only ever viewed one property that I was number one on and it was perfect, until I went to view it and the council had listed it wrong it wa meant to be a 2 bedroom but turns out it was only 1 Angry that was almost 3 years ago.

I'm coming in weekly at 4 & 5 depending on what properties they have available some weeks its 2 some 10 just keepingvmy fingers crossed we get somewhere soon.

SilverHairedCat · 25/02/2022 09:16

Don't give up! Keep pushing, complain and appeal if you have to. We had to do this for my mate - she's 45 and disabled and the accessible 1 bed bungalow she was finally offered was suddenly taken away as she wasn't over 50. Which was a made up rule by that particular housing officer.

So I appealed it straight to her manager and made a formal complaint about it as this wasn't in the ad, it was not in their policies and it was a rule made up by an individual to suit her little area of control. We won, she was dealt with and now my mate has her lovely little bungalow, but her housing officer hates her which is very difficult but heyho.

wonderful news, @Donut22! So glad you were an excellent advocate for yourself - it just shows that you need to be heard, and not be afraid to push. As to the numbers being wrong, shame on them. Glad you caught it.

Can't wait to hear your moving in announcement. Sleep well this weekend.

From the affordability assessment to getting the keys, was around a week or two for me x
