Sir Mark Todd - where’s the outrage? Animal cruelty

Just watched a disgusting video of this man whipping a clearly terrified horse ten times to get it to go into water. Cowardly running back each time so the horse couldn’t kick him to rightfully defend itself from the beating. Total scum.

I hope he will get similar fines/outrage/RSPCA investigations as ongoing for Kurt Zouma.

He’s very very sorry though 🙄 more like sorry he’s gotten caught. Terrifying innocent animals - he should be prosecuted

He said: 'I wholeheartedly apologise to the horse and all involved for my actions in this video clip. One of the main things I preach is about establishing a mutual respect between horse and rider and that patience and kindness is the best way to get results.
'I believe this is one of the main attributes along with a great empathy with animals that has enabled me to have a long and successful career in Eventing. I am very disappointed in myself that I did not adhere to that in this case.'

What a load of disingenuous bollocks. He’s a vile coward who needs prosecuting and he mustn’t be allowed to keep horses or any other animals ever again. Thank you to whoever released this video for exposing this scumbag.

bluewanda · 12/02/2022 20:28

I honestly can’t understand how anyone can be so cruel. It’s horrific.

It’s amazing he managed to apologise while simultaneously bragging about how great he is and how great his career has been.

You couldn’t make it up!

What does this apology mean? Is he trying to say this is the only time he’s behaved like this? If that’s the case he’s very unlucky that he got caught in camera the only time he did it Hmm

MrsTimRiggins · 12/02/2022 20:59

He apologises wholeheartedly to the horse? Sounds like he’s taking the piss a bit to me 👀

RoscoeConklin · 12/02/2022 21:07

Has the video been removed now? I haven't seen it but just get a blank page.

RoscoeConklin · 12/02/2022 21:08

Money talks and all that ..... bastard !!!!!!!!

Portlypotatospalpaul · 12/02/2022 21:10

It’s dreadful. I am wondering who the 9% are who think you are being unreasonable OP.. Shock

WildFlowerBees · 12/02/2022 21:11

I was looking at Mark Todd rugs for my horse, so glad I didn't buy one. Anything that he's affiliated with I will not be buying.

Who are these people who are supposed to care and respect animals treating them so badly?

Prosecute all of them!

bluewanda · 12/02/2022 21:17

Fellow animal abusers?

'Old school', they still exist, as I said, it is endemic.
bluewanda · 12/02/2022 21:21

I trust his title will be removed?

Giraffesandbottoms · 12/02/2022 21:22

@turnitonandoffagain

I am not surprised by this at all. I am currently training a young thoroughbred and some of the advice I receive is shocking - so much of it about “showing the horse Who is the boss” rather than patience and trust etc.

Giraffesandbottoms · 12/02/2022 21:23

It’s very clear now how mark todd has trained his horses….

SweetFelicityArkright · 12/02/2022 21:27

Another equestrian that is shocked and saddened by this.
It says that it's alleged to be Mark Todd but then he's apologised so seems pretty clear to me.

bluewanda · 12/02/2022 21:27

I’m so glad this nasty man has been exposed for who he truly is. His legacy and reputation are now completely trashed and rightly so.

MrsWinters · 12/02/2022 21:34

What do you mean where’s the outrage? Governing bodies have come out and said it’s unacceptable, retailers have said they’ll stop products with his name on.
It’s horrible footage, but I think there’s plenty of people outraged

GucciBear · 12/02/2022 22:07

Hello, everyone. I didn't realise that this post had started. I put my own post on and have no wish to dilute this one. Time for all of us to make a fuss.

Throckmorton · 12/02/2022 22:13

Well, shit, there goes my life-long hero. Absolutely despicable behaviour - he should face criminal charges for that

Sh05 · 12/02/2022 22:31

I completely understand the outrage and feel there should be serious consequences for him but honestly everyone standing around is just as bad.
If the jockey didn't like what was happening she/he should have stopped it as well as those who were watching.
It doesn't seem like it was the first time this has happened in their presence and he's probably not the only jockey to treat a horse like that, he's only the first to be caught out because someone posted the clip.

There's no one to blame here but MT.
Prescottdanni123 · 12/02/2022 22:49

@RoscoeConklin

People who stand and do nothing in these situations are never blameless.

RoscoeConklin · 12/02/2022 22:53

I don't think it is that easy Prescott, people in awe of the great MT, people in his employ who think he must know better and/or need to keep their jobs.

A young lass on her horse who has paid for a clinic with the great MT, he must be right, yes? Well he isn't, we know that now.

It isn't as simple as being blameless just because you're there.

ChristmasPlanning · 12/02/2022 22:53

Disgusting. I watched him at an event years ago & thought he was amazing.

I hope he's prosecuted
