How many takeaways?!

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

OP posts:

One a month

Heidi451 · 11/02/2022 10:11

Zero.

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 11/02/2022 10:11

Never. I don't like waiting for them.

Hersetta427 · 11/02/2022 10:11

Proper takeaways that we eat at home probably about twice a year. We might grab a McDonalds or a KFC about once a month if we have missed lunch due to kids sports matches.

I am always disappointed by the food, they cost a fortune so I would rather cook a couple of nice steaks etc for less than half the money.

ABitOfAShitShow · 11/02/2022 10:11

I’m trying to cook a bit at the moment but usually, at least several times a week (though not necessarily typical unhealthy food). Sometimes it’s twice a day.

I’m single though and a bit worn out (and I get no pleasure from cooking) - when I was with my ex, we cooked more.

KosherDill · 11/02/2022 10:12

Maybe six times a year.

We don't find it worth the cost, generally. Would rather spend the money on nice holidays.

Rosscameasdoody · 11/02/2022 10:12

Used to have one every week, but lived without them during the lockdowns and, strangely enough, haven’t had one since.

fellrunner85 · 11/02/2022 10:12

Once every month to six weeks if we're talking about evening meals. Genuinely amazed at those who do it 2-3 times a week as we simply couldn't afford that (or want the additional calories tbh!)

If we're including lunches, ie getting a salad or sandwich while out at work, then 2-3 times a week.

MoltenLasagne · 11/02/2022 10:12

At least once a week - we live in a city though so there are lots of incredible restaurants on deliveroo. Our favourites are Caribbean, Vietnamese and proper veggie Indian food which we'd definitely not be able to make at home. Nothing cold or greasy about them.

We've got a baby at home so we spend the same money we used to spend on eating out. May have to reduce frequency once he's old enough to want some...

EileenGC · 11/02/2022 10:13

@fromdownwest

Once every 3 months or so I would say.

Genuine question, people who have 2 a day pay per month on that?

I sometimes have two a day. For example on Tuesday this week I had Korean tofu bibimbap for lunch. 8€. It was literally just steamed rice with pickled veg, tofu and an egg. So the opposite of greasy and unhealthy. Then for dinner I got a veggie mushroom burger and chips, ‘handmade’ type of place on my way home. 9€. So that’s the equivalent of £15 a day which is the same price I would pay for decent ready meals at the supermarket, if I had the time to visit one.
Mirrorball2022 · 11/02/2022 10:13

Maybe every couple of weeks. We like to go out and eat more tbh but lockdowns got us on the takeaways. So we’ve cut it back now. Eat out 2/3 times a month as a couple and I meet friends for food too.

One or two a month, we cant afford to have them any more than that.

TokyoTen · 11/02/2022 10:14

We have takeaway i once or twice a week - but it isn't unhealthy stuff.

IntermittentParps · 11/02/2022 10:15

About one every two weeks as a household (me, DP and lodger). DP gets one on his own once a week when I'm out late and we're not cooking/eating together.
And one-offs if we're out late, or just fancy not cooking, or for one of our birthdays etc.
We don't drink much as a household, or smoke, or generally spend that much on socialising etc, so I'm OK with the cost. I also tend to go for small independent restaurants and I like to support them.

maddy68 · 11/02/2022 10:15

I can't remember the last time we had a takeaway. So possibly once or twice a year?

FangsForTheMemory · 11/02/2022 10:15

About 1-2 a month mainly because there are so few where I live. I go out for lunch once or twice a week though.

ExConstance · 11/02/2022 10:16

maybe 3 x a year. They always seem very unhealthy.

Hdhr8jsj · 11/02/2022 10:16

Too much, we eat out about 3/4 times a week.

In my defence, kids are grown and I go out with my DP.

expatmigrant · 11/02/2022 10:16

Usually once a week plus one eat out at weekend

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 11/02/2022 10:17

I suppose an average of 3 a month, but we also eat out 4-6 times a month.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 11/02/2022 10:17

Surely the answers are going to be dependent on how good the food options are locally. We have “takeaways” ie restaurant food at home at least 3 times a week. Last night we had sashimi tacos and avocado and arugula salad and omg! Food of the Gods right there. No grease in sight.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/02/2022 10:17

Once or twice a week.

Meals out probably twice a month on average.

Hshuznw · 11/02/2022 10:17

One to two a week for us!

BuddhaForMary · 11/02/2022 10:18

I don't think there is a 'normal' amount, is there? It's all relative. We have about one a month because I can't afford more than that at the minute. When I could, we had it once a week.
