How many takeaways?!

I'm wondering if my husband and I are over indulging and it would be good to know if we are normal or not Grin

How many takeaways do you and your DP (not DC) have per week / month? 🤫

Never. We always cook and it is always sooo much better and tastier and healthier. Occasionally we treat ourselves to a very nice meal out at a top restaurant.

DoINeedMoreWeetabix · 11/02/2022 15:47

Depends how you define takeaway

We don't live near takeaway but we have the ready meal boxes (eg samosa etc or spring rolls for Chinese) from the supermarket which we cook ourselves prob twice a month

AxolotlEars · 11/02/2022 15:53

We don't eat them unless someone in our house has asked for one for their birthday meal

lapasion · 11/02/2022 15:56

A couple of times a month. Usually because I’m on my knees with tiredness. However, we do buy ready meals and pizzas from the supermarket once a week, which is probably just as bad as a takeaway.

Anonymous48 · 11/02/2022 15:57

We rarely get takeaways. Usually only when one of us isn't feeling well or something. We don't consider it a treat, just a way of getting us fed easily. We do eat out pretty regularly, two or three times a week probably.

GettingThemFromHereToThere · 11/02/2022 15:57

1-2 takeaways per month

But on top of that we probably eat out at a cafe or restaurant a further 3 times a month.

BahHumbygge · 11/02/2022 16:07

Might have had one in the last 5 years... so never!

We have been to the chippy to eat in about twice in the last year.

Where we used to live there was a fab Indian restaurant, so we got a takeaway once every 3 months or so then.

SazCat · 11/02/2022 16:15

We've only recently got Just Eat in our area, and on there are local cafes and restaurants many of which will deliver breakfasts, cakes, anything they serve really. Oh and Greggs delivery but we've never ordered that as yet!

It was great when the baby was a newborn to be honest!

We try and keep takeaways to once a week (on average, we prob have more in winter but less in summer) but we also do eat out a couple of times a month at a pub or restaurant.

Sorry this was a reply to the poster who was surprised about takeaway breakfasts!!
Pasithea · 11/02/2022 16:21

About 4 times a year.

LowlandLucky · 11/02/2022 16:22

Twice a year at most and only if i have too, have yet to find a place that serves decent food. I refuse to waste £20 on crap food hen i can cook better myself.

FuzzyPuffling · 11/02/2022 16:25

None because we live rurally with no takeaways within 7 miles.

In the olden days when we lived somewhere civilised it was once every month or two.

cushioncovers · 11/02/2022 16:31

At the moment it's twice a week, used to be a lot less.

maddiemookins16mum · 11/02/2022 16:32

At least once a month, sometimes twice. Sometimes I get to 4pm on a Friday and just want to veg on the sofa with a bowl of curry and rice.

Goldfishmountainclimber · 11/02/2022 16:32

Once per year or less

MrsJBaptiste · 11/02/2022 16:35

Once a week, whatever night we've been out drinking. Sometimes they're not even that great but too much wine = takeaway as there's no way we're cooking when we get in at 11pm 😮

Leftbutcameback · 11/02/2022 16:36

A PP was asking about when we grew up, and I was thinking my parents only ever bought fish and chips. I didn't have a takeaway pizza or curry until I was at uni! It's funny because I always think my parents don't like other types of food but recently my mum told me she'd been to a Vietnamese restaurant and loved it.

edenhills · 11/02/2022 16:37

Twice a month, just for me and DH after the kids have gone to bed

Lemonweightloss · 11/02/2022 16:38

Once a fortnight. Not Chinese, Indian or pizza though. We order a chicken kebab ( pitta) from a local takeaway that is famous ! The food is superb and healthy.
I loved the usual takeaway before Lockdown. Felt like a treat. Now not so much.
We probably eat out once a week too.

VickyEadieofThigh · 11/02/2022 16:39

When we were both still working - one a fortnight.

Since we've been retired - we've had 2 in the past 2 years!

RedCandyApple · 11/02/2022 16:39

Use to order loads once or twice a week but I am on a diet now so none, loads of options are im in London.
I never go out to restaurants though so I guess I make up for that!

SweetPetrichor · 11/02/2022 16:40

We get Pizza Hut takeaway whenever there is a wrestling pay-per-view to watch, so I’d guess roughly once every few months. DP sometimes gets a Chinese but I can’t eat that due to intolerances it’s a rare occurrence…maybe once or twice a year.

womaninatightspot · 11/02/2022 16:49

Payday fish and chips once a month.
