With most people their age unable to buy any sort of home of their own, it just annoyed me. What's wrong with Kensington Palace and a Norfolk mansion. Confused Doesn't portray the Royals in a good light to me. AIBU?

CathyorClaire-there are a lot that are basically about the hobbies of the wealthy

So dozens of charities for cancers, wounded veterans, cruelty to children/animals, scholarships for underprivileged youth, Doctors Without Borders, children’s hospitals, world hunger, environmental/World Wildlife Fund, etc are simply “hobbies of the wealthy” ? Right-o.

And do you think your charitable giving doesn’t align with things you have an interest in? Do you donate to RSPCA and own a dog or a cat? So that’s just your hobby innit? Dogs and cats. You’re not doing anything nice, you’re just doing a hobby for your own enjoyment by donating to RSPCA.

Well, if you look it it wasn't actually me that made that point originally but...

There's a difference between nebulous 'patronage' for charity that on analysis often vanishes into thin air - see links above - and actual hard cash donation which as ever with everything financial associated with the royals seems shrouded in mystery.

Go figure.

@Ciaram55

The fact the queen supports charities doesn't justify them. Just because they effortlessly put their name to charities doesn't make them worthy of all the huge privilege we give them. The fact that we have corrupt governments doesn't either. Boris Johnson and his cronies give not a damn for any of us, nor too does any of the royals. To believe they do is delusional.
This. For God’s sake, they’re mentally corrupt, they genuinely claim a Divine Right to Rule.

And the lovely innocent queenie has profited from arms dealing and depleted uranium for wars, it’s truly revolting.

AutomaticMoon · 11/02/2022 21:43

@Monopolyiscrap

The argument seems to be because our government commits fraud and wastes money, it is fine for others to have masses of taxpayers money for no real reason.
Racing to the bottom.

Not to mention the investment in the rapacious and now happily defunct Brighthouse.

AutomaticMoon · 11/02/2022 21:47

Barbados have cancelled the queen in November, hopefully the others will follow suit.

Making citizens swear a pledge of allegiance to the queen is also disgusting, in my opinion. People should serve society other than themselves and theirs, not be ‘subjects’ of the queen.

Bread and circuses, is all I see.

AutomaticMoon · 11/02/2022 21:52

@CathyorClaire Thank you, I didn’t know about this. And do you know the sweetly named Way Ahead Group? She set it up to protect randy andy (🤮) and his ‘reputation’ in the media.

And the whole PR team for the RF is gross, they keep endlessly stirring shit with harry and meghan, it’s so primary school petty behaviour, it’s extremely unpleasant and demoralising to witness the population partaking in these toxic games.

AutomaticMoon · 11/02/2022 21:54

And while we’re on the subject, there’s a lot of tactical philanthropy happening with these super rich predators, there’s some good books about it. Bill Gates is another one who pretends to be doing this from the kindness of his heart. Has anyone seen the sinister interview with him smiling that Epstein is dead, v unsettling.

Blossomtoes · 11/02/2022 22:10

Of course there are. There are books about every lunatic conspiracy theory you can think of. I smiled when I heard Epstein was dead, most right minded people were very happy.

@Icantgetalifeifmyheartsnotinit

They probably don't have Netflix / go to the gym / Starbucks every day, so can afford their 3rd property.
😂😂😂 love it!
CathyorClaire · 12/02/2022 11:05

Thanks, AutomaticMoon

I wasn't aware of the Way Ahead Group. The royals really do seem to lurch from one PR disaster to another at an astonishing rate.

Monopolyiscrap

Interesting to note the royal links with the secretive Freemasons among all the other cosy little gigs.

Like calls to like, eh?
