Any Tory who defended Boris's Savile smear as 'cut and thrust' should immediately recant

379 replies

noblegiraffe · 07/02/2022 20:27

Any of the despicable lot who did the media rounds defending Boris making a far-right smear in parliament as 'political cut and thrust' should be faced with a journalist tomorrow asking whether they had reconsidered in the light of the mob surrounding Keir Starmer tonight calling him a fucking traitor, saying he should be hung, and repeating the same accusation. Their responses should be collated and published.

In recent years we have seen two MPs murdered. These mobs must be taken seriously. They should not be whipped up by the Prime Minister in the Houses of Parliament.

Boris has to accept responsibility for this, and every fucker who defended it as acceptable should be called to account.

Well it certainly backfired on BJ. No one I am sure really defends this, but they have to tow the party line

thecatfromjapan · 08/02/2022 09:52

I'm really sorry about that, 52andblue.
I think you were right to include that information (it matters) and you deserved better than a cut and paste reply.

And you're right to talk about it here. It matters.

(And you matter. I wish you love, healing and joy.)

Peregrina · 08/02/2022 09:53

Even he has to realise that wouldn't work. It's not the Falklands.

Maybe his Suez moment?

hanahsaunt · 08/02/2022 09:56

Thank you for the summary of responses - it has helped my letter to my True Blue MP enormously.

IncompleteSenten · 08/02/2022 09:59

Some of them are saying Johnson's claim about saville had nothing to do with the mob yelling paedophile and saville Confused

So Johnson makes a disgusting claim and a mob assembles waving a noose and yelling paedophille, stuff about saville among other things and we are supposed to believe that's a coincidence?

I'm insulted they think we are all that stupid.

And the mob weren't shouting that?

Really?

I beg to differ.

Peregrina · 08/02/2022 10:00

I suspect your True Blue Tory will trot out the standard reply. I think they must get a crib sheet circulated to them - if the Constituent raises xxx then the response is yyyyy.

Retisestress · 08/02/2022 10:00

@MorningStarling…there is a big difference though between Boris and Keir….Boris did know about the piss ups in Downing Street…he went to most of them and your defence of him is so disrespectful towards so many people for different reasons!
Keir was the boss at DPS but was not aware of what a menace Saville was …he could only prosecute if the evidence was there .

Ponoka7 · 08/02/2022 10:01

Saville had the protection of Thatcher and the royal family. I'd would have liked the press to have reminded the public of that. Then hopefully the Palace would see Boris off.

DePfeffoff · 08/02/2022 10:02

It must be awful for Starmer and his family especially in light of MP murders. I don't know how Bojo can look at himself. The conservative party are a dangerous group of self serving twats.

Johnson can look at himself because he is a natural bully who didn't grow out of it when he left school. I must say, if my husband had done something like that I would be absolutely mortified.

ilovesooty · 08/02/2022 10:03

@noblegiraffe

Thanks for the laugh, MorningStarling, how long did that pile of bullshit take to come up with?
It's a reprehensible post.
boogiewithasuitcase · 08/02/2022 10:03

@boogiewithasuitcase

I don't remember Julian Assange giving a statement, as Prime Minister, to the House of Commons and then throwing in a completely irrelevant and untrue political point.

Plus using words like 'twat' is hardly helping you to take the higher moral ground.

Sorry that was to MorningStarling
IncompleteSenten · 08/02/2022 10:05

@mumda

Watching BBC news this morning and someone who was there has reported as the crowd was shouting about Julian Assange.

We are easily misled by the media when they want us to go a different path.

Good job there is video evidence then.

Here is Labour MP Paula Sherriff begging Johnson in Parliament in 2019 to stop using words like 'betrayal' and 'traitor' as that language is used and repeated in the death threats that she and other MPs receive.
Johnson replies that he has 'never heard so much humbug in all his life'.

When has Boris Johnson ever used the word 'traitor'? I heard LBC presenter James O'Brien retract that accusation on air shortly afterwards (no doubt advised by LBC lawyers) - no wonder Boris Johnson said 'humbug' when accused of using the word 'traitor'. Lisa Nandy accused Boris Johnson of calling other MPs 'traitors' after the death of Sir David Amess - in an attempt to deflect criticism of Angela Rayner. It's OK for Labour MPs to repeat false accusations?

DePfeffoff · 08/02/2022 10:07

Sajid Javid (time to move on)

But he and Johnson know full well that they are whipping up idiots who won't move on. This is the sort of attitude which led to Jo Cox being assassinated.

baroqueandblue · 08/02/2022 10:07

I am no BJ supporter

Funny how you say that a lot on threads, and yet your posts subtly (or otherwise) end up supporting him Hmm

DePfeffoff · 08/02/2022 10:11

Back on deflection duty, @Clavinova? Any chance of you actually addressing the issue this thread is about?

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 08/02/2022 10:11

"I am no BJ supporter" is the new "I'm not a racist but..."

Ever watch yes minister and yes prime minister?

That's not the question, the question is ...

Clavinova · 08/02/2022 10:16

Boris making a far-right smear

I don't really get the 'far-right' reference - I wouldn't normally describe the Sun newspaper as 'far-right' (June 2020);

ClaudineClare · 08/02/2022 10:17

Nice try at a smear @MorningStarling, but no cigar. We all know why the cases in question did not go to court.

Johnson referred to the Brexit Bill as the Surrender Bill. He did that 8 times. It was designed to promote the idea that anyone that voted for it was traitorous.

amp.theguardian.com/politics/2019/sep/26/pms-divisive-surrender-bill-phrase-neither-careless-nor-casual

“The use of language yesterday and over the past few weeks, such as the surrender bill, such as invoking the war, such as betrayal and treachery, it has clearly been tested, and workshopped and worked up and entirely designed to inflame hatred and division,” she said.
“I get it, it works, it is working. It is not sincere, it is totally planned, it is completely and utterly a strategy designed by somebody to harm and cause hatred in our country.”

DePfeffoff · 08/02/2022 10:19

Johnson avoids using the word "traitor" in Parliament simply because it's not allowed. He manages to make the accusation rather more circuitously, however; for example:

"I know that my Right Honourable friend will appreciate that in deciding to remain in the customs union, the leader of the opposition is guilty of a shameless U-turn and a betrayal of millions of people who voted 'leave'."

"Out of sheer selfishness and political cowardice, members opposite are unwilling to move aside and give the people a say. We will not betray the people who sent us here. That is what they want to do."

And that's the sort of emotive language that fires up idiots like the mob who attacked Starmer, even before you get to disgraceful, lying accusations about Savile.

noblegiraffe · 08/02/2022 10:19

When has Boris Johnson ever used the word 'traitor'?

Gosh, I'm not sure, Clav, but he does use words like 'betrayal', 'surrender act', 'tank-topped bum-boys', 'piccaninnies with watermelon smiles' and so on, so there's no shortage of objectionable language from him if we really want to get into the details of the sorts of things is is on the record as saying.
