So Carrie is the reason Boris is not a great Prime Minster?

Did anyone really think he would be?

He can’t even get his hair in order let alone a country.

Not that I’m a fan of hers but come on, he’s got his own mind (and being governed by your dick is still a conscious choice as an adult man).

Boris was caught trying to get a journalist beaten up when Carrie would have been a mere toddler! But she knew his number and decided she wanted to get involved. Unlike previous spouses of PMs Carrie had a vested interest in the political machinations of the day - I highly doubt she let go of all that by becoming a mother and wife to the PM, if anything it bought her closer to political power.

Kendodd · 06/02/2022 10:41

I do blame each and every person who voted Tory at the last election, as we knew what he was like and yet they put him in power anyway

I agree.
I couldn't stand Corbyn but everyday extra Johnson is in power makes me wish more and more Corbyn was PM. I don't see how ANYONE could be worse than Johnson.

He does not give one shiny shit about anyone. He'll tell you whatever you want to hear at the time and the scatty, cuddly uncle routine is a carefully curated persona to mask. Stop calling him Boris. He's not a child. Don't let yourself get caught up in his hair. It's all part of the act. He could brush his hair but then you'd be forced to focus on his work.

He's far from the fool he plays. That's why he's such a dangerous bustard.

Oblomov22 · 06/02/2022 10:47

2 of my friends worked with her years ago. They have nothing flattering to say.
But to blame her for him is just silly.

Moneypennysfreedomfund · 06/02/2022 10:52

@LittleBearPad

I quite agree she could be the trolliest troll sitting under every bridge…. But that’s not in question, men behind the scenes are blaming the wife of the Prime Minister for his lies, manipulations, judgement and poor leadership. He is the PM not her, his judgement, his lies, his manipulation his poor leadership. Whether or not she makes Dame Thora Hird look like a a flea bitten warthog with the morals of a hyena is not the issue.

I’m fairly certain
I would really dislike Carrie if I met her … ( she probably wouldn’t be that fussed about me) . But she is not the reason The Prime Minister is a lying charlatan with no moral compass.

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 06/02/2022 11:03

@Rainbowqueeen

It doesn’t really matter if the article is designed to support Boris or be negative about him. It’s just disgusting that a journalist would think this is ok to do It has implications for her career as well as his. Saying she used his phone and sent messages ‘from him’

Just vile

If that's what's claimed in the book then I don't think the journalist is really the issue.

No she’s not. But her behaviour isn’t helping and in certain cases - party to celebrate Cummings leaving / wallpaper gate - actively making things worse. The fact the PM is apparently too weak to say no to her doesn’t help and is definitely his fault too

StormzyinaTCup · 06/02/2022 11:07

I didn't read the article as them blaming her for all his cock ups, more that she certainly hasn't helped her own husbands situation, she is over invested in her husbands job where she shouldn't be and has too much influence (his fault). They are forcing his hand to tell her she needs to back off and that he needs to employ the right person for the job not whoever happens to be at the top his wife's Christmas Card list.

It seems to be working because another of Carries good friends, Henry Newman, has now been given the heave ho by Boris.

Having a vagina doesn't trump all.

Ipadflowers · 06/02/2022 11:08

I think if someone was slagging off a womens hair or appearance there would be an outcry, wtf does it matter what he looks like or what hair style he has? How very shallow indeed.

And if it was reported a woman in a position of power had a controlling partner the responses would be very different.

I doubt the attacks on Carrie are correct, at least not wholly, I do believe she meddles though and likely to a heavy extent.

merrymouse · 06/02/2022 11:12

@Jarstastic

I do not think things would be as bad if he had moved into Downing Street with Marina Wheeler.
Why?

Which part of his life pre-Carrie makes you think his behaviour has changed?

Eleganz · 06/02/2022 11:13

We have to remember that there are sections of the press whose owners have a vested interest in having Boris continue as PM. They will print anything at all that deflects blame away from him, even if it means attacking his wife.

Clearly anyone who shacks up with Boris is not going to be a decent person, but he is the Prime Minister and he needs to be held accountable. This cabal of people and organisations acting like he is some sweet summer child bimbling around innocently while others malevolently take advantage of him is pathetic, disingenuous and taking us all for fools.

The Tory party is a divided, toxic mess and I for one am glad that the veneer that they are a united and functional political party is being stripped away.

Of course, the problem is that when Boris goes we'll either have the psychopath currently in charge of the Treasury who thinks it is okay to enforce a government loan on everyone in the country while slashing taxes for bankers or the idiot in the foreign office who thinks that half a million to fly half way around the world to sign a piece of paper is a good use of taxpayers' money.

merrymouse · 06/02/2022 11:14

It matters for two reasons:

1). He often looks scruffy in situations where this shows lack of respect.
2). It’s an act.

Hoppinggreen · 06/02/2022 11:15

I think it’s perfectly acceptable to criticise anyone’s appearance if it is a deliberate cultivated look to create a persona that distracts from what they are really like. Johnson has created “harmless bumbling funny Boris” who we should forgive his little idiosyncratic ways but he is actually an utter Bastard
Trump was the same - his orange face and comb over made people laugh, and suddenly he wasn’t so funny

roastingmichael · 06/02/2022 11:27

@TheWaterNokk

He will blame her for the fuckups and move on to whoever he's shagging on the side right now

Wasn’t Cummings blamed for things Boris did before Carrie came along

VladmirsPoutine · 06/02/2022 12:29

I heard Sarah vine defending Carrie this morning on Sunday Live. Interesting really.... wonder where all that empathy was for a certain woman whom also married a man of huge influence.

Yes.

I found her article

Ah yes, he would have been truly Churchillian if it hadn't been for that scheming minx.

'Lord' Ashcroft really does churning out his tabloid style biogs.

Gotta have something to keep him occupied in Belize.

SartresSoul · 06/02/2022 12:52

He’s always been a wanker, just look at how he treat his first two wives. He cheated on his second wife when she was going through chemo. Also think it’s telling that his adult children have nothing to do with him and didn’t attend his wedding.

yes, she has been like an attack dog after Meghan Markle. Her empathy is rationed it seems.
DdraigGoch · 06/02/2022 13:02

She is certainly influencing some bad policies (if anyone is wondering why the Conservatives haven't gone all-out for women's rights and still have some people pushing TWAW, she's a big part of it). The influence she apparently had over the Afghan evacuation was bad too.

At the end of the day though, it's up to Boris to say 'no' to her, she only has this influence because he lets her.

Well I read that and I would question quite how sincere she was being (and not for the first time). She made sure to get the reference in about Carrie liking to party and dancing to ABBA.
StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 06/02/2022 13:04

As someone remarked on Twitter yesterday, Carrie was 2 years old when BJ made that phone call where he conspired with Darius Guppy to have a journalist beaten up.

Maybe Carrie was sending bad vibes from her nursery.
