Is this a funny joke or am I sensitive ?

Hi all,

I got my Covid Vaccine today and rang my husband on the way home to tell him how it went. When on the phone he made a joke about how he had been crying as now we wouldn’t be able to have children. I then told him that it wasn’t a funny joke and that he had hurt my feelings. Needless to say he didn’t take it well and said he was only making a joke , it’s not his fault that I don’t have a sense of humour Hmm.

So who is being unreasonable ?

OP posts:
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 04/02/2022 10:25

He's probably just taking the piss out of anti vaxxers.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 04/02/2022 10:26

Oh just read your post, he is an anti vaxxer. I'd tell him to grow up - there is zero evidence to show it causes infertility, whereas covid is proven to cause death.

Cam2020 · 04/02/2022 10:26

To give context he is extremely anti-vaccination . I have gotten both of my vaccinations now against his wishes. He still isn’t speaking to me as he truly believes that I have ruined our chances of having children now.

So then it wasn't a joke then, was it?

TheOccupier · 04/02/2022 10:27

So was he joking or wasn't he? Either way he sounds like a dickhead.

If you had said this in your first post it might have saved other people some time and effort in answering to a completely different scenario.
inheritancetrack · 04/02/2022 10:47

Well it wasn't a joke then if he takes it seriously? He's a twat in general if those are his views.

VainAbigail · 04/02/2022 11:03

Massive drip feed.

Funny how these completely swing the thread in favour of the op……. when it’s not going the way they wanted

Deadringer · 04/02/2022 11:06

@PossiblyDreaming

It’s not very funny but it’s not something to get upset about either 🤷‍♀️
This
Outlyingtrout · 04/02/2022 11:09

So it wasn’t a joke then as per your OP.

If you want a proper discussion or relationship advice then I’d start a new thread but this time give the whole story in your OP so people can actually understand the situation and comment accordingly. Otherwise it’s just a waste of everyone’s time, yours included.

Really? Why are you asking then if it was a funny joke he was having? Hmm.
ADisgruntledPelican · 04/02/2022 11:10

You called it a joke in the title and in the OP but now you're saying it's not a joke Hmm
Either he's in a mood because you over-reacted to a joke or he wasn't making a joke and he's in a mood because you're vaccinated. None of us know which it is because you've told us both Confused
Although regardless, he shouldn't be 'not speaking' to you

titchy · 04/02/2022 11:11

Don't have children with him - unless you want them to remain unvaccinated.

MrsColinRobinson · 04/02/2022 11:12

YABU for phoning an update in the first place. It's just a small bloody jab ffs, nothing newsworthy.

So not a joke Confused

You were calling him after your vaccination to pick a fight?
And he genuinely believes this will impact on you having children together.

MrsColinRobinson · 04/02/2022 11:13

Having just seen your update, don't breed with a moron. I'm all for choice (I'm vaxxed for info) but his ignorance is laughable.

Oh. Well...he isn't actually joking then is he.

that's different.

then, yes, it was a horrible comment.

and he is a dickhead.
Do you actually want children with him?

becuase I would be tempted to say fine, I'll go and have kids with someone who isn't an ignorant twat

drpet49 · 04/02/2022 11:35

* The joke is at the expense of anti vaxxers who are adamant that getting your Covid jab will make you infertile. He's ridiculing their view point. It's not at your expense nothing to be upset by.*

^This. Are you always such hard work OP?

Why would you want to pro-create with someone so hard of thinking? If you did have his baby would be be against them being vaccinated too?
thepeopleversuswork · 04/02/2022 11:43

I think its a bit lame but not offensive. It's a daft take on some conspiracy theory. But not something I would get the hump about.

So he's a moron and a bully.

I voted YABU because you initially said it was a joke - but obviously it wasn't a joke, as you say he truly believes it. Actually, even if he did truly believe it it could still be a joke - I can imagine my non-vaccinated and kind-of-conspiracy-believing BIL saying this to his wife, but he would be mocking himself if anyone. But in your case, since he isn't speaking to you
BasiliskFace · 04/02/2022 11:47

Oops pressed send too soon - since he isn't speaking to you, he is obviously being unreasonable and it isn't a joke

Might wanna read her update
CoalCraft · 04/02/2022 11:48

I mean it's not a very good joke but I don't think it's offensive. Presumably your DH was laughing at the plonkers who believe the vaccine affects fertility?
