David Beckham reveals wife Victoria has eaten the same meal every day for 25 years

538 replies

FlexibleWorkingDenied · 01/02/2022 19:22

Apparently Victoria Beckham will only ever eat grilled fish and steamed veg. Every day for 25 years. She says she won’t eat food cooked in oil, butter or sauces, red meat, or dairy.

AIBU to think life is too short to live without butter!

@Iamthewombat

You’re doing well on your exclamation mark diet. Only two in your last post.
😆😆 I know, it’s bad. I’m glad it gets pointed out - makes me focus on it a bit more.

Must try harder!!!!!!!

@Iamthewombat

But back to four again now. I'm guessing she needs to cut out another punctuation to lose the habit.

Full stops are probably a bit hard core but maybe commas could do it?

UndertheCedartree · 01/02/2022 23:15

I don't think it's fair for him to comment. She said in her book she had an eating disorder and became scared to eat a lot of things. She pretty much just lived on steamed vegetables. I remember it so much as I had an eating disorder too so took it as 'tips'. So actually well done to her if she has added in fish.

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 23:15

user I wasn’t the first person to mention BMI on this thread.

And if you read my post, you’ll clearly see I was talking about body composition muscle v fat.

Your posts are quite difficult to read as they are full of unnecessary punctuation.
Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 23:22

They are written in pretty clear English with the odd typo as am on my phone.

If repeated exclamation marks at the end of sentences cause you issues in your understanding, I would say that the problem lies with you.

Love it when a thread turns to punctuation and spelling.

A ad hominem of the least clever kind.

Foreverlexicon · 01/02/2022 23:23

I think it’s very sad.
My instant thought is eating disorder; it’s not
normal or healthy to eat the same thing (albeit in different varieties) every day.

I’ve struggled with eating disorders although thankfully doing very well these days but it’s always there as a demon on my shoulder. It’s a horrible horrible way to live.

IKeptYouLikeAnOath · 01/02/2022 23:25

@IcedPurple

I read that someone saw them in a famous higher end steak house in Los Angeles. David had a nice juicy steak. She had a plate of steamed spinach.

Some might call it 'disciplined', but I'd say it's a little bit sad.

Maybe if the media didn't constantly shit all over women and how much they weigh, as if that had literally anything to do with their value as a human being, then she wouldn't feel the need to restrict herself like this.
Clymene · 01/02/2022 23:26

You have made personal attacks Quincy. You've told @FlexibleWorkingDenied that she must be fat for raising any concerns about this.

Adding an exclamation mark to the end of a sentence doesn't make it any less unpleasant

AllOfUsAreDead · 01/02/2022 23:29

@Youngstreet

What is the difference between being too thin or too fat?

Why is it ok to judge and attack women who are thin and perhaps have an ed but we all have to pretend that ow women are absolutely fine with their high bp, type 2 diabetes, breathlessness, chafed thighs and general disregard for their own health.

If any of the pp’s judging VB have a high bmi, can’t control their emotional eating and have an unhealthy relationship with food then they’re hypocrites imo.

Most of us don’t eat healthily whether it be too much sugar, junk food or excess caffeine, coke or alcohol.

Being a woman is bloody hard whether you’re thin, fat or average.
Let’s acknowledge that VB like many women is affected by societies expectation of women’s looks and cut her some slack.

That's too easy though, and according to the ones who are fat, the ones who are thin have got it easy. All while slagging them off...

Makes me not feel sorry for the overweight women who do this. Its so horrible and really shows they are ugly people. Losing weight won't make them any better.

Bad mouthing either side is bad, rude and disgusting. People should just be aiming to be healthy themselves so they hopefully live a long life with minimal problems. Not focused on slagging off other people for their weight.

So much for women being nice to each other. Be kind bullshit as usual.

Jewel52 · 01/02/2022 23:31

To me it’s a complete no no that he’s outing her publicly for following a restricted diet. Do I think many women do this because they genuinely aren’t interested in food? No, I think the uber glamorous world she lives in makes being skinny a pre requisite for living a shiny happy life. He’d be the first to leave if “she let herself go”, she’s damned either way.

Quincythequince · 01/02/2022 23:33

I did not OP must be fat. I said people generally commenting on VB negatively were likely to have a weight problem.

The OP posted her own height and weight, she clearly doesn’t mind disclosing it. That’s up to her!

It’s interesting how so many people think that calling someone overweight is an insult though, but that slagging off VB for example is fair game.

The OP hasn’t raised any concerns, it’s malicious snidey, gossip and speculation about another woman, don’t dress it up as something nice.

Keep going with the punctuation mark comments, it would appear to be all you’ve got

😂

But she didn't have an ED , past tense. If her diet (and by the looks of it her weight) is the same but with the addition of one thing in 25 years I'd say unfortunately that's not much of a recovery.

AutomaticMoon · 01/02/2022 23:35

Fat doesn’t make you fat.

Fat doesn’t make you fat.

Fat doesn’t make you fat.

Not saturated animal fat like butter, it’s essential for our brain which is mostly cholesterol. And vit k2 you can only get from (grass fed) butter. Vegetable oils are not good at all. Nina Teicholz (The Big Fat Surprise) explains about the corruption that has taken place in setting the nutritional guidance. People are losing weight easily by eating lots of meat and fat and cutting down/out carbs. It’s really sad, I would say this is an eating disorder like Orthorexia, I presume she thinks this is healthy. Life is too short. Or maybe she has Autism and a restricted diet for that reason?! But I feel like she has always had Anorexia vibes...

AutomaticMoon · 01/02/2022 23:39

Yes, this definitely looks like ED eating, it’s definitely not healthy to have such a restricted diet, people have died from only being able to eat a few foods. Like one young man who lived on chips and died at 19. I’m sure she’s safe from dying but it’s not optimal nutrition. She could stay just as skinny but eat beef as well, she must be extremely anemic. I presume she has injections with supplements as she can access the best stuff , no iron filling supplements for her.

Tippexy · 01/02/2022 23:40

@Calist

She has an eating disorder. This isn’t a choice or a matter of willpower. She’s not in control. She can only feel in control by eating a very narrow diet of safe foods.
And, by her own admission, she works out for two hours a day six days a week.
Nowayoutonlydown · 01/02/2022 23:42

honestly, the think most curious for me is that her husband felt the need to dish this information out.
As someone with an eating disorder, much different, opposite end of the scale, if my husband felt the need to talk about my eating habits to the world, as he has I would be incredibly hurt.

SunshineArtist · 01/02/2022 23:45

And, by her own admission, she works out for two hours a day six days a week.

Lots of people do this. I do between 1 and 2.5 hours of exercise 5/6 days a week. It’s not that unusual. Running, swimming, gym class, weights, it adds up.

astorsback · 01/02/2022 23:46

Must be boring with such a limited diet but I must say, she looks fabulous.

WildImaginings · 01/02/2022 23:48

@Quincythequince

Interesting wildimaginings that you think being called overweight is an insult!

Why is it an insult?

And you don’t have to like the 18.5-23.5 range, most people don’t when they hear this, or that it’s lower for ethnic groups, but I didn’t come up with the numbers!

Women are smaller, have way less lean mass naturally (which is more dense) and become overweight at a lower BMI for this reason!

Basic physiology.

You are spectacularly missing the point.

What is offensive is you constantly goading the OP, the tone of your comments and then when she posts a screenshot of the NHS BMI calculator, you rubbishing it and labelling her as overweight for being .4 of a point over whatever scientific scale you're referring to.

I don't find the word 'overweight' offensive. I'm overweight, it's a basic fact.

What I find offensive is you nitpicking over the OP supposedly being 0.4% over the healthy range (which you know- she's not) and it's attitudes like yours which cause eating disorders. That's not a throwaway comment by the way: attitudes and comments like yours drove my previously healthy, at the 'top end' of normal range relative to develop such a serious eating disorder that she'll very likely die in the next couple of years if not before.

So yes, I find your attitude very bloody offensive.

Arnia · 01/02/2022 23:48

What an arsehole embarrassing her like that. Especially the dig about it being the best night ever when she shared food with him - sounds manipulative.

He's probably the reason she's so rigid about her diet. Cheating on her would not have exactly helped her in the disordered eating department. Dickhead.

Clymene · 01/02/2022 23:49

I would bet money that those people criticising her, have a weight problem!

I could be wrong of course but I bet I’m not!

@Quincythequince

This thread is a hymn to competitive undereating. It's something MN has a real problem with and it's been an issue for years.

I don't want to pick on you particularly; you're not the only one but there is a thin = good undercurrent around here. And it's unpleasant and unhealthy

WildImaginings · 01/02/2022 23:53

Random percent in my previous post, ignore.

And for what it's worth, I don't slag anyone off over their weight, overweight or underweight. And I don't agree with anyone else doing it either.

UndertheCedartree · 01/02/2022 23:55

I didn't say it was past tense, nor did I say it was a recovery. But I know how difficult it is. I don't feel the need to judge her for if she has made a recovery. I simply thought she has done well to add in fish - which of course isn't one thing as there are many varieties.
