I devastated by my 26 yr old daughters tattoos

Yup. I hate them. Today she showed me her new ‘sleeve’. It’s big black bold and bloody awful. She already has numerous tattoos and they’re getting bigger each time. She seems addicted. I don’t like tattoos. I don’t have to like them. That’s my choice. I’ve cried over it/her in private ! I’ve read up about parents reactions to our kids tattoos. And we are supposed to be happy that they are expressing themselves. But I’m struggling with that. I was ok with a few, ok with all the piercings… but the sleeve is too far. In my opinion. Does anyone else feel like me or am I the bitch mother from hell?

Bellatrix There's going to be a lot of screwed up adults not daring to tell their parents they have a tattoo in a few years time, for fear of judgement. And a lot of histrionics from parents who's adult children do decide to tell them they're getting tattoos! "How could you DO this to me!! I gave you perfect skin, how could you deface it??"

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2022 20:05

@BellatrixOnABadDay

You know, how are some of you going to cope if your precious little babies come home with their pure virgin skin covered like THIS

That'll give you all nightmares 😁

I don't believe that's a good representation of some beautiful tattoos but it's not the stuff of nightmares unless the nightmare was being made to have those tattoos..
BellatrixOnABadDay · 01/02/2022 20:07

Well sparkling, plenty on here have said the very thought of their precious babies ruining their perfect skin with a tattoo makes them want to cry, so i reckon the thought of full body tatts would be the stuff of nightmares.

Bloody hope one of the little darlings does it 😁

AllyBee990 · 01/02/2022 20:08

Literally none of your business at all. She is is adult and not your property. She has no more right to tell you to get a tattoo than you do to care about hers.

Choclover27 · 01/02/2022 20:08

Update update.
So I’ve had my shower, no time for a bath. And no wine in the house either. Therefore only a relatively a quick skim through the comments on here. Of which each and everyone is justified to their opinion
My hair dresser has loads of tattoos. She shows me them and they are all beautifully done. By her husband who is the tattooist and owns the business. She told me that the shop now makes more money on removals than it does on tattoos. So I can start saving now for her just incase!
I admire tattoo artists. Their talent is amazing

And I especially like to look at photos of tattoos that cover medical issues to make people feel good about themselves. One sticks in my mind of a lady who had had a double mastectomy covered by what looked like butterfly wings. She was beautiful anyway but now SHE felt beautiful.
My daughter feels beautiful with her tattoos which is good because I would hate her to regret the big black sleeve.

I’m going to start putting £1 coins into a jar anyway. Just incase.

I'm wondering why so many on this thread consider ok to speak so badly about tattoos. Yes, you don't like them, ok. You would never get one, ok.

However, this thread seems like a self fulfilling prophecy. I'm afraid people would judge them. What can I do about it? Maybe starting to judge them first and invite a whole bunch of co-judges with me?

(I don't have tattoos, I don't particularly like them, I just don't see the logic here).

Seems like the horrible comments are coming from both sides.
BuickMcKane · 01/02/2022 20:09

That's a ridiculous thing to say. People would never get haircuts, wear make-up or use mirrors if they didn't care about being seen as attractive - let alone instagram and filters!

Could it be... wait for it... that people do that FOR THEMSELVES? And not for other people? I know it's out there as an opinion, but maybe consider it?

I don't have tattoos to look attractive to people. I don't do my hair or put my makeup on to look attractive to other people. I do it because it makes me feel good about myself. For me.

My tattooist looks incredible. I aren't one for face tats but hers look really good. I am jealous she has a job that is so accepting!

I personally prefer to see tattoos than the red marks left on someone's neck and chest where they've been clutching their pearls too tight.

That's very interesting re the removals.

I wan't sure any tattoo regret would be solved like in Tattoo Fixers who will cover it up with an even bigger one, which I never really understood.

Seems like the horrible comments are coming from both sides

So after we've been called rough, chavs, classless, must have mental health problems etc, we can't make a joke about their reaction if one of the perfect skinned angels chooses to get some tattoos?

Ok then.

It is in my opinion. Talking about 'little darlings' and 'precious babies' and joking about wanting people to have nightmares over tattoos.

BellatrixOnABadDay · 01/02/2022 20:13

OP you sound lovely tbh. Sadly your thread drew responses from some bitch mums from hell or whatever you called it in your first post.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 01/02/2022 20:13

@Sparklingbrook you have been here the whole way through. You have seen the comments. That comment was warranted and not in the least bit horrible

I have been here all the way through and I have seem comments from both sides that have been a bit Hmm

Soon the thread will be full and everyone will go back to their tattooed or not tattooed lives I guess.

BellatrixOnABadDay · 01/02/2022 20:15

No issue with the things that have been said about tatts then sparkling? Chavs, dirty, rough, mentally unwell?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 01/02/2022 20:16

Until the next one. And all the judgmental twats will be out in abundance again
