So normally I’m a bit heartless and not one to cry at programmes at all, but I was flicking through Disney+ today and ended up watching The Rescue. Amazing programme and of course here I am bloody bawling about it at the end.

What did you last watch that made you cry?

@MintMe

I'm about a decade late to films but watched Sound of Metal with Riz Ahmed on Friday night and felt really overwhelmed at the end. Really snuck up on me.
That is a good film,

@LaurieFairyCake I am desperate to watch Mass but it looks like it’ll destroy me

Ricky Gervais as "Derek" when he went to the vet when his favourite dog was being put to sleep! He held the dog and was breaking his heart!!! It was some of the most emotional acting I have ever seen!

PamelaDoov · 30/01/2022 19:03

If you really want your heart broken, watch A Monster Calls.

Encanto - no one warned me!

An episode of 'accused: guilty or innocent'. It followed a young lad in the US who was being prosecuted for punching a neighbour who was attacking another -disabled -neighbour. The boy tried to stop the assault, but sadly his single punch caused catastrophic injuries. The twists and turns of the case, and his turning down of the plea bargain offer was compelling to watch. The outcome had me in pieces.

A very brief YouTube clip this morning that my students will be looking at this week as part of a wider project. Nicholas Winston on That's Life. I've seen the clip hundreds of times and cry like a baby each time. Humans can sometimes be pretty amazing.
I posted this clip on my ArseBook. Makes me cry every time.

I loved Derek. It was so bittersweet. I loved the bit when Lizzie’s husband said that he kept having to explain to her who he was and he said ‘don’t feel sorry for me, I get to fall in love with her over and over again’ or words that effect.

Another one here for After Life. Watched it with my best friend and we were both in floods.

And, if I want to cry, like a previous poster, the end of Paddington 2! Or Truly Madly Deeply.

Haroweller · 30/01/2022 19:18

The drama Anne about the Hillsborough disaster.

I sobbed through the last two episodes. So, so, moving

The Jay Blades documentary about dyslexia and learning to read. Hearing the teenagers talking about how they’d struggled in mainstream school and how happy they were now set me off. Also, the prison officer talking about how many prisoners couldn’t read. It makes me cry thinking about the wasted opportunities to help those men before they ended up in prison.
Yes to the PP who mentioned the news report in Afghanistan with the man trying to sell his daughter. It was just such a sad and hopeless situation.
One news report that stays with me is a news report from Myanmar. A group of men were hiding from the militia who had burned their village and taken their wives and children. The village leader was talking to the reporter about what had happened and he just broke down, then one by one all the men started crying. It was one of the most heartbreaking things I’ve ever seen. I often wonder what happen to those men. I pray they are safe now and reunited with their loved ones but I don’t think they are.
