So normally I’m a bit heartless and not one to cry at programmes at all, but I was flicking through Disney+ today and ended up watching The Rescue. Amazing programme and of course here I am bloody bawling about it at the end.

What did you last watch that made you cry?

@MintMe

I'm about a decade late to films but watched Sound of Metal with Riz Ahmed on Friday night and felt really overwhelmed at the end. Really snuck up on me.
I’ve watched this 3 times already it’s so good!

@GrandTheftWalrus

It's a sin made me ugly cry.
Oh yes, I sobbed like a baby. One of the best things I've watched in years.

In a completely different way there is a scene in the Godfather where Michael is outside the hospital with the baker (Enzo I think) Enzo is clearly terrified but he stands with Michael waiting for the men to come to kill the Godfather. There is something so touching about this quiet, timid little man doing it. A gung ho hero wouldn't mean the same at all.

Oh god and AnneSad the minute her boy asked to go to the match I was a gonnaSad I instantly imagined my boy he asks me sometimes to go places I’m not comfortable with but he goes on and you don’t want them to miss out you just let them it’s just too sad to even imagine!!

Phyllis321 · 30/01/2022 17:51

The film with Mads Mikkelson where he’s stranded in the snow. Arctic?

@AlexaShutUp

One of Alex Crawford's latest reports about the situation in Afghanistan. Parents selling their kidneys and their children in order to survive/feed their other kids. Utterly heartbreaking.
I watched most of it, I had to turn it off just before the end as it was so upsettng.

Alex Crawford is an amazing reporter.

This Is Us. I hardly ever cry at this but I’ve teared up at this several times! I’m only up to series 3 so probably got a lot more tears to come!

Keladrythesaviour · 30/01/2022 17:56

Belfast, although only a little tear at the end. Lovely film though.

Roselilly36 · 30/01/2022 17:58

The Shack on Netflix, sobbed my heart out.

SweetLathyrus · 30/01/2022 17:59

Pig and Afterlife - it was an emotional weekend!

AndrewPreview · 30/01/2022 18:00

I watched the 3rd series of After Life on Netflix last night, had me balling at the end.

throwawayafteruse · 30/01/2022 18:00

Vikings. Lagerthas funeral. I've not long lost my own mum you see.

augustusglupe · 30/01/2022 18:05

A clip of the Sarah Everard vigil that was part of a programme we watched yesterday evening.

Also, last week, Michael Crawford singing Peace Peace/Silent Night. It was from a Parkinson show back in 1999. My brother died over Christmas 9 years ago and his looks and demeanour were very similar to Michael. I sobbed my heart out.

Someone up thread said The Alpinist. It was very moving. As was The Last Mountain.

oncemoreunto · 30/01/2022 18:05

After life and Nicolas Winton both made me tear up.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 30/01/2022 18:07

I can't remember the last thing I watched that made me cry but I was a blubbering mess an hour ago after finishing the book, Half a world away by Mike Gayle.

Thatgingergirl · 30/01/2022 18:09

Christian the Lion - I read that John Rendell (who originally bought the lion cub from Harrods) had died recently, and looked again at the video about the reunion.

The documentary about the painting of the holocaust survivor's portraits. Wasn't going to watch it but someone recommended it to me. The stories were so moving as well as their reactions to the portraits. I cried at all of this but mostly because there was a message of gratefulness and not hating.

SkylarFerris · 30/01/2022 18:20

Lion made me cry.
Every time I watch the curious life of Benjamin Button, that makes me cry

Funkyslippers · 30/01/2022 18:22

I cried at the new West Side Story during the song 'Tonight'. I found that bit particularly beautiful. I didn't cry at the end though. Once was enough ☺️

passionfruitpizza · 30/01/2022 18:27

Encanto. The last 5 times I've cried it's been in Encanto.

Cleebope2 · 30/01/2022 18:27

Another who cried from happiness at Nadal’s win today! Often cry watching the news. Fiction… Afterlife last scene, The Father last scenes, but the gong goes to Mare of Easttown ending which had me properly blubbering.

Youneverknow101 · 30/01/2022 18:29

The dog house, my god I have cried at every episode!

Countytee · 30/01/2022 18:29

Just now. A clip on fb of returning military suprising their loved ones by just turning up. The look of disbelief followed by tears. A little boy in his dads arms.
