How annoying is peppa pig?

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 15:45

My 5yo dd still watches this shite and I can't believe how bad/annoying it is.

All the male characters are beyond useless so it's always "mummies to the rescue" the one she's just watched has the men setting fire to a bbq and the women coming to fix it.

They fat shame daddy pig and peppa is a cheeky little shit.

And where is daddy pigs parents or is this a hush hush thing that granpa and granny pig are his parents as well?

@T00Ts

I like Adventures of Paddington.
Paddington is hilarious!! DC are in stitches when they watch it
scrivette · 30/01/2022 21:24

I like Peppa, I didn't but she has grown on me for DC3, I find it quite funny abs much prefer it to Paw Patrol. Ben and Holly is great too although DC are not keen.

Piglet89 · 30/01/2022 21:28

@GrandTheftWalrus Miss Rabbit is absoluteky beholden to The Man.

Piglet89 · 30/01/2022 21:29

Paw Patrol is absolute crap. I won’t allow my son to watch that shite.

SilverDoe · 30/01/2022 21:31

I hate the body shaming in Peppa Pig and similar to Ben and Holly I always find frequent jokes aimed at the adults quite cringey and unwanted in a show aimed at little ones.

Bing is just pandering awfulness to me but it does seem to engage and be aimed at DC at least.

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 21:36

Oh yes she loves the mighty pups as well. At least during lockdown when she was glued to the wiggles it helped her.

And due to the 4.5yr age gap when she's grown out of it (although feels like she never will) I have it all to come again with the younger one.

Should definitely see if she'll watch bluey. There's a few episodes on BBC iplayer and quite a few more on disney+. I actually enjoy watching them and it's helped my children play imaginary games together. They're always quoting it 😂

Hugasauras · 30/01/2022 21:46

Peppa has grown on me. Some of it is quite funny. Bluey is good but does make one feel inadequate as a parent. I do love Sarah and Duck though. Bing can piss off.

RonObvious · 30/01/2022 21:48

Someone on here once said that Daddy pig looks like a scrotum. Can’t ever unsee that.

And Peppa is better than Caillou, I fucking hated Caillou.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 30/01/2022 21:54

Peppa pig got my asd dc to talk.

It's better in english than danish. Danish mummy pig is REALLY annoying. Also police cars arent called panda cars in danish so pc panda is meaningless.

TheBigFish · 30/01/2022 22:01

My two love Bluey but yes makes me feel a shit parent. Glad I'm not the only one to react to it like that. Some of it is very funny though.

SmellyWellyWoo · 30/01/2022 22:02

I love Miss Rabbit- the only working class character on the show!

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 22:03

I'll try her on bluey.

She wanted me to draw peppa for her the other day so I drew a slightly phallic shape and put eyes on it, she was delighted and showed her dad who couldn't move for laughing.

@Twokidsanddone

The fat shaming daddy pig actually makes me sad for him even though he's a bloody cartoon! And Mr and Mrs rabbit have some real spending and lifestyle issues if they need so many jobs. Was having this conversation with a friend the other day about how cheeky peppa is allowed to be (and how much bing needs to just stop).
It's Miss Rabbit that has all the jobs, not Mrs Rabbit. They're sisters.
Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 30/01/2022 22:06

My 9 year old son is autistic and has had a life long love for Peppa Pig. It's on pretty much every day in our house 😭😭 We even went to Peppa Pig World on holidays.

runsmidgeOMG · 30/01/2022 22:08

The worst thing about bing and peppa are bing and peppa themselves.

Bing. Flop has the patience of a saint. I often think what would flop do ? (Whilst screaming in to a pillow)

Peppa- yes she is the epitome of a bog standard pre schooler but she is enabled by all around her (toddler who wasn't allowed to hear no when destroying baby cousins possessions thread recently springs to mind)
That sort of attitude won't help her later in life when Suzy/ Rebecca et al tire of her....

The supporting cast are funny- another Grampy rabbit fan but peppa... no no no !!!

Rosebel · 30/01/2022 22:08

I quite like Peppa. My DDs loved this show when they were little and now my son also likes it.
Can't stand Bing. So bloody irratating and whingy all the time. Luckily my son can't read yet so quickly turn over/off when it says Bing is next.

Nichola2310 · 30/01/2022 22:09

My son was mad into fireman Sam which I actually quite enjoyed. Then after a few weeks at a new childminders he became peppa pig mad, I'm gutted.

HelloBunny · 30/01/2022 22:10

My mum puts it on all day long when she’s minding my son. His cousin loves it... We don’t watch it at home.

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 22:11

My parents got her a peppa scooter for her birthday which she loves but unfortunately it was a 3 wheel one and she can confidently go a proper scooter, so we are going to keep the smaller one for her wee sister (will be a while as she's 8 months old) and she likes going out on her "big scooter" we actually got her scooter from a charity shop before Xmas for a fiver and the wheels light up when she goes fast etc.

Sorry derailed there a wee bit.

Not half as annoying as Bing.

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 22:13

She used to call it Peggy pig when she was about 2.

I'm really hoping she grows out of it soon as she's 5 and halfway through primary 1.

But then I'm 37 and still love cartoons and animated films

Lol we love Peppa here. Agree that Bing is whiney so we don't watch that now.

Fave Peppa episode - bull in a china shop 😅

Momicrone · 30/01/2022 22:19

Only annoying if some brat is watching it in public without headphones
