How annoying is peppa pig?

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 15:45

My 5yo dd still watches this shite and I can't believe how bad/annoying it is.

All the male characters are beyond useless so it's always "mummies to the rescue" the one she's just watched has the men setting fire to a bbq and the women coming to fix it.

They fat shame daddy pig and peppa is a cheeky little shit.

And where is daddy pigs parents or is this a hush hush thing that granpa and granny pig are his parents as well?

And the one about 'the women' coming to save the BBQ...they were being volunteer firefighters for the day.

We complain that girls don't see women portrayed in male-dominated roles but complain when they put them in a TV show 😂

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 16:42

It was more the men all panicking and then "mummies to the rescue"

I'd love her to watch encanto (I'm dying to watch it) but she won't sit and watch a film so a few eps of peppa is about her limit. Although I may try as she did sit and watch frozen.

I also tried to get her into the Disney classics but again no interest, little git!

Peppa is such a moody brat and so mean to Daddy pig too

TheRemotePart · 30/01/2022 16:44

Haha we love Peppa in this house. I sometimes text DH and tell him whatever passive aggressive thing mummy pig has said to daddy pig today.

grey12 · 30/01/2022 16:44

@inksinkbink

Can't even imagine how anyone could not like Peppa Pig. I always loved it.
I don't love it but I don't dislike it.

You can try to convince her to watch something you may prefer Wink I suggest Bluey, Dugee, Numberblocks, LoveMonster (but just because the song is great)

dottydodah · 30/01/2022 16:45

Our Nieces were over from US ,and were thrilled at Peppa Pig World ,which is local to us .I think the Characters may be a little bit of a cliche but still lovable! The children I taught at Nursery School loved it.

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 16:49

Is duggee the one narrated by Stephen fry? If so she did watch that for a bit and I found it so boring it was like time went backwards while watching it.

lostteaspoon · 30/01/2022 16:51

Duggee is narrated by Alexander Armstrong

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 16:54

Wonder what I'm thinking of, unless I have the narrator wrong, they get badges?

Yes they do
GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 16:55

Ahh wrong narrator then. Thanks!

Yeah that’s Duggee, Alexander Armstrong does sound a bit like Stephen Fry! Some of the Duggees are lovely, the early ones are a lot more simple and charming than some of the later ones

WhoWants2Know · 30/01/2022 17:00

I love Peppa and will hear not a word against her.

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 17:01

Tbf the episode where she tried to whistle and hangs up on suzy sheep is hilarious

Bunnycat101 · 30/01/2022 17:03

My first didn’t really watch peppa- she was obsessed with Bing. Like a few other posters I love Peppa in comparison to Bing. Some of the episodes are quite amusing. I also really like Ben and Holly.

Bunnycat101 · 30/01/2022 17:05

Also there is one episode where they have to do a school project and all the parents basically do it and are deeply pained by the whole thing. That one is brilliant.

HunterAngel · 30/01/2022 17:23

Peppa is banned in my house. DS watches Thomas (the older films not the weird anime version they’ve just brought out) and Disney films. Luckily I love Disney movies which is good as I’m pretty sure I can now quote the entire Lion King film from memory. My Jeremy Irons impression is getting pretty good now!

KimDeals · 30/01/2022 19:26

I liked peppa, I hated Doc Mc Stuffin and My little pony, Jesus Christ.

Was happy when it progressed to Ben and holly… Now it’s bluey, which is very enjoyable!

SnowyPetals · 30/01/2022 19:31

The best Peppa episode of all time is International Day (made pre Brexit vote). Makes sitting through all the other ones worth it.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 30/01/2022 19:32

But Daddy Pig's favourite room is the museum café... I'm now identifying as a male pig 🤫

GrandTheftWalrus · 30/01/2022 19:58

"What vegetable did you draw peppa?"

"Daddy"

Very harsh.

Wolf 'and what is your house made of daddy pig?'

'Bricks, so don't even think about it!'

The only bit that ever made me LOL Grin

T00Ts · 30/01/2022 20:28

I like Adventures of Paddington.

Adatwistscientist · 30/01/2022 20:36

I love Peppa, she's 'bratty' but actually there are very few girl leads that speak their mind and aren't princesses etc.

I like the expressions mummy and daddy pig pull to demonstrate they're fucked off Grin

But then I find bluey tedious because the parents are on ALL THE TIME. "hey sport, let's go and do another amazing game!!" Urgh.

BordelDeMerde · 30/01/2022 20:54

I love that bit. There's lots of funny lines though.

Although Ben & Holly is far superior. I think I'll actually keep watching B&H by myself if and when DD grows out of it. Grin
