Is anyone awake??? In absolute agony!!

All day today I've had a pain under my big toe, right on the ball, but tonight the pain is excruciating, I can't bend my toe fully and have to hop to get around. Its really swollen and horrendous to touch? Does anyone know if its possible to break a bone Here?? I've never felt pain like it

I get something like this occasionally, so I'm intrigued. It normally goes after a day or two. I already have inflammatory arthritis so it tends to blend in with general background crapness of everything iyswim.

I hope yours is a simple thing, OP, that'll be easily treated.

If you don't remember knocking it it may not be broken/fractured. Do you wear high heels a lot ?it could be protesting about that. It does sound like gout but the only way to know for sure is to get medical advice . In the meantime take painkillers and drink a LOT of water

@Twaintime no never wear high heels only flat shoes, would gout only hurt when pressed or moved tho?

@Mammaof You’re definitely not too young to get gout unfortunately OP! My (otherwise very healthy!) DH had his first flare up at 23 and has been dealing with it for 11 years now! Took him ages to get a diagnosis because they doctors kept dismissing it because of his age!
Hopefully it’s nothing like that though and you’ve just done something daft to it!
DHs is usually burning hot to the touch, can’t put any pressure on it, can’t even drape a sheet over it in bed without being in serious pain.

Going for an xray now x

I had this last year and it was so painful. Came on for no reason and lasted just under a week.

although google says that is in the heel?

over walked perhaps? need new shoes?

Is 18,000 steps routine for you?
If so, then nowt exceptional.
In flat shoes with arch support?

18,000 in flat shoes with no arch support as an unusual event may lead to some swelling/strain/injury etc afterwards.

By now, I assume that your X-ray is done & being reviewed.
Fingers crossed the issue can be sorted & you are in your way home soon.

@UniversalAunt it's about 1000 more than I usually do a day but nothing out of the ordinary, a few emergencies have come in now so waiting a bit longer I think x

If you haven't had an accident, stubbed it, stepped on something, cut it etc, it's almost certainly gout.

When you try to stand on it, then lift your foot back up, do you get a hot horrible throbbing pain?

It's commonly thought only bad tempered old colonels in cartoons get it 🤣, but I was in my thirties.

Anti inflammatory tablets I seem to remember plus rest and lots of water .
