Naked man in car park/view point

Local viewpoint has a natural outdoor pond which people do outdoor swimming, maybe a car park for 40 cars. Sat in the car today putting on hat etc waiting to go out, a fully completely (not even shoes) man walks in front of the car to the pool. Oh sorry he has a hat on. I got a full frontal swinging view for quite a while. We sat there initially for a few seconds in a “did I just fucking see that?”. He was with 2 women who were wearing swimming costumes. He wasn’t even carrying a towel like they were. He walked about 200m.

We were just wondering whether this was a police matter, when we noticed there was a park warden in the car park and we’re going to talk to him, but it seemed a few people had beaten us to it. Warden went and talked to the 2 women who had got out at this point and they went and got another towel for naked man, who stayed in for another 5 mins I guess hoping to avoid warden, who then talked to him in front of our car. Naked man said something like it was a shame people were offended in this day and age.

Once he was gone, suddenly everyone got out their cars, like they were waiting for it to finish. There were kids walking with families (it is the start of a scenic walk).

If he really wanted to go for a naked swim, then walk to the pond with a towel and put it down before you go in surely? Although DH said even that is flashing too much.

So, if the warden wasn’t there, would you have thought it was a police matter? Is this not ok? They might not have been there in time. I think the warden dealt with it appropriately.

YANBU - no it’s not okay to walk 200m naked with families around
YABU - of course it’s ok to see a mans genitals when you’re not expecting them

I might well have laughed.

Or if I was worried about kids or something (but then just seeing a naked body never bothered me) I would have shouted ‘you forgot your towel- kids around!’.

It might be a well known naked swimming spot and they didn’t think there would be people around.

Maybe he doesn’t like leaving his towel on the wet muddy ground.

Some people are flashers, some people just don’t think naked bodies are a problem , or sexualised.

5foot5 · 29/01/2022 17:16

I agree Germany etc is relaxed but they choose where and when to get naked - we need to lose the notion that theyre doing this anywhere they wish. Theyre not, they do it in appropriate settings ie where its the norm where they are be it pool, sauna or outdoor swim.

But he was doing it for an outdoor swim, he wasn't just wandering around Sainsburys

5foot5 · 29/01/2022 17:18

@Roadshiner

Why on earth was it necessary for him to do that - should have been arrested and charged.
Charged with what? Doesn't sound like he was committing an offence
CaveWoman1 · 29/01/2022 17:43

I saw a naked rambling man once on the North Downs Way. He was wearing hiking boots, but that was all. Just walking along the hillside in the early evening. Didn’t bother me, I don’t think from his candour that he was intending to cause any distress

CaveWoman1 · 29/01/2022 17:44

And it’s not an actual offence us it? To be naked?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2022 17:47

@SpaceDetective

Is it not indecent exposure?

Indecent exposure in England requires intent to cause distress, not just being naked.

It's not really fit for purpose imo. If someone is challenged and told that (regardless of his original intent) he is causing distress, and he doesn't then cover up, then he's knowingly causing distress... is that materially different from intent?

@5foot5

I'm sorry but this made me smile. I love the fact he was wearing a hat. I wonder if he was German, IME they are very relaxed about nudity. Or maybe he was the Naked Rambler
I've previously lived in Germany and known many German people. They are indeed often relaxed about this but are also decent citizens who know there's a time and place for getting ones todger out. And that isn't where there are kids about.
tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 29/01/2022 17:49

Until the day arrives when no one raises an eyebrow at a mother feeding her child anywhere in public without the need for any sort of cover (unless this is mums own preference) then I shall continue not to tolerate a man getting his bits out.

CMOTDibbler · 29/01/2022 17:53

Its certainly not normal in open water swimming circles, and neither is being publically topless when changing, thats the whole point of using a changing robe. There are, for sure, people who get off on skinny dipping inappropriately though, and I (and those who I know through swimming) would be having words

InFiveMins · 29/01/2022 17:55

YANBU OP.
Posters saying it "made them smile" or think it's harmless - it's inappropriate and selfish. He knew what he was doing and was likely getting a thrill out of it. He will have known there were women and children around. It's vile behaviour.

NAGALT!

🤣

ClaymationHeartsStillBeat · 29/01/2022 18:01

dudes swinging their tackle around going for a swim in public are less worrying than dudes swinging their tackle around in designated female-only spaces imo.

tbh one sees a lot of tackle in Germany, mainly female. I no longer care about it and it's given me a renewed sense of positivity about my own body which I dearly hope my kids grow up with.

ClaymationHeartsStillBeat · 29/01/2022 18:01

but obvs NAGALT!

Georgeskitchen · 29/01/2022 18:09

Outrageous public decency I would say. Why do people think anyone wants to see their (usually unattractive) naked bodies? I sure as hell don't!!

skybluee · 29/01/2022 18:20

Fucking gross. Why foist that on people who may not want to see? Especially if five year old girls around etc. It's just unnecessary and arrogant really. It takes two seconds to put a pair of swimming shorts on.

Sad that everyone was waiting and then sprung to life after he left.

Topless is fine for both sexes.

I don't want to see his dick and I'd imagine a lot of people don't. Reminds me of when I was in a shopping centre and a man in very short shorts was walking up and down the stairs. I was sitting on the stairs. I kept seeing his penis. I was about six.

FailureToLurk · 29/01/2022 18:21

Something similar happended to me and DH some years ago in our 20's. We were sat in the car in an area of natural beauty where people go swimming. DS was a baby back then and asleep in the car. We had stopped to have some coffee from our flask.

Well a man, fully nude, just gets out of his car, walks a cross the car park casually and then starts to walk down the somewhat steep muddy verge down to the lake.

DH beeped the horn of the car, it startled naked man and he slipped in the mud 😳🤣 DH knew what he was doing, but we both just burst out laughing, he got up naked and muddy and waved angrily at DH, but we were both too busy giggling to care. It probably all came off in the water anyway.

Wayne Couzens exposed himself to women in the week before he abducted and murdered Sarah Everard.

Is that worth a smile too?

NAGALT? Tried and failed on a google for what this stands for.

girlmom21 · 29/01/2022 18:26

@FrogIAm not all Germans are like that Grin

Natsku · 29/01/2022 18:28

There's nothing better than swimming naked but its not on to do it in front of strangers if its not a nudist beach. At the very least he should have worn a towel until he got to the water, and went a reasonable distance away from the car park before getting in so could be discreet.

Ellowyn · 29/01/2022 18:29

I'm in my late 60's and when I was growing up it was not unusual for men to flash their genitals at women in parks. They'd hide in the shrubbery and wait for a woman to come by. My mother used to take a short cut to work through a park and saw the same man a few times. They used to wear raincoats. Anyway, they were doing it for some sort of sexual gratification and were known back then as perverts.

Now men think they have a free pass to visually assault women and girls for their sexual pleasure. This pervert in the OP wouldn't even carry a towel to block the view of his penis and testes. Anyone who accepts this as 'normal' in 'this day and age' are part of the problem.

skybluee · 29/01/2022 18:33

That's how they try to flip it on people - that you're not liberated, that there's something wrong with you - instead of addressing the issue as to why they feel it's OK to do that...

nocoolnamesleft · 29/01/2022 18:34

Exhibitionist waving around his male entitlement.

trumpisagit · 29/01/2022 18:39

I am sorry you had to see that OP.
It is indecent exposure.
Why did he want to show his penis to families with young children?
